Oh, meant to update: I emailed the 'recruiter' guy and said it would be nice to have some closure. He immediately emailed me back and apologized. It is their fiscal year end. I emailed back and said of course, I understood so it ain't over til it's over.

Scuttlers. GREAT news!
blue, OMG! I would have had a heart attack!
Anne, LOVE the kitty. So cute!
Barbara, did you change jobs? I know you were going on interviews, did you get it? If I just messed up, drinks are on me.
Cooked the turkey, stuffing, spoon cornbread, mashed potatoes, butternut squash with pecans, dressed the salad AND did some correcting! Who is superwoman?
Happy Thanksgiving!
-
Scuttlers ... glad to hear about NED ... hope you two have a long and steamy affair!
Yeah ... we have achieved kitty pix ... what a good looking girl Miya is.
Sue ... good luck on the job thing. You'll probably get it since you don't care that much ... isn't that the way it usually works.
Barbara ... glad to hear your prospect is still open. All fingers and toes remain crossed in your behalf!
Blue ... how scary! But obviously he was being carefully watched since somebody hauled him out quickly. He probably thought it was great fun. To be honest being around little kids makes me a nervous wreck now ... they can get an 'idea' and get themselves in trouble so quick. I guess I was just used to it back when mine and her cousins were little and around all the time.
In honor of Canadian Thanksgiving I am cooking TV turkey dinners. Pitiful I know but I've been busy today. We do have a pumpkin roll for dessert. It was either that or threaten DH with leftovers so we'd go out to eat instead

Now if our lovely bartender could find me a whiskey and coke ...
-
Love the new kitty - don't know if Poppy would like her though.
My DH has played golf on that course. Luckily I don't play. He said birds won't land on the water where the sharks are. Up north near Cairns, the golf course at Mosman has signs warning about crocodiles.
Barb - is he saying they haven't decided yet? Very strange to not get any feedback yet.
Blue - glad you're feeling a bit better. Can I come to dinner?
Looking back I think I did ok in the interview - time will tell.
Sue

LOve the Kitty.
Scuttlers........Yeeeeeeeeeehaw!
Good news from many makes me happy!
Dinner is done and pumpkins are picked. Will post pics tomorrow. Too pooped to pop right now.
-
All the good cooking is making me hungry. I just love holiday cooking and baking.
Barbara still hoping for a good answer.
Sue good luck with the job.
Just love pictures of dogs and cats.
-
Barbara - I missed the post - YOU GOT THE NEW JOB!!!! Congratulations - hope iit turns out to be wonderful, and all you want it to be.
ETA - oops, confuzzled - I thought Barbara wrote 2nd week at new job, now I see recruiters still have their heads in the sand - well, tell them to get with the prgram!!!!!
Is the food served at Canadian Thanksiving different that what is usual at USA Thanksgiving. Do you guys use cranberries?
-
I think we have the same food. I also have cranberry sauce with the turkey, gravy and everything else.
The only difference at my house is we have Italian dessert!
-
Sun -- Traditional turkey with stuffing (although some of us call it "dressing") and cranberries, along with veggies of our choice (but not candied yams with marshmallows). Pies (usually pumpkin and apple) for dessert with whipped cream. But maple syrup is REALLY good on pumpkin pie! Having said all that, I haven't had turkey and all the fixings for either Thanksgiving or Christmas in many, many years. Neither DH nor I are fond of the big bird -- duck or goose is more to our liking.
-
I have turkey and cranberry sandwiches at work everyday!!
-
Love turkey, mashies gravy and stuffing. Cranberry sauce not so much.
-
WHAT A BEAUTIFUL KITTY! SUCESS AT LAST.
You all are making me hungry! Bought Ice Wine and Belgium Truffles at Costco today, going to have a little celebration.
Made grape jelly today. (actually do not like grape jelly). I must say though that it is the most scrumptious jelly EVER. And finally was successful in getting something/anything to gel. I have more pints of raspberry and strawberry and apricot "syrup" (read "it did not gel") this year than 3 years of waffles can use up! -
Scuttlers - that news was an extra brithday present for you
Celebrate in the best style!!!Sue
-
Bren, thank you so much!!!!
Everyone loves little Miya except Miko. He's regretting all the complaining he's done lately about being lonely. Miya is determined to make him play with her. So far, he's sulking and hissing, but he's watching her with interest when he thinks we're not looking!
Scuttlers, all that syrup would be good on ice cream, too (with a little chocolate sauce, too, of course!)
-
Anne -- Miya is lovely! I bet the two will be cuddling up together by this time next week - after all, winter is coming and they need each other to keep warm!
-
Oooooo Anne, chocolate ice cream! Thanks for the idea!
-
Congratulations, Scuttlers - wonderful news!
Barbara - that makes more sense. I'm sure they would have gotten back to you one way or another. Fingers crossed.
Awwww, what a gorgeous litty, Ann.
Saying hello to Bren - glad you have some work.
Off to finish watching a whodunt. See you later, alligators.
-
Starting to get scanxiety - MRI, Mammo U/S coming up this Friday - eeek!!!
-
susie -- If there's anything we ALL can identify with, it's SCANxiety! Fingers crossed for a "nothing" result, and if it's any help at all, the majority have "nothing" results.
-
Thanks Linda - I have to be there at 7am. DH wants to come but I won't let him. They're doing the MRI first - if nothing shows on that, then hopefully I'll skip the mammo and U/S. On a positive note - I am having the whole day off. The breast clinic I now go to doesn't let you leave until they are finished - sounds good, but not good in reality after last year. Last year they found a second bc which was missed the year before, so you can understand why I'm nervous. Then again, I've been on Arimidex now for 16 months- hope it's improved the density. Also the MRI costs $700 no refunds from private health or the government - lucky I've got some put by. I'm supposed to do 6 monthly monitoring, but missed in April as I had had enough, so that's why I booked both MRI and mammo.
EEEEEKKKKKKKK!!!!
-
((Susie)) I am there in your pocket!
Got another email from the recruiter. They went with someone from within the company but he said the department is growing fast so my resume is on top of the pile. Oh well. C'est la vie.
-
SusieQ - here's to the most boring scans since Athena's
Showing nothing has changed.I have the opposite of scananxiety - my docs at DF don't do ANY tests - nada. Just a short talk, they ask a lot of questions, and a physical exam by a doc. If no symptoms, it's taken to be all ok. Still feel anxious evey six months.
GORGEOUS Fall day here - colors starting - terrible mold blight in fields growing vines - so pumpkins, winter squash, cukes have been devastated. Another "gift" from Tropical storm Irene and the weeks of rain we've had.
Thanks for teaching us about Canadian Thanksgiving - now we all know the "myth" of the Pilgrims, Indians & stuff here - what's Canada's excuse for the splurge?????
No marshmallows on sweet potato casserole - really?
-
DAMN - Barbara,
I just read your post. OH, BOTHER BIG TIME, BIG TIME. Really, worse than OH BOTHER, but the other isn't "allowed" here...but I"m screaming it for you & it begins with F.
-
Can't sleep - poop!!! DH snoring again - boring. He spent the last 2 nights in the spare bed upstairs - Poppy and I liked that
Just took some melatonin - fingers crossed I'll get sleepy soon.Barb - so sorry about the job - fingers crossed they need you soon.
I'll have to take a big bag with me on Friday to fit you all in
I'm also supposed to have a thyroid ultrasound but the referral was too old (more than 1 year), so I might get the surgeon's office to fax a new one through so I can get that out of the way too before I see her next week. I'm hoping my goitre has shrunk a bit as I've been taking kelp twice a day to see if it would help.((((HUGS))))

Barb - CRAP CRAP CRAPPITY! Sending a special "my job sucks" Corona NFL your way. It's never too early for Corona.
Susieq - We're all with you! Scanxiety is the worst! I'm glad you're getting an MRI, especially after they missed a tumor last year. Mammograms and ultrasound are not good diagnostic tools for us "dense" people.
Scuttlers - Kudos to you for even trying to make jelly. Just the thought of it gives me a headache!
Anne - I want your kitty. Now, please. :-)
-
Scuttlers, I'm late to the party but LIKE LIKE LIKE LIKE your wonderful news!
Blue, I'm getting the willies just thinking about the pool and your grandson ... cold shivers! I'm so glad someone was there to pounce quickly!
Anne, what a beautiful new addition to your family! Even littermates and parents/children fight ... I think Miko will come around soon.
Barbara, I'm so sorry about the job ... but the recruiter is right. If the department is expanding and they seem to have really been impressed with you, they will keep you in mind. It happened to DH ... he kept applying for a job at a particular place and they really liked him and were really impressed, but they couldn't reach him on the list. Finally, after about the 3rd time, they turned him down and then called him 2 months later and offered him the job because their first choice (who was a 10-point vet) abruptly retired. Unfortunately, after he went through the whole security clearance and physical process, they had to pull the offer for budgetary reasons -- but he is #1 on the list for the next opening that they will be able to fill.
I'm doing better these days ... it seems the wound is getting a little shallower, so it is slowly improving. Still tired, but that seems to be improving as well. Back at work part-time on the computer from home, and the office is very grateful for whatever I can do for them (good position to be in!). Just trying to maintain my strength for our vacation to Cancun in November -- it is nonrefundable, so I don't want to miss that!
XOXO to all!

Hi Everybody!
Barbara .. I am so sorry to hear they went with an internal candidate. Having been in H/R for 15 years, I know how that goes. They have to post the job, even though they have already picked someone internally for the job. It sucks.
Libby .. I'm glad your wound is getting smaller. I hope you get all your energy back for your upcoming trip.
Susie .. We'll all be with you on Friday. Hoping for 'unremarkable' results!
The colors are changing here and it's absolutely beautiful! Rain is expected today and for the rest of the week. arghh.
Hope everyone is having a great day!
Bren

Hey, HL, I'm relieved to hear that you feel better. This has been a slow process. The day where you get to tell stories about it with a smile on your face is approaching - remember those flowers. :-)
(((((Susie))))) I'm in your pocket all day Friday. May your scan be even more boring than mine. Don't forget to bring a huge bag so that we can all fit.
(((Barbara))) - Grrrrr - I like HL's example. It really does happen that way sometimes. Here's hoping for a quick expansion of the department. The BCO B&G is open.
I'm getting a new smartphone today and I am feeling like a child on Christmas Eve. Can't wait to get home. I don't remember when I crossed that invisible line in which one goes from just wanting to make good quality calls to insisting on being able to do everything BUT swim and play tennis on one's phone. Maybe my commute is to blame.
-
Thanks girls - you will all be with me in spirit.
Smart phone - what's a smart phone? I don't even turn my cell phone on - very basic - doesn't even take pics
Enjoy your new toy Athena!!Libby - glad you're much better - (((HUGS)))
Sue

{{HL}} Glad you are coming around but man, so sorry it has been so hard for you! Hugs.
Thanks, E and Sunflowers and Athena and everyone about the job. It is what it is and I am keeping on trucking.
Bad news...tried on last year's cruise dresses and cannot fit into three. ARGHH. Eating salad twice a day. Here's hoping. 10/30 is d-day.
Sus - still in your pocket tho' you must be done. Hoping for fab results.
