I propose a toast to all you lovely ladies - you have all been an inspiration to me. Oh! BTW - Let's get this party started.
-
-
It has been a tough week - glad I get a long weekend to try and play catch up on some other things around the house.
-
For our chocolate lovers.......
-
And here are the berries....
-
I can't stay away from chocolate....
-
ALIciA!!!!! WOW!...do you have a good stash of books? ever wanted to take up knitting, crocething, scrapbooking....? oy....laugh sister laugh...all you can do hmm?
Paula, Sherry, Jo- good to see you here too! Wow...you miss a week around here and you are in big trouble! Ottawa was good...spent four days with my best friend organizing, boxing up and cleaning her parent's home and joined her the day she told them. They won't remember....her mom asked if I was there to help with the haying....but it is a huge weight off of Carol;s shoulders to have been able to talk to her mom about it. We got a good start on it anyhow so it should be easier from here. Arrangements are all made for Miami and Tampa....think I will have to find shoes for my dress there! I am NOT putting my bags under the plane and potentially have them lose them on me...if it does not go on the plane with me, it is not coming.
Paula- good for you! your son's ex is lucky she has you in her life.
-
Sherry- great picture!!! WOW!!
Tink- love your profile picture:)
Jo- you sound weary. Everything ok?
-
Sandee - Just had a lot going on this week. We have several work projects in the park to get done before the residents start coming back - that and the heat will not go away. Been 100 + for many days and it just takes its toll on a body. Hoping to get some rest over this long wekend. Thanks for asking my friend. Hope you have a fantastic trip. Wish I could go with you.
-
sherry.. great pic and beautiful family!!!!
all those goodies look amazing! yummo
lets keep this party going!!!!!!!!!
-
Jo - I wish you fit in my carry on!!! I think Miami is going to be hot but hopefully not as hot as where you are ...I plan on walking! Hope you get some rest m'dear. Make this a weekend for YOU!
-
Sandee - Will do. I have a great book on my Nook that is calling me to finish.
-
Excellent jo!!! pedicure? facial? I know a hot bath is not a good idea since it i sso hot where you are but...maybe a cool one?
-
Sandee... have fun!!!!!!! have a few for me well of anything lol!!! hugs and safe travels
-
I do have access to a pool whenever I want - one of the perks of being the manager. I could always go float in the cool water.
-
I found an endocrinologist today that hopefully can find out what is causing my low testosterone level. I was able to get an appt on the 14th which I also have a PS appt in the same area in San Antonio on that day so I don't have to make another trip into the city.
-
Good morning my Tammi girls. I sure missed the party last night. I had the ex-gf stay the night again and she tuckered me out, lol. Here is some breakfast for you all! I got up early and slaved over a hot stove just for my Tammi girls, lol!
-
Thanks for breakfast Paula!! You have inspired me to go and eat some.
Jo..the pool sounds perfect..get one of those lounge chairs and read your book at the same time! PERFECT!
Tink- I promise if I have more than one of anything, the second one is yours!
-
Alicia, hugs to you, I know about the frequent crying. So more hugs, as many as you need!
Seems like it was a rather tame party last night.... lots of good food, though! Sorry I missed it!
I spent all day Friday at the Breast Center, lots of appointments & tests. Good news is that the recurrence is LOCAL! My MO and BS both say it is still "curable" but I do have to get more aggressive, so am scheduled for BMX on Oct. 3. I still have to see RO and PS, not sure about reconstruction plans if any, but am just gathering information. My mom wanted to know why the delay. Well, I have a trip in September to a conference in Washington, DC with my husband that I got cheated out of last year due to chemo, so this year I am going!!!! Boobs will have to wait!!

I can't remeber who has the neuropathy a page or two back. I didn't know tammi could do this also. I am already dealing with neuropathy from the taxotere, so am more than a little paranoid about this. I know I really need to do the tammi as my tumor is strongly ER+ (90%).
Today is supposed to only be 99F here, so I think the pool idea is great! And my DH is one of the best cabana boys, serves a mean margarita!! And, no, I am NOT sharing him!!!
I don't know if I told you all, but my mother is an 18-year survivor and is an excellent role model. She has spent the last 17 years learning to play bluegrass fiddle, has won prizes at competition, plays in several groups, and has basically been the type of wild woman I think you all seem to be and/or aspire to be! I am so grateful for her support, and for yours.
Hugs to all of you! - Linda
-
Paula - Thanks for breakfast It was so good. Now I need to get off my butt and get some house cleaning done.
Linda - Wow! So much going on - sorry you even have to deal with a recurrance - at least you are already loaded with good information and you do have some time to really think about what you wannt to do next. Enjoy the trip with DH - you most certainly deserve it. You mother really is an inspiration not only for you but to each woman who has had to deal with this disease. Hugs to both of you.

Hi there. I am new to this thread. I have just finished 25 rounds of radiation after having a bilateral mastectomy at the end of May. I am suppose to start my Tamoxifen but have been putting it off for the last week. I am a little nervous about it. What is the best time of day to take it? Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Jess
-
Jessica- when I took it, people here suggested I split the dose...10mgs at breakfast and 10mgs at supper. Helped alleviate the hot flashes that accompany tammi for some of us.
Linda- the trip sounds great...as long as waiting does not put you in danger go and enjoy yourself and cut loose for awhile. BMX....you and your mom are both survivors and inspirational...stay strong and go gently hmm? We are here if you need us

Jessica I too was freaked out. I had it in my mind that I was going to take it no matter what. I even went that weekend and had it filled. I was so so nervous. I had my ultrasound to get a good picture and was givin the all clear. Yet I was scared to death. I got myself so worked up and then finally I jumped in and took it. Everything about BC has scared me but getting it again somewhere else in my body scared me worse. I did split the pill in half just as Sandee said, but after a few weeks I got tired of it and took the whole thing. I took mine in the morning. Some of the gals take it in the evening. Good Luck and feel free to post any time with questions. The gals are great around here!
-
Jessica - I started with a split dose - listened to some of the gals here. I had tried 2 of the AIs and had terrible SEs - the biggest one being nausea so was reluctant to start yet another pill. The split dose worked until it got to be a chore to split it. I jumped in with both feet and decided to take the whole 20mg at breakfast with a glass of milk and it worked well for me. I have been on Tammi since Jan 5th and all is well. I don't have to have milk anymore - guess my body has adjusted to it. Think of this little white pill as an added insurance policy against recurrance. Best of luck to you.
-
Jess.. welcome to the thread. Great group here. I also split the dose and thats eems tohelp a bit. I too was a fraid of that little white pill but Jo is right try to think of it as a little insurance policy against a reoccurance... one day at a time. We are here for you! hugs
-
Jessica I take mine at night. Have never spit the dose. Glad you are finished with rads. It is such a chore.
Went to the movies tonight and saw "Seven Days in Utopia" stars Robert Duvall and it is very good. Has not been well publicized but worth seeing.
-
Thanks for all the responses and support. Gonna do it and start today and start to move on. I will let you know how it goes.
Have a great day.
Jess -
Several Texas ladies are planning on meeting in San Antonio on Saturday, October 1st. ChrissyB will be there as well. Anyone who is interested, please PM either myself or Sherry by the 15th. Gina will be looking for a place for us to meet but she needs to know how many. If anyone needs hotel reservations - PM sagina - she lives in SA and has so graciously volunteered to be our tour guide.
-
Had a great day but now I am tired and my legs hurt. We took the kids to the zoo and then out to eat at olive garden.Oh how I love it when everyone gets along.
-
Sounds like fun momoftwo. I do miss those days. Mine are to old and cool for that, lol. There was always a joke in my house that if the kids where getting along and something in the world went wrong its because sissy and markie where getting along. They had some battles thats for sure, but they also love hard too!
