good morning ladies. I am feeling better, thanks to the antibiotics, but still not able to go home. I am scheduled for a procedure this AM to scan for paockets of infection and place a surgical drain. My R boob stump is about an A+ cup (and it had been flat!). I am tired of this!

Hope everyone has a great day and CONGRATS to those that are on the home stretch and finishing up. Maybe 1 day it will be me too! LOL!

sarah..I am happy to hear you feel better, but sorry you are still in the hospital.  I can imagine how weary you are of all this.  Hopefully antibiotics will do the trick and you will be home SOON.  Take care...or make them take good care of you!!!

Get well soon, Sarah.  Good luck with the procedure today.

Kymn:  Yes, I can relate to the eyebrow upset.  I lost most of my eyebrows, too, but they returned quickly.

Sarahbob, I am sorry that you are still hospitalized, but glad you are feeling better. I am going to get treatment #6 today, and then I will have 14 left. Is anyone having radiation the way I am? I am only having 15 regular sessions and 5 boosts, but my radiation is more intense. He said that in having it for less days, and more intense radiation, the side effects will be less. We will see. So far no problems except my skin looks a little darker.

Kym - I hear you girl!  I had no eyebrows nor eyelashes for 7 months!!!! I am 8 weeks PFC tomorrow and my eyebrows are back full - even plucking them again.  They and eyelashes started coming back at 6 wks PFC.  Eyelashes are very dark and full, just not as long as they used to be yet.  A little more time.  Hang in there!

Off to #24 today ... the end is near ... :)

Dueling Doctors!  Saw the BS today, and he's not happy with the RX that my RO perscribed. Sigh. He's changed it and I asked him to call her to discuss between themselves.  I have enough trouble with my own kids fighting, I don't need to referee them!

By the way, for those of you who were asking about that hard band of tissue over the lumpectomy, Dr. said it generally softens in three months or so, but that the breast tissue/wound area would continue to remodel for the next year.

    Hi Kate,

I am having the same kind you are having, I believe they call it the Canadian protocol. I will receive 16 regular and 2 boosts. I just Had #14 this morning, so I am in the home stretch. I'm fatigued, but still managing to go to work, and this past week my skin really got pink and felt sore like a sunburn. I got an unexpected day off Monday due to the hurricane, so I had 3 days to recover, and this Monday is labor day so another 3 day break from rads.

We have no power since Sunday morning, which also means no water since we are on a well, so life has been interesting. I shower at the Y, go to rads, go to work, go home and read by my headlamp, and go to bed early cause there is nothing else to do in the dark!

my Dr just made rounds. Looks like I will be here until at least Friday, as I have not gone 24 hrs fever free yet. Things are looking better and I was even able to have my rads today. I had a surgical drain placed this morning and it is draining well. Thank God there was just 1 big pocket of fluid and no hidden ones. The dr said the drain will stay in for several weeks (dislike!). I am glad I called Monday morning and didn't blow it off.

Sarah it was great to hear from you, thanks for the update.  I have been thinking about you all day.  Sorry for the extended stay, but at least now you know there are no other areas of infection.  That is great.  I'll keep all fingers and paws crossed here for an early release.  Maybe even Friday!

Sab....wow, sounds like a little mixup there with all the docs.  Dueling docs, LOL.  Hopefully then can all agree on the proper course of treatment.

I had treatment #7 today.  My breast is definitlely getting pink.  No other real problems.  I stll have a fair amount of energy.  Now if I could just sleep better.......Frown

Merilee....will a RO prescribe it?  I am seeing him tomorrow for my weekly exam.  Right after rads.  I just don't know if he can or will.  It sure won't hurt to ask.  I wrote it down, THANKS!

Kymm hello....hope it is getting better and you see some hair sprouting too!  I know that has to be so difficult.  This is really not much fun.  Hang in there Sweetie!

    Hi Pat,

I am so sorry about your power. I hope it comes back soon. Thanks for letting me know about your treatments. On which treatment did you first feel fatigued, and on which treatment did you start getting pink? Today was my 6th treatment. I am not feeling fatigued yet, but my skin started to look darker on my 5th treatment.

Sarahbob, I am glad you are feeling better. Janis I am right where you are, except one less treatment. I had #6 today and the part of my breast by my scar looks darker. I have no other problems. I have energy, and exactly like you I wish I could sleep better. I wake up in the middle of the night, and then it is difficult for me to go back to sleep.

    Hi Janis,

Most doctors will not prescribe lorizapam, because it is very addicting. Lorizapam is the generic name for ativan.

my MO PA gave me a script for Lorazepam. I would take it on the days I took the steroids. I don't think I took it enough to become a habit.

I have been away for a few days and have been catching up.  By away, I mean in the hospital.  I had terrible chest pains, tightening early on Saturday morning, and went to the ER.  Had the stress test and angiogram, but they were negative.  So I still don't know what happened, but the pain was excruciating.  Got out yesterday, and went back to rads today, so I missed a couple of treatments.  So now I will be through on September 19 instead of September 15.  Maybe things just got piled up in my mind and my body reacted?  Hope everyone is doing well!  I have thought about you all, while at the "spa" as my RO called it today!

Hi everyone. I had # 17 today and my first blister has come up between my breast right below the cross they make on you. Maybe thats all I will get??? One can hope. Underneath the breast is getting sore as well. On the bright side I have just 13 more treatments. wOOT!!!

Sarah I hope your feeling better soon... Try and rest. Stay strong

JustmeJanice I had no problem getting Ativan it is addictive but I would be a mess with out it.  Anybody going through what we have to go through should have no problem getting something to help you relax..

Jane sorry you are having a hard time with everything. I hope you feel better soon. We can do this.  Hugs and prayers to everyone, lisa

Sweetcorn....I am so sorry about your hospitalization.  That had to be very scary.  I am happy to hear that it wasn't your heart.  Stress can do really bad things to the poor body.  I am hoping that was all it was and you get to feeling better very soon.

I see my RO tomorrow but don't know if I will ask about the medication.  I'll see how I sleep tonight.

IRW I hope you just have the one blister and it doesn't get worse.  You are over halfway through, that is great!

I hope everyone has a great evening and a better tomorrow!

Had my simulation today. It was one day late because we were stuck in Hunter Mountain, NY due to roads washed out from hurricane Irene. Our Monday flight was cancelled, but we got out on Tuesday, simulation on Wednesday. I was surprised at how little info I was given. If I had not been following all you ladies on this thread, I would know practically nothing. Thanks everyone!

Merilee, big congratulations!  The worst is over for you hopefully.  Great news.

Ceeztheday...I have had 7, and so far so good.   Hoping you have a real easy time through this.  Ask away here, and ask your docs if you are unsure of anything.  Of course we are always happy to help.

Good luck today Lynniea.  The first one is the hardest just getting used to everything.  After that it just becomes a routine.  The treatment is not painful at all.
