Oh I so know how scary kids falling in the pool is.

My dear grandson's made the same mistake after being told not to go near the pool. Did they listen? Of course not!

Do you have compulsory pool fencing laws over there? We have the most strict laws, but it still doesn't stop casualties.

Yes we do.  The pool is totally fenced in but the adults as well as the children were in the fenced area.  They had just come out of the pool.

Yikes, Blue -- so scary.  It's the kind of thought that's hard to get out of your mind, but I hope the thought at least leaves your back alone, soon.

    Good luck, Susie!

AnneW -- so happy you got Miya and that she's holding her own, socially!

Yes, Susie, swimming pools are considered an "attractive nuisance" in legal jargon in the U.S.

An "attractive nuisance" is something that is potentiall dangerous but is expected, by its nature, to be enticing to children.  Children will do their very best to try to gain access to the pool and will congregate there if possible. So, a homeowner with a swimming pool is obligated by law to do whatever is necesary to prevent access by uninvited "guests".  Otherwise, the homeowner can be held liable for damages if a child is injured or killed, even if the child was trespassing.

What a weekend. Friday the cat went to the vet.I was hoping for a clean bill of health for her but she is still low in potassium so got a supplement and has to go back in two weeks. The only possible cause that I remember is a kidney infection. I do rememeber the other causes sounded worse so that's what I'm going for.

Saturday was a Mom to Mom Sale at my grandson's preschool so I stopped by there and then went to lunch with them.

Today I went to church then came home and defrosted my freezer. My grandaughter and I had a snowball fight with the frost. Then she and my grandson and I picked gourds withtheir mom. We got out markers and decorated them. They went swimming with their dad and we had tacos for dinner. They left at abot 8:00. I took a nap for about an hour and a half after they left and now I can't get back to sleep.

Snowball fight decorating gourds and swimming at he same house on the same day how crazy.

    Blue

So scary about your grandson. They can get in trouble even when you watch them like a hawk.

Ann - dying to see your litty now, after all of your efforts. You can always right-click on the image on Facebook, choose "copy image url" then come here and click on the tree icon and paste the link to where it says "image url". Then click on "insert." Hope that works.

Want to see the "litty" too!

Blue - OMG, that is so scary! Little guys can move so fast, even when they are being watched.

Got another NED at MDA this week! Never thought I'd be "thankful" for the SE of Tykerb but I am.

Wishing for calm, pain free, and is it too much to want miracles(?). (((((NIKKI)))))

    Great news Scuttlers!!!!

Had the interview - it took an hour and they asked some really tricky/interesting questions. I did my best. It's nearly 5 years since I did a job interview so I'm a lot out of practice. I wish it had been earlier in the day so I was less tired, but whatever - it's done now. Now I have to wait to see the outcome. I still have no idea who else applied. I do have my mind made up not to be disappointed if I don't get it.

    Great news, scuttlers!!

Blue, how terrifying. You have to watch them like a hawk. When I had a pool, I did have a fence but even with their parents there, I still watched them like a hawk when they were near the pool.

Blue, my baby was at a pool party with her friends when she slipped off into the deep end.  (The pool has a slick vinyl bottom and a steep dropoff.)  The next second, I was in the pool, fully dressed, holding my baby above my head!  I still play the horrible "what if" games in my mind, and I imagine you and the whole family are, too. Ugh.

After that incident, I wrapped her in bubble wrap and didn't unwrap her until her 20th birthday.  Bubble wrap is also a good floatation device!

Feeling better today.  Turkey's in the oven.  Apple cider is in the the slow cooker waiting for its rum.  Ray is working on the stuffing.  Sweet potatoes are boiling.  DD is coming up to make cranberry sauce and peas and rice.  I will make salad and rappini.  Pies for desert and prickly pears.  Probably forgot something but it will come together.

After dinner, pumpkin and gourd picking.

    E, thank God I didn't witness it.  I would have jumped in too.....but I can't swim.

    Have a nice day.

Blue, terrifying, have shivers reading the post.  Don't know how you "wipe the drama" from your thoughts, or the horrible "what if's" - but as one who had back surgery years ago, I can tell you it's the STRESS causing those back spasms - and if they continue, PLEASE see a physiotherapist to work on the muscles, to get you out of the "loop" - which is what it becomes.

John Sarno, has some wonderful books on how to rid yourself of back pain.  Several orthopedic surgeons have also come to the same conclusions he has, back spasms, are at the root of most back pain.  Many people with fewer discs( like me) can tell you it's the muscles, spasms, causing the pain.

SusieQ - hoping you have a great interview.

I'm drooling at all the talk of cookies, one of my regrets was being too old to grow up with Sesame Street, but I sure do love Kermit - and all his Rainbow songs.  Love them.

Instead of cookies - I will be eating dried fruit.  Visiting a friend who had a dehydrator going & she gave me a little piece of dried apple. Delicious.  No sulfates ( which do a real number on my digestion) and I just ordered one. Going to a friend's farm today to get apples.  I am amazed at how much sweeter a piece of dried fruit is than the original apple slice.  I'm also planning to try cranberries.  Will let you all know how it goes. SO much cheaper than buying dried fruit, and no additives.

Sunny and DRY DRY DRY today.  Lovely Fall weather - hope all have a Happy Canadian Thanksgiving and it continues every day.

    Oh, I didn't doubt kad2kar, I was just astonished!

Thanks for the video, Sunflowers.  Now I know why I don't like golf - bears, alligators (Florida), Tiger, and now sharks.   Why don't they just build booby traps and let lions loose on the course??

Edited to add:  Yay Scuttlers!  I missed your news!  Fantastic!

I thought it might be an October joke?  But it's been there for years - and they're breeding  - another reason not to want to play golf.

    Hi Everyone!

Scuttlers .. I'm so tickled about your good news!  Hoping for years and years of dancing with NED!

Blue .. I can't even imagine how scared you were.  My folks had a pool and Luke started swimming lessons when he was 6 months old.  My mom even hired someone to come to their house and give him private lessons as well.

I got in two reports so I'm a happy camper working today.  And Mr. Tim got a run to Denver, so that's great news as well!

Hoping everyone has a great day,

    Bren
