Hi. My Mother in-law was diagnosed and taken into surgery very quickly - she's having a masectomy next week after the lumpectomy two weeks ago revealed that there was far more cancer than the doctor thought. I know this seems like a banal concern but she has had less than three weeks to deal with all this and one thing that has her really upset is the lack of matching or 'sexy lingerie for woman who only have one breast removed. She's a larger chested woman - a C-D cup and while I know there are lots of other things for her to worry about, she's confided to me that it's VERY frustrating to have to wear "granny bras" thru this process. I thought I could go online and find some solutions but I've gotten nowhere for the last two hours!!! Do they not make lovely lingerie for all you very brave woman who deserve something fun and flirty after what you have to go thru?????

Any links or suggestions would be gratfully accepted -  i'm fairly handy with a sewing machine. Is it easy to modify regular VS stuff to hold a prothsetic?

Thankyou in advance for any advice!

This article should be helpful to you and your mother.

     http://whatididtosurvive.com/category/how-to-make-a-mastectomy-bra/

There is a thread on here in the forum called Breast Prostheses and Reconstruction Alternative, called "How to make a Mastectomy Bra out of a Regular Bra".  Here is the link for that:

(You might have to copy and paste this 2nd link into your browser).

That whole forum should be very helpful.

    Hi Celia

I know you posted this question almost a year ago but I am so excited about your question because I have such an awesome answer!

There's this website (it's Australian) and they sell mastectomy wear. They have a lot more swimwear but do stock lingerie. From what I've seen, the lingerie they have is a lot sexier than the majority out there. I hope this helps, and best wishes to your mother in law
