    I don't know if it's a full moon, but I saw a double rainbow earlier this evening.  Just gorgeous!

    I'm weird. I love doing laundry. I love the sorting, I love the way it smells when it comes out of the dryer, I love folding and sorting. It completes me. Wink

    Haha, you guys crack me up! Specially the dirty laundry. Not one of my favorite jobs but then again I can;t complain to much since DH really does all the real dirty jobs like going out and picking up all the doo-doo in the dog run! With 4 dogs around I think it.s a job for a front end loader, either that or ya gotta wear a biological war suit! Guess my deal is the better end of the stick!

    Howdy gals. Back home at last. What a cluster but I am home at last...TUL-ATL-TPA.



    Evie, I love the iris! My favorite flower, well I had a tree peony that was to die for. I miss it.



    The cat is so happy to see me she is in my lap along with the iPad. Waiting for the next call about the job. Probably early next week, I hope!



    Here's to a great weekend for all (except me 'cause I have to work all weekend).

    Dinner was excellent - roast leg of lamb is DH's favourite. I said "welcome home" as we were eating. The Sacher torte was yummy too - served it with a little vanilla ice cream. Nothing beats home cooking and bought cake :)

    Morning all - 97 percent humidity. Life in a swamp - sigh. Politics is only the second worst thing in DC. The weather is by far the first.

    Good morning!  Wasn't able to check in yesterday, so I have a lot of catching up to do.

    Cindy, how thrilling that you're going to the NBCC's advocacy training!  I really respect them and the work that they're doing, and would love to attend one of their conferences/trainings, but have never been able to.  I hope you'll tell us all about it . . . maybe a bunch of us could go one year.  (Is this in DC, or do they hold separate regional events?)

    Thenewme . . . as a runner, I have to ask: what DO you want your husband to do with his stinky running clothes??  To avoid that whole stinky hamper situation, I just take mine into the shower with me and rinse them out there, then hang them up to molder, er, I mean dry.  I'm sure that also drives my non-running SO crazy, but he's too sweet to complain (not that you're not sweet . . . the fact that we're in different cities most of the time makes it easier for him to tolerate my idiosyncracies).  He has yet to put them in a pile in the driveway, that's for sure!

    On the food front, it's been like a Festival of Beets around here lately.  Dinner one night was an enormous beet and goat cheese salad, the next was gemelli pasta with sauteed beet greens, garlic, walnuts and (secret ingredient) preserved lemon.  The salad was good, but the pasta was REALLY good.  Also, an almondy plum crumble for dessert.  I love fall.

    "Beauty and the Breast". Who comes up with these names? I just got invited to "Bingo for Boobs".

    There are "pink prizes" for the games and door prizes. My nasty litle mind is coming up with all kinds of door prizes. Free chemo sessions, a wig, prosthetics. scarves... I will not go on.

    Hi Everybody ... I've got a busy day planned too.  Going to a pork roast up in the moutains.  Should be a fun time, with lots of food, a band and beer wagons!

    I too have a busy day (weekend) planned - the weather is awesome - in the 70s (for those of you in the U.S.) clear, sunny, low humidity - I AM GOING TO CLEAN MY APARTMENT.  Honestly, I cannot stand it another minute (I think the dog is packing to leave) - at least I got caught up on the laundry earlier in the week but now on to the dreaded dusting.......

    Those breast cancer "awareness" slogans get more and more tasteless by the second.  Lots of kitsch and silliness, no cure or good treatments. Let's give non-awareness a try. :-)

    ETA: Lovely watercolors by Evie! I especially like "Dancing in the Sunlight" - those flowers really do look alive!

    The problem is that I am aware and don't like it shoved in my face. Walgreen's put pink lids on prescriptions last year, I guess so that people would think about breast cancer. I, for one, think about it too much. I had them put a note on my record not to give me pink lids. I hope they don't do it this year because if they do DH will get them.

    A teacher at a nearby school had a double mastectomy FRiday. All the kids were given and wore pink tee shirts Thursday. If everybody at work wore pink tee shirts the day before my surgery I would have hidden all day. I know it was support and kind of cool that even the boys would do that but what a big reminder that your boobs are coming off tomorrow.

    I seem to be the threadkiller with that so I will change topics. I went outsied and did some gardening. I came in when it started to rain. I only got one flower bed about halfway weeded. I decided to have a quiet day at home. This past month has done me in what with a new cat a new car a new baby six hours away who we had to go see when she was just a day old and getting my son to and from work after the transmission in his car died again. I am grateful I did not have to help him get a car, his dad did that.

    I have a flower girl dress for my granddaughter to make and have come to a tricky part, so will save that for later.

    and btw rosemary b.... about 10 years ago Melissa a 2nd grade teacher was diagnosed with breast cancer.  After she lost her hair, the 2nd grade boys had a shave - a - thon.. it was the most touching thing.. Many of the other boys in the school shaved their heads as well.  I need to drag up a picture of the 2nd graders.  Melissa is fine now.  I think it super cool that all the parents went along with the idea.. a mother did the shaving at her house.

    That is touching. My son-in-law shaved his head and said it was in solidarity with me because I had lost my hair- but only when he was being teased at work. It did shut people up though.

    I am really ambivalent about all the awareness activities, maybe it is selfish because I am aware, thank you very much.

    Morning girls. I slept really well last night - no complaints from DH. I took my Super Krill oil last night, hoping that would help - seems like it did.

    My plan for today is to watch my usual political tv shows that are the Sunday morning routine and then go shopping to buy myself a birthday present. The political TV should be interesting today as our government is very unpopular at the moment and there are all sorts of rumours the Prime Minister should be rolled.

    Bacon and eggs are on the menu for DH - have you noticed how I spoil him?

    Gorgeous day for a walk on the bayshore trail today. I saw ducks, geese, seagulls, a heron and some swans - all without a camera. The leaves are just starting to turn colours. Came  home and picked some grapes from the vines on my front porch.

    Blue I hope you had a good day without meds.  How long do you think you can go without them? 

    It is STEAMY HUMDID HOT in MA. So strange.  Some rain, but today felt worse than August, on this second day of the Fall. Leaves are falling, without changing colors - even the two huge Maple trees in front of my cabin are more brown than anything else.  I feel so sorry for all the folks who really need the tourists "leaf peepers" at this time of year.  Very unusual.

    But there will be a Winter, that's for sure.  And home heating oil went from $2.50 a gallon we paid last year, to over $3.50 this year. Grim.  But I keep my little place at about 60 - wear sweaters, layers, and it's quite comfortable.  Even lower temp for night timeWink

    I didn't notice, as Blue said she did last night, weirdo stuff going on, but aybe I slept thru it??

    A grand breakfast was had by all! And a grand lunch/dinner by all, too!



    Sunflowers, thanks for asking ... I have been lurking but just too tired to think of clever things to say. Mostly I just nap and read, which is tiring so I nap again!



    All the drains are gone (have been drain-free for a couple weeks) but my belly incision opened in the center and I have some fat necrosis. I now have a wound and have to dress it (urgh!), but it seems to be getting better. i see my PS once a week, so I am being followed closely. Not to worry.



    I am supposed to return to work October 3, but am not really sure about doing that with a belly wound. May have to reconsider...



    Hi to akk, Happy Birthday to our recent Birthday Girls, welcome home to SusieQ (have enjoyed your travelogues tremendously!), glad to see you, Otter (missed your posts!), and hugs and smooches to all my other friends ...oh, and welcome to the new ones and welcome back to returnees!



    Rest assured I am paying attention ... Just can't marshal brain cells into saying something fun.



    Well... Except DH does the laundry and does a beautiful job. He also carries handkerchiefs, which make me shudder ... But he washes them himself, so that's OK.
