I plan to drive over in the AM and leave late afternoon. I have too much traveling going on and Marty would be upset if I wasn't home for the weekend.

I am having a wonderful time with Chrissy B here, I think I want to keep her here and send for her DH to come join her and keep them both here forever!  We had a great time at the beach and Chrissy got to see the wave knock me down and carry me away while I was laughing so hard I could not stand up.  All you could see was my hat and my toes!  What fun and she got to get in the Atlantic Ocean.  We both did some shopping and got some new flip flops, swimsuits, shirts and wraps.  The hotel was so nice and we got some good rest too.

So happy that Chrissy's visit is going wonderfully!  So happy for all you who have been able to meet her.  Can't wait to see her here in Colorado in a couple of weeks.  Love the photos.

Maybe we could all gang up on her in Australia sometime.  Wouldn't that be great???

Lane - There's probably enough people who'd want to make the trip, to pay Chrissy a visit in Australia, that we could charter a jet. I'm game. Chrissy - how much time do you need to recover from your US tour before you're ready to take us in? LaughingWink

Ah, Chrissy the joys of being wonderful and famous... it's wonderful there is so much lovin' going on, because you can feel it clear up here in the Sierras.  Yummy stuff in the ether these days.

Along that vein, and not to diminish anyone's troubles, because you're always in my heart, BUT:

We finally took the little boat out blackberry picking at our wilderness lake. Only boat on the lake. There was a solo female camper in the only "accessible" campsite (all the rest are hike or boat in).  There were a gazillion or more dragonfilies. Calm winds. Blue skies, white puffy clouds, and everything green had gotten a bath from last week's thundershower.  Including the two gallons of thumb-size (super-organic) berries that we picked in an hour!

Most of the berries are in the freezer as we speak. The others went straight into our bellies.  At one point we had the boat inside a curtain of ripe berries that had climbed trees and hung out over the water, dangling huge clusters of berries.  It really felt like a scene from some feel-good movie.  I am so happy I just had to share.

Hugs to all.  Today I have to mow, and am making another batch of a chili-sauce. We have tomatoes, and I'm still sharing with neighbors everytime I see one.

    At least for today, Cool

So looking forward to hearing the news from Shell Knob! Have a magnificent time together!

I skipped over the scratches and brambles, and getting hooked by a big bramble when DH lost his grip on a branch, and in addition to raining blackberries, the HUGE spider that also fell from a limb right into my lap!Surprised

Lost Creek - Wow, that blackberry picking trip of yours reminds me of picking in the northern MI woods. Those Blackcaps hung like grapes, there were so many of them. Delish!!

Too funny LC!!! I was going to say that I would NEVER go under branches hanging over water because of spiders, but I didn't want to be a party pooper! YIKES! Those can be BIG ones!!!!!

Barbe, you would have laughed to see my antics as I sat wedged in the bow of the boat, with gear all around my feet (softside cooler, etc) - from time to time I'd carefully change positions or stand up & hook a particularly inviting cluster & would snip it off.  All easy enough on a stable platform, but in a small tippy boat, the balancing acts got a little comedic more than once.  Then when I realized the spider was there in my lap, it was time to get rid of the spider, without tipping the boat -- and going into the water & waterside briars & brambles & thick brush.

    Romantic Comedy-Action Movie-Geezer-style I suppose.

Today am a bit stiff from the unusual positions - but we figure there's one more week's real good berry picking up there for this season, and our plan is to go again this coming week.  Stay tuned.

Good morning, Ladies.   I am in MO now.....drove to my cousin's who live outside of St.Louis yesterday....am  actually very proud of myself for not getting lost....I have No sense of direction whatsoever!!  We are going to have a cookout with their adult kids this evening ( three still live here at home) and I am making grandma's famous German potato salad.  My cousins and I always like to joke about how she gave us each a different recipe for it, but that is because she did not follow a recipe and I do not either.  It's all in the tasting and I am thankful that the Xeloda I am now on does nothing to bother the sense of taste.  Tomorrow I head to Jefferson City.

I have never picked a blackberry or a raspberry in my life, but love raspberries.  The Battle of NO by Johnny Horten, right Eph3?  I  am going to miss you so much next week, Barb since we sort of planned Shell Knob together from the very beginning......work is a bitch, huh? I will be posting pics once I get together with the gals.
