Yeah, I just read about it. Millions of people without power in California. Hope it doesn't last long... it is a major pain in the ass to be without electricity. Good luck.

hi Maybe I need to be on that bus SharonH

We are prone to sleet storms here in the winter that coat everything with a thick coat of ice and the power always goes out. I rant and rave about it, get in a terrible pissed off mood, get bored out of my mind and swear this is the year we get a generator, and then the sun comes out, the ice melts, power is restored, I put the candles and the flashlights away, throw away the rotting food in the fridge, take the hibachi out of the bedroom where I can cook a three course meal when pressed, and convince myself it was just a freak event that will never happen again, and fail to go out and get a generator.
I have a nifty little gadget that plugs into my car battery that will run just a couple of things like a TV and one lamp. Every once in a while you have to turn the car on for a few moments tho, so you don't ruin the battery. While I sit in the car it makes sense to turn the car seat heater on high to thaw out my frozen butt, then go back to the cold dark house and the pitiful snowy TV. Nice thing butts stay warm a good while.
As the Minute Maid lime juice cans in the fridge start to thaw I usually make up a couple of wicked pitchers of KnockYou Naked Margueritas and settle down in front of the TV with four snuggly cats, and try to watch one snowy channel because of course the cable is out. After a few Knock You Naked's, the tv seems pretty darn adequate, and I fail to notice the cats are passing gas in my lap.My butt seems to spread its warmth thru the chair. This works until it is time to go to bed, (and you try not to go to bed before 8PM)..If you are lucky you will wake up in the middle of the night with every light on and every plugged in household item chirpping away.
So yes, too bad you are not on that bus, Weesa

The electricity just came back on at 12:45a.m. in our neighborhood (but I still have tomorrow off work...yippee!). I thought the blackout was kinda cool. We cooked Bush's baked beans in a pot on the barbeque. I ate tons of ice cream before it could melt. We sat on the patio in the dark and listened to the crickets, which you can't usually hear because it's so darn noisy here. We were sitting on the edge of the parking lot, looking over the darkness of our usually bright and noisy neighborhood, thinking how it looked like a weird dreamscape or the set of a Stephen King movie when suddenly the lights came on. I kinda hated that.
All that was missing was Weesa's knock you naked margueritas.

Yikes! Must have missed that on the news this AM! Hope it's back on as we speak.
Like Celtic in the past (Hurricaine Isabell) we lost power for about 5 days. After everything in the freezer thawed out (wouldn't you know it I had just been to the store) we had a big "meat" cook out---steak, pork chops, chicken, hot dogs, hamburgers, you name it I cooked it on the grill. Seems funny now, but it got OLD real fast after about day 3. Most of all I missed my coffee maker! Instant wasn't cutting it and I hadn't ground any fresh coffee for my coffee press................
Lights on???

Hi all,
we were in the dark too!!!! San Clemente, ca it was so wierd! ! the up side is the kids got out of school today, they our thrilled, and you know celtic, I agree it was kinda of fun, we cooked everything on the bbq, sat around a bunch of candles, and we talked!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Then we all just went to bed at like 8:30 My DH and both the kids a few candles all holding hands.
It was sweet. I just pray it's not something we need to be concerned about, like some crazy person causing problems, what do you girls think? do they know why it happen, I have not heard
