concerned about mixed results

My first Pathology report came back ER-/PR+/HER2- so I was a candidate for Tamoxifen. A second Pathalogy was ordered and it came back ER-/PR-/HER2- so I'm not a candidate after all. I'm pretty sure they are going to test further to get the right result. But in the meantime, I'm concerned about what all that means. Can any of you beautliful ladies help me understand?

    Right now I'm ER-/PR+/HER2- but all the doctors say that's impossible, you can't be PR+ and ER-. The pathology came back ER 0% and PR 90% (as did a retest) so I really want to know what's going on. My MO said that we needed to do a test for ER/PR that tests a different way. The original was done using IHC.MO also said that with ER-/PR+ I'm a candidate for Tamoxifin.

    We just submitted for the Oncotype DX which uses PCR instead of IHC and I'm curious to see how the results come back. If they come back as ER/PR both - that throws you into triple negative territory which means likely chemo as I understand it.

     If all you're getting is + and - and no actual amounts, then you could be right on the border of what they call + and - . I've read that some labs call 5% negative and some call negative on slightly different %'s, so different labs may have different thresholds. I'd see if you can get the actual numbers as they might be able to shed some more light on your confusion.
