E--how's your thyroid? You can lose hair in odd places if it's out of whack!
-
E[- Buenos dias to you too - might a visit to a dermatologist be in order - I think they ought to be able to help us through these stupid se's we all keep getting - did you need a prescription for the Latisse?
-
I sometimes wonder if the belief that chemo always has more SEs than hormone therapy is a huge misconception and may actually not be the case for most people.
-
Sun, so glad you are really into this. You'll have to post some stuff so we can critique. This reminds me, It's a rainy day...can't go for my walk and I do LOVE botanicals. I think I'll mosey into my studio and come up with a nice floral.
-
Welcome, artsee!

Athena -- Re the chemo vs hormone therapy SE issue: For those of us less than Stage IV, perhaps it's more an issue of long-term SEs. As well, SEs are so individual. I managed to get through FEC with nothing much more than fatigue, but Taxotere was a nightmare. Others here have experienced the opposite. Some have had no SEs from Femara/Arimidex/Aromasin, and yet there are numerous threads outlining the mild to severe SEs experienced by BC members here. But, other than a "comes and goes" mild neuropathy, my chemo SEs are over. My Femara SEs linger, for as long as I'm taking it.Perhaps the SE that never leaves us is the worry -- will it return?
-
Hi, artsee, nice to see you in here! I lurk in the creative thread and I've enjoyed your work.
Susie, what a beautiful grandbaby! Thanks for sharing your trip with us.
Bren and Barbara good luck with your work prospects.
Hugs to all!
I know it's early but could I please have a drink anyway? I know, how about a Bloody Mary? The tomato juice should mean it's healthy and ok even though it's not yet noon...right?...please. I have been pretty tied up recently. DH decided to take early retirement and if we got everything in by a certain time it meant some extra money so we've been run ragged with appointments and filling out forms, etc. I think everything is squared away now so I can finally relax and breathe.
-
Drink away, RR!
Lindasa: To complicate things even further, there is no evidence that side effects are positively related to therapeutic effect (though that is a frequent misconception) so a great responder may have no SEs or horrible SEs or anything in between.
I sometimes think taking medications are like having boarders in your house. You allow these things into your body because they are necessary, but in the meantime, they really do grow and evolve and have a life inside you, changing and forming new habits and effects without prior notice. The novels different medications have spun in my body over the years amaze me. I think they have a more fun life, with more variety, than I do!

E's Arimidex clearly has a twisted sense of humor.
-
RR - it's 5:00 somewhere in the world!! Bloody Mary coming up.
-
Hail to the Bartender-in-Chief!
-
The service here is awesome!
-
Athena .. great analogy on the boarders in our body. It is so true!
Sunflowers and Artsee .. enjoy your painting today. I check the creative thread as well and you guys are doing fabulous art.
River Rat .. Wow! You've got a lot going on. Early retirement, lots of forms, and then there's the DH who will always be home. ha!
Cindy and Jancie .. have fun in Vegas .. sounds like a blast!
Chaplain .. you're such a godsend! Thanks again. My gas hog eating truck thanks you too!
Now I'm all set to go pick my mom up on Sunday in Winston. It is muggy as all get out today. Cloudy and overcast, but steamy!
I'm kind of excited, I discovered a bunch of forensic psychologists on the net that I haven't contacted yet .. so I need to get busy on that project.
Hope everyone is having a good day!

Bren, DH is a busy guy. He's one of those guys that can always manage to be busy doing something and he will be doing some consulting work part-time on the side for the company that he has been working for until they can build the resources to handle what he has been doing so I don't imagine I'll get too tired of him. He has assured me that there will be more home time than consulting time which I am very OK with. Seriously, after getting hit with two different cancers I didn't know if I'd live to see this day. Serious happy dancing going on here!
I hope you manage to land a lot of work with those forensic psychologists.
-
River ... I miss Tim terribly when he's gone .. so I know how you feel. He's a big boy and can entertain himself without my help when he's home. I'm so happy you are here to enjoy your retirement with DH. I hope you both enjoy all the coming years together!
Big hugs,
Bren
-
RR - the best part is hearing that you are here to enjoy it all after two cancers.
-
Thanks, friends.

Thanks, friends.
I don't know why I got a duplicate post and I was going to edit out the duplicate but what the heck, might as well have two thank you posts instead of one of those "post deleted" place holders.

I've had my thyroid checked and everything's fine.
I had this once before, as I was recovering from the first round of chemo (ACT). Both sets of eyelashes would grow in, then fall out completely, then grow in again. This went on for 3 or 4 cycles before they decided to just hang in there. I've never had just one set fall out, and not this long after chemo (CT the second time, finishing January 2010).

As I say, that Arimidex has some nasty one-liners (no pun intended).
-
I swear Arimidex plays with us and sits there rubbing its hands together and laughing. I came back from the dreaded dentist (just had a cleaning) and trying to catch up.
-
Morning girls - I actually slept all night and woke up at a normal time - jet lag over with I hope. DH has not done as well but at least he slept all night too. I swept all of the leaves off the pool cover yesterday afternoon - today I'll have to wash it and roll it up - at least the pool didn't go green while we were gone.
I know I shouldn't be in such a hurry to get everything done, but I do have to go back to work on Monday and no one else will do it, although I will leave the sweeping up around the pool to DH.
Read some of my work emails last night - they are looking for volunteers to go to Shanghai for 6 weeks at a time to train people - tempting - DH said go for it, if I want. He's still going on about my Pepsi Max addiction and my other naughty addiction but I notice he keeps making teas and coffee and stuffing his face.
Poppy is loving being home - she spent most of the day on a box on top of a wardrobe yesterday - one of her favourite places. She's on our bed at the moment and was there when we woke up.
DH's pc just crashed and keeps asking me why it happens - how would I bloody know - lucky I have my imaging software to restore it - off to do my pc support role and I haven't even had breakfast yet.
Sue
-
Sue, glad you slept well - I love your morning chronicles.
-
PC restoration under way!!! Time for breakfast I think. Oops no, got to call and make a doc appt for DH - no he's too lazy to do it himself. Maybe I will go to Shanghai

-
Blue .. wanted to let you know that the "Last of the Mohicans" is on the IFC channel tonight.
hugs,
Bren
-
Thanks for the heads up!
-
Ok - pool cover done - nearly killed myself doing it, it's a shit of a job. Also folded the washing. I'm all clean now and off to get the pool water tested.
If you wonder why the frenetic working as soon as we got home - it's my birthday tomorrow and I'm going to sit on my bum and be totally idle all day - so there.
Sue
-
E, you are beautiful, with one set of eyelashes. So there.
Hi guys. Did I tell you that I hate my job? Oh, yeah, I did but hope springs eternal AND tomorrow I go HOME!!! YAY!
-
Happy early birthday susieq. Enjoy it.
-
Aww thanks Barb! You really think so? *batting right eye since the left one DOESN'T HAVE LASHES*
I hate your job, too! Glad you're going home, and I hope you hear good news from NewJob people soon!
Happy Birthday, susie!!
