E, this is a link to a traveller's website that has all most popular phrases/ words to learn before going to Columbia

Morning All!
E .. that is so funny. My mother is a wanderer too! And she's tiny and can get away fast when you're not looking. You may also want to know "Donde esta el bano?" Where is the bathroom?
Kad2kar ... Happy Birthday! Another lovely Virgo.
Blue .. hope you're feeling better today and up for some day trips this week. Glad Ray is home this week to take you to your appointments.
Well .. I'm running on empty and need more coffee.
Hope everyone has a great day!
Bren
-
Pickle! Great tip! Gracias!
Oh Bren, el bano is tattooed on my forehead. You can never have enough el banos.
-
Rosetta Stone is great for learning quickly.
-
Very expensive, though. I found something on Amazon for $18. :-)
-
Yes, they are expensive.
-
You can always take me along with you. Spanish, Italian, it's all alike. heheheheheehe!
-
It's probably teaching me wrong, as a joke. I'm going to end up speaking LOLCATZ Spanish - "I can haz el bano?"
-
As long as it's not all Ceiling Cat lingo!
-
E-----Also one of the very important things to remember is speak LOUD-LOUDER-LOUDEST and then SCREAM at them if they dont understand you!!! kad
-
When I went to Cuba I should have learned to say " Puede ahorrar un cuadrado ?" Translation.."can you spare a square". Toilet paper was in very short supply.
-
Bahahahaha @ LOLCATZ Spanish!
All you need is Google: www.translate.google.com
-
E
I just wonder if the Smart Phones have a application for translation? I'll bet Ipod or one of them so!
-
E - if you have a smart phone, there are translation apps. Oh- but that might make roaming charges happen, maybe not so good an idea.
A friend of mine just came back from a trip where he faced similar issues. He learned some Spanish before he left from a mutual friend and reported that the best thing he did is always start in English even though he had some Spanish so that the person didn't start speaking a mile a minute as if he might understand.
-
oh Sunflowers - we posted at the same time - aren't we both clever?!
There are translation apps - I have one although it is a bit clunky to use and really it's not necessary at home.
-
I think a Dewars is in order as I must travel to Tulsa tomorrow noon. However, the second interview is Wednesday and I am praying my brains out. Returning Friday late, UGH.
-
I don't have a smart phone, so the translation app is out. I'm just trying to pick up a few necessary phrases - where is my mother, where is the bus, what is that, will you give me money, are you married, etc.
kad2kar - that's good to keep in mind. Everybody knows you can force someone to understand a foreign language simply by speaking LOUDLY. :-)
-
Enjoyful-I think you should force them to speak and understand English, because after all, you are an AMERICAN and they should respect that.

Mary
-
Agh, Barb, a stressful couple of days ahead for you. I have my phone alarm set for me to think positive thoughts at you and cross multiple body parts during your interview!
-
Barbara .. so sorry to hear you have to return to Oklahoma. yuck. I'm keeping my fingers crossed and sending good vibes for the interview. Is this the week you go to MO and see Chrissy? That part of the trip should be fun.
hugs,
Bren
-
Enjoyful .. I think you've got the basics covered .. I especially like "Will you give me money?" and "Are you married?" Too funny.
Where in Colombia are you going?
hugs,
Bren
EDITED: Mary you crack me up. I was looking for the "like" button!
-
I know it's kinda early, but i've already started....... I'm wearing the other one. hehe!

-
You ladies crack me up!
-
Blue - ok - I give up Is it a shoe????
It's kind of always Halloweeen where ever I live, cuz I have a gorgeous LARGE Purple Kitchen Witch hanging in my kitchen, near a lovely small wooden sign which says: If the broom fits, ride it .
-
LOL Sunflowers! It's a shoe. Guess it's a bad angle. Didn't have my glasses on.
-
If the shoe fits ......
-
Weellll, it's a gorgeous shoe. All I've got halloweeny is my plastic glow in the dark pumpkin earings and orange glittery socks. There are a few parades where I live - but the houses are so far apart, rural, there isn't any "trick or treating.: Which is probably a good thing. I didn't know it when I first moved here, bought lots of candy - which, yup, I wound up eating mysefl!!!! Never again. But the parades are fun. Good thing some friends still have young kids, great excuse to go out with them.
-
It fits real good!
-
We're going on a zombie walk....I don't even have to pretend.
-
LOL - I also have a Court Jester Hat - all different colors - with little silk balls at all the edges - and they LIGHT UP & blink on & off. Very 'classy' -
