Hey, Susie, tell your DH he needs to go to CA = Complainers Anonymous - or an organization for people addicted to complaining. Just Kidding (just came up with that). I'm sure he is a wonderful person. Maybe he'll laugh when you make the suggestion. :-)
-
LOL - trouble is he never changes his bad habits - the worst is dumping his dirty clothes on the floor in the bedroom when the laundry basket is close by in our ensuite. I swear I might just stop picking them up one day and then eventually he'll complain he has no clean clothes.
-
Hahahaha Susieq58, a couple of weeks ago I got tired of asking my DH not to leave his stinky running clothes in the bedroom hamper, to no avail.
While he was at work, I took chalk and drew a HUGE red circle/slash in the driveway and dumped the clothes in it. It was kinda funny to watch neighbors as they drove by wondering what it was! It worked. He finally got the message :-D
-
Thenewme ... you're cracking me up!!
What a shock for DH to find when he got home from work!
hugs,
Bren

I mailed my ex's dirty socks to his office.
-
Wow, you guys got some guts...I like that. I don't know what would happen to me if I dumped DH dirty skibbies inside a circle in the driveway. Oh my...he'd probably hang mine from the front (road) mailbox!
Sunflower asked me to post my website....am not here to brag..really.

Happy Birthday to everyone having a birthday on the 23 or 24th . No knowing so many I don't want to leave anybody out. Well, it's 4 p.m. on Friday and you know what that is right? Yup, drinking time. Have a wonderful evening everyone. We are going out with a son and DL and their two boys. I am so lucky they want to spend time with us. Tomorrow, it's a gambling trip. Wish me LUCK!
Hugs, Artsee

Too funny about the clothes!
Can't wait to get to the BCO B&G. I am stuck here at work for what seems like eternity, loads of things to get done still....bartender, hold the placemat, please!
-
Evie .. thanks for posting your website. The painting of the iris' is my favorite. Love the colors and shadows. Have fun tonight with the family!
Well .. I procrastinated on my cleaning to the point where now I'm in a frenzy. I'll be gone all day tomorrow and my mom arrives early Sunday. ackkk. Why do I do this???? The cleaning fumes from the bathroom nearly killed me. Aha! That's probably why I put it off for so long.
hugs,
Bren

Happy Birthdays scuttlers and susieq!!!
I did the refusing to wash ex's dirty clothes that weren't in the hamper thing once. Didn't really solve the problem though. DH version 2 is an upgrade who does his own laundry.
Took both the dogs to the groomer yesterday ... now I have nice smelling doggies and a ton less fur on each.
Kad2kar ... when hubby starts that early cleaning stuff can you maybe sneak out of the house and go get some coffee elsewhere. If he's working hard enough maybe he won't notice you are gone until it's all done.
I'll sit here and drink and save your place until you get done with the work thing Athena. Think I'll start with a Mai Tai. Just pour me out of the chair when you get here.
Glad to see everybody checking in!
Forgot to say Welcome to artsee!! I know what you mean about considering potential paybacks. My ex is a funny guy and a jokester ... putting his dirty undies in the driveway would have surely resulted in
payback for me

WhiteRabbit - I like the idea of an upgrade

We've decided not to go out tonight - lamb was on special this week and I'll do a lamb roast (better than eating out and I'm over restaurant food), but I'm going to go and buy a strawberry gateau. Now DH said I've had the best present in the world for my bday aka the overseas trip. But, he got to go too and it's not his bday - so no present for him come February.

Oh, Blue - that's a GOOD one! I'm filing that one away for use later!~ I'm not big on nagging, but sometimes I really need to make a point. DH is an awesome guy, just not too good with subtleties, haha! I'm also fully expecting him to bust out some kind of not-so-subtle message on me when he sees that I used a screwdriver as a chisel to remove some wall texture (who knew it would actually round the corners of the screwdriver LOL!?)
I forgot to say happy birthday to all those celebrating recently!
Save some room for me at the BCOB&G!

Hi, all. otter here, lurking/not posting. I'm winding down from an overly-eventful trip to the old homestead, to help with division of belongings. I am now at my in-laws, and my heart rate and BP are decreasing but I am still feeling way too grouchy. (Grouchy otter = bad)
Artsee, there is no plan or formula for this thread. It just happens. People here talk about anything, any time. We do disagree occasionally (like about curly-fry bulbs and whether or not guinea pigs are edible), but we honor each other by being respectful. Sometimes that requires sitting on our hands so as to not let our busy fingers get ahead of our hearts and minds. It's kind of like a homeroom for adults, or maybe like our own version of the bar, "Cheers"... where everybody knows your name.
We talk about food, because 1) we like to eat; 2) we like to share favorite recipes or weird food ideas; and 3) as a diversion when it appears that a particular topic might threaten world peace. I can't begin to count the number of things I've learned about foods here.
I have no complaints at all about dh's attitude toward laundry. He puts all his dirty clothes in a clothes hamper on his side of the walk-in closet. He never complains about how, or when, I do laundry (laundry is my job in our relationship), unless he's running out of socks or underwear. When that happens, he sort of whimpers and asks politely if I know where there might be more of his clean clothes. He actually does his own whites, because our water has too much dissolved iron and whites eventually take on a cream/pale beige color. I don't care, because my undies and bras are mostly that color anyway. But he likes his T-shirts and handkerchiefs to be white; so he does them himself and throws in a capful of special stuff (Iron-Out?). Can't argue with that, eh?
See, I am already calming down. Plus, dh is scooping me a dish of chocolate ice cream even as I type this.

Oh, Otter - it's SO good to see you, but PLEEEEASE don't tell me your DH really uses handkerchiefs?? Come on....say it ain't so! I'm all for reusable items and environmental awareness, but that, along with diapers, is one I'll never do over disposables, heehee!
Oh, and ... please pass the ice cream my way! YUM!
PS - Artsee, beautiful work - wow! You have some talent!
-
Hey my DH uses handkerchiefs, he also just asked me what that thing was on the floor(something that had fallen out of the hamper. All of his laundry ALWAYS goes in the hamper, but if he throw something out there is a 50/50 chance it will land on the floor.
-
YOU MAILED THEM TO HIS OFFICE????? That is the BEST thing I've ever heard. Fantastic - doncha wish you could have BEEN there when he opeded the package...tee, heee......
Nice to see you otter, the way things are going, all we ave to do is put some abalone in the field next to my cabin, and the way it's raining, you'll have your own lake. Sorry about the grouches - hope the sunshine drives them away.
Isn't artsee an AMAZING artist - wow, and I now know how difficult it is to be that "loose" with watercolors and still be ablet o represent what you want the viewer to see. Hope she posted the geese primping

-
Sunflowers, you could always raise crawfish in your flooded field. Otters (river otters, anyway) really love crawfish.
I fell in love with artsee's water color (watercolor?) paintings the first time I saw them (in digital format of course -- I haven't seen them in-person).
thenewme: yes, indeed, hubs uses handkerchiefs. I've always thought actually using a handkerchief was gross. Stuffing it back into one's pocket after using it was unimaginable. But, he likes to have one in his pocket, even though he usually uses kleenex if there's a box within reach. I am laughing as I type this, because I almost asked to borrow his handkerchief during dinner tonight. We were out at a casual restaurant, and my nose started getting drippy.... but, of course, the slacks I was wearing had just been washed and had no kleenex in the pocket, and my purse was stowed in the back of the truck so my MIL and I could fit in the front seat next to dh. (I don't want to talk about that.) I just sniffled and snuffed and ate my meal quickly, so we could get back to the truck.
Gotta go. dh has decided we need to head back to the campground for the night. Fortunately, we have electricity and even a cell/internet signal at this one. Night to all! (unless I have time to check back in an hour).

WR, thank you for holding my place. Just sipping my wine.
I hate laundry. It is the one chore I will avoid if I can. Too bad that humans can't go naked. I am so jealous of lovely furry things with tails who just wake up and are gorgeous as is.
-
Any news from Happy Libby? Is she on vacation - and healing, I hope. Maybe I missed her post?
-
Too funny, Otter! Thinking about you sniffling the night away, hurrying dinner so you could rush back to the truck for a kleenex???!!! I'd rather use my sleeve than think about old boogers in my pocket or in the laundry with my dishcloths and washcloths - eewww, LOL! At least your DH washes them himself, presumably without the other household laundry! How long do you plan to be "roughing it?" I can't remember whether you're on a trip or if this is a long-term thing.
-
Artsee -- I LOVE your peonies! Those and tulips are my favourite flowers -- oh, and a well-scented rose too. Love seeing SoCalLisa's photos on some other threads. I'm a musician (which came easily to me) but put a pencil or crayon in my hand and my brain goes numb. I envy such creativity.
DH uses handkerchiefs too. I launder them but I DO NOT iron them! He's good with the laundry hamper and really good with fixing laundry appliances, so I'm happy to be the designated laundress! But Athena, I think, too, how lovely it would be to be covered in fur instead of going clothes shopping and trying to find something that fits this new shape I'm in!
Happy Birthday to Scuttlers and Susie from a fellow Libran!
-
Had to get a Sacher Torte - no strawberry cakes - I'm not complaining

-
I'm dying to put a chocolate lava cake in the oven but am resisting. Going nuts though!
-
Resistance is futile. Chocolate ... chocolate fudge ... yum.
ETA I knew it. She's not answering because she's in the kitchen making that cake
-
You know me so well! Only Ray is making it for me....does that count?
-
Iron? What's an iron?
Oh, I remember. Last time I used one, DH took a picture because he knew he'd probably never see THAT again! And I think that was 10 years ago...
-
I only buy clothing that laughs at the very idea of wrinkles. My favorite is a beautiful black dress that's appropriate for work and an evening out. You can ball up that sucker and stuff it in a coffee can and it'll still come out wrinkle-free.
-
E, please tell me where you got that dress and who makes it. I need one in every color. Free drinks for life for the info!!!!
-
I bought it on sierratradingpost.com. I'll see if I can find it!
-
Nah, they don't have it any more. I found the order and I paid $27 for it, but it's out of stock now.
-
Just take stuff out of the dryer in time not to get wrinkled. I haven't used an iron in years (not that I could, even if I wanted to. It might be considered a lethal weapon in my hands). Is it a full moon? The wingnuts are out in full force tonight.
