    Omgosh .. can't believe we're already getting ready for Halloween.  yikes!

    Sunflowers .. I'm in a bit of a rural area too and don't get any trick or treaters.  It's just as well, as my dogs go crazy whenever someone comes to the door.  Love the visual of your court jester hat!!

    Doesn't sound dowdy at all, Sunflowers.  And that shoe is definitely NOT dowdy!  Don't tell me it glows in the dark, too?  Don't the streamers trip you up?  Or do you wrap them up your legs somehow?

    Mary - I've sent an email to everyone in Colombia, asking that they please learn to speak American in the next few weeks.  Thanks for the reminder.  American Exceptionalism means never having to speak another language.

    Mary, I was thinking the same thing!!!! I could almost hear AliMcGraw's voice in my head. Enjoyful - you guys are so wonderful - I always know I'll smile reading this thread....well, in the case of the exchange between the two of you, it's more of a VERY loud chortle!!  Just love it.

    E--sign language (not Blue's kind) will get you far when you can't speak the language. We were fortunate that so many people in Peru spoke English. My Spanish is only medical, and asking little ladies when their last period was did not seem helpful. For basics, know how to ask where, when, what, and how much. And bathroom, beer, and numbers. I found that I understand far more Spanish than I can speak. And when I try to speak, I get some odd amalgam of all the languages I've been exposed to--French, German, Spanish, and Turkish. Very confusing!

    E - did you see the mods announcement about the launch of BCO in spanish? Just go there and read - you'll already know what everything says, so it'll be a great place to learn. Then, you can say to the cab driver - "Have you had your mammo?"

    You guys are cracking me up!  AnneW, I beg to differ - I think you'd definitely get pretty far using Blue's sign language! Enjoyful, sounds like a great trip.  Be sure you find out the Spanish word for "screenshot" before you go.... you know, just in case!

    Sunflowers, Enjoyful-I'm glad I could make you laugh. 

    I'm feeling a bit unmoored at my job right now. Part of my day has been transferrred to a new school, and I'm kind of feeling like I don't truly belong in either place. It's just my perception, I'm sure-everyone is being very nice. I'm sure it will get better.

    You guys are cracking me up!  Most of the time I just read and giggle.

    Enjoyful, try this site and see if it would help you pick up some Spanish quickly.  They have lots of languages there and a really neat method...and it's free.  I was able to pick up some Mandarin Chinese, which I will never use but it's just the fun demo at the site.

    Duh, Lindasa - it's that stuff that falls out of people's heads and mucks up the floor shine.  Some people are especially prone to the disorder.  Seems to be rampant here in the dusty US of A, especially in the period leading up to elections.  You Canadians probably have free housecare to eliminate it before you notice it, eh?

    Didn'tchaknow?  Each Canadian house and apartment is equipped with invisible but powerful vacuums.  Then the sucked-up "dust" (as you call it) is transported way up to the tundra, which is why nothing much grows up there.  The "Eskimos" harvest it in the fall and use it as insulation for their "igloos" -- didn'tchaknow?

    I couldn't believe how shiny Blue's floors were too.  Linda's hardwoods look just like that too!  Since mine are dirty and dusty, it must be a Canadian thing!

    My kids used to call me Mama Three Arms (the third being the vacuum cleaner).  That would make a good Canadian Indian name come to think of it.

    I want somebody to invent a silent vacuum cleaner.  My Murphy cat was deaf and let me vacuum him a couple of times ... he looked marvelous afterward!  So I'm thinking if we could just get away with that with all of them it would be so much easier than the current drop fur on floor - vacuum up fur process.

    I'm way behind with you guys ... need to go back and read what has been happening.

    Hii!!!----The clean floors shiny furniture is definitely Canadian. My Mother-in-Love never had dust here in tha USofA,and the Canadian  son of hers that married 47yrs ago still doesnt understand that DUST & their BUNNIES arent my fault. Im a Californian bred and born. Beaches, and gardens and that big S word-----SMOG are part of ME.I was a rich girl born into a middleclass family, so well hidden, my servants were never able to find me. One vaca My MiLOVE came over to help get packed. I forgot she made me clean and around and when we got back from 2 week vaca, I thought we had been ROBBED!  Continue with your fun.  Love&Hugs.
