Thanks gals .. I'm desperate for the work.  It means a lot to me to have you in my corner!

Susie .. your grandson is so beautiful .. I really want to hug him.

Jancie .. so sorry you woke up with a big headache.  I hope you're getting some relief.

Barbara .. thinking of you and hoping your interview has been rescheduled.

Athena .. I'm not much for the burbs either.  I've never been to Manhattan, but I do enjoy San Francisco.  Ever since I left California, I've lived in the country, and much prefer it.

Sunflowers .. I always stop for the turtles!  The only problem I have with them is they get sucked up into my riding mower when I mow the fields.  Thank god I haven't killed one yet!

    hugs,

    Bren

Has anyone ever heard the expression "shit floats to the top"?  Sorry. I am a scatological prude, so for me to even say this is rare. Another way of putting it is that people are usually promoted to their level of utter incompetence.

Basically, my immediate supervisor is one of these floaters. It is stupidity, ignorance, obtuseness or all three - I am not sure which, or in which combination and it no longer matters, because the result is painful no matter what.

Case study: I say that I have an MRI scheduled and that there is a chance that the doctor could call me and have me see him without delay about the result, said doctor being a specialist. Now, even before BC, if someone used the words "MRI" and "specialist", I knew enough to know it wasn't just a routine check-up where you open your mouth and go "ahhhh." Even pre-cancer, one does have some basic sense of what is serious and what is not, right?

I added that any summons from my doctor based on the MRI results might necessitate absence from work at a rather inconvenient time without much advance notice (maybe two or three days). This person responds by reminding me to make sure I check the internal calendar because it's going to be a busy time and that for doctor's appointments one usually has to give x notice in y way, especially during z time, and that I might benefit from printing out a copy of the internal calendar to have handy in case I forget to consult the calendar. This person knows I have a history of BC.

I felt obligated to respond that if an MRI causes a specialist to summon one immediately, work interests come second - especially when one has a history of cancer. Haven't heard back yet. Maybe I will have to explain what "MRI" is..... Hopefully this person will keep floating up higher and higher until we are no longer on the same planet. :-)

Susie -- It must have been SO hard for you to say bye-bye to that beautiful baby, but I'm glad you are home safe and sound, and that Poppy is acting as though she missed you (not being snarky, by the way -- but we both know how cats think!!!).

Hope your biorhythms soon right themselves and that dear son and family soon get tired of the UK and return home -- where they belong, yes?!!

Athena - how freaking stupid is this person?  You don't always get the choice of when you have doctor's appointments!  I would be ready to bop that person upside the head!

Thanks again girls - he is quite gorgeous. I love that now I just have to think of him and I can see him in my mind which I couldn't do before - still heart breaking to be so far away.

Athena - pity you don't work for my mob - nothing is ever a problem, they're all about us. For instance I had made my appts for my checks before we left and I go back on Monday, but have Wednesday off for my zometa infusion. I also have another day off in October for my mammo/us/mri - all on special leave, so it doesn't impact my annual leave or sick leave. I hope your MRI comes out OK - not sure I want one after last time.

OK, The interview happened quite on schedule with my pea brain getting screwed up between central and east time. It went quite well and I really think he liked me. Parting words were that the 'recruiter' (they have a very defined recruitment process at this company) will get back in touch with me for 'next steps'. Woo Hoo!

    Bren, everything crossed for you!!

    Athena, WTF??

Is anyone else as over the 'new' FaceBook as I am? Google+ here I come.

    Yey Barbara!

We have lots to toast to - surprised that our esteemed chaplain and chief bartender has not put in an appearance.

A colleague of mine says she is also unhappy with the changes at Facebook. I am horrified with how that company manipulates its users. I think they forgot who made them rich in the first place.

Barbara .. glad to hear this step went so well.  Looking forward to the next step.

I'm not thrilled with the new FB either.  I don't understand why they made the changes in the first place.

Haven't seen our bartender either .. hope all is well in Chi-town.

    hugs,

    Bren

Okay, would anyone like to explain to me why I've lost all of the lashes on my left eye?  Just the left, mind you.

Having said that, I'm sending a kick in the head to Athena's supervisor, crossing my extremities for Barb and Bren, sending healing vibes and an ice pack to Jancie, and holding out a glass for the bartender to fill when she gets back.  Put something in there that'll put hair on my chest, will ya?  Then I can mow it and glue it to my eyelids.

    Jeez!

Cindy - I so hope that you make it to Vegas!!  Usually by brunch on Sunday I am a little bit hung over from the Piano Bar on Saturday night - well actually early Sunday morning that I don't opt for the champagne brunch - just regular brunch.

Damned Arimidex....the gift that keeps on taking.  Sorry about the eyelashes E.  Every joint in my body needs a lube job.

You're still a very pretty lady, just like Athena said.

    Have fun in Vegas ladies.

Athena, you're describing the Peter Principle.  http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Peter_Principle There used to be a book by that name. The Peter Principle is "in a hierarchy, every employee tends to rise to his level of incompetence", or that people are promoted so long as they work competently. Eventually they are promoted to a position at which they are no longer competent (their "level of incompetence"), and there they remain, being unable to earn further promotions. A corollary states that all actual work is done by those employees who have not yet reached their level of incompetence.

Barb - great news that the interview went ahead and it does sound promising - best of luck!!!

Did the food shopping. When DD cleaned out our fridge she really cleaned it out. All stocked up now which means I have to learn to cook again - crap.

Went to the physio and will see him again next week. All that washing I did now needs folding and I'm doing hand washing now. I feel like a nap - waking at 4 is the pits.

    Good Morning -

Baraara - SO hapy to hear your news - now the company knows how much you travel!  Sounds good, really, good. Still, fingers crossed.

Bren- fingers crossed for your getting the work too.  Have toes for anyone else who needs them.

Enjoyful - I agree with Blue, I think it's the Arimidex. I call it being a member of the A Team.  Every once in a while, somehthing just "kicks" me - I did the eyelash thing, on BOTH eyes, now I'm doing eczema: the kind, according to my doc, is along the bottom edges of the nose, inner edges of the eyebrows, and EARS.  GIVE ME A BREAK!  Did I mention I wear hearing aids?  Try itching your ears with the tiny receivers from hearing aids in there, sounds like you're being attacked by monsters ( and we all know they just hide under the bed)

Well, I could go on about my Love Affair with being selected for the A Team.  But...I am so, so, so grateful to have somethiing thta seems to be working, effective, well, I don't think sanity is all that it's cracked up to be, so I'll stay very confuzzled about Arimidex.

SusieQ - hope your physio works miracles, and your soon back to an acceptable "sleep pattern."

Athena, may I please have a copy of E's screen shot????  Be happy to help you send it viral ;)

Did I mention how EXCITED we residents of MA are to have Elizabeth Warren wanting to be our next US Senator, reclaiming what we all call the Kennedy seat - I dont watch morning TV, but she did Morning Joe yesterday, and was FABULOUS.  Very exciting.

Off to my watercolor painting class - Artsee, I am determined to learn thisWink Had a class in Botanical Art last night - teacher showed us books she's illustrated - WOW!  Feel so fortunate to have the chance to do all this.

RAIN - enuf with the rain!!!!  RAIN - "Dear Rain, please visit my friend in Texas."thanks, Sunflower

Awwwww thanks guys!  I ordered Latisse and should be getting it shortly.  I can tell that the lashes are trying to grow back so I guess that's a good sign.  I'm just so flummoxed that they'd fall out in the first place.

You're a lot more energetic than I, susieq!  Don't you know you're supposed to let the suitcases sit in front of the washer for about a week to give the washing fairies a chance to take care of the clothes for you?  They never do, though, do they.  Dang fairies.  I'm going to screenshot them, too!  HA!

    Buenos dias, everyone!
