scar tissue or tumor after chemo?

I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this and hoping for some assurance.

I finished Chemo (TC x 4) August 19 and had a mammogram and MRI subsequently since my surgeon didn't get clean margins.  I had DCIS, LCIS, invasive LC and invasive DC.  She told me the mammagram and MRI showed abnormalities.  She said it could be either scar tissue or more tumor. It is right where my lumpectomey was.  Has anyone else experienced this?  What is the likelihood that it is more tumor vs. scar tissue?  I have a biopsy scheduled for Sept. 20 and then it will be 4-5 days before I know the results.  So long to wait...

Thanks for any thoughts on this.

After my surgery and chemo I had a what felt like a pebble right underneath the skin.  (it's still there).  I did have a biopsy and it was fat necrosis. It's been 6 years since this happened, and I've had MRI's and mammograms and they have all come back fine.  You do need to check it out, but, it could be nothing.  I hope this helps.

I have a fairly significant lump of scar tissue right at my scar.  I would guess it is about 4 cm or maybe more.  It appeared within a couple of months of my surgery and got a bit bigger during rads which I was told would happen.  It has not changed since rads ended and was not noted as a concern on my mammogram.

Momof4: I have at least a 4 cm long scar in my breast as well. I have yet to have a mammogram, but I did have an us and it was all clear.

Since you had a lot of tissue removed, I'm sure the surgeon did a reorg on the remaining tissue which won't feel like normal. That happened to me. Wish you the best.

Thanks for this topic.  I"m sorry you are having to deal with this. I also think it is a shame that we have to wait so long to get information.  Just waiting another week for you to get the biopsy is hard, and then 4-5 days after that it crazy!  I'm sending good thoughts your way.

I also have a pepple sized lump under the skin that I noticed a couple weeks after my exchange surgery.  I am trying to decide if I should go back to the PS or to my BS with questions about this new lump....

AnnetteS - I guess I would go to see your BS first and push for a mammogram at the very least. You need and deserve peace of mind.  Wishing you the best!

DebRox - thanks!  I feel like I know you from reading your posts on the cold cap forum.  I hope we have this in common too and that it is only scar tissue.
