Are we able to take aspirin while we are having rads? I had a headache  this morning and altogether I took 4 aspirin today. If its not okay what happens to you if you take them?

Oh that is right Kate.  We both have our first full five day week of rads.  Yes, then a three day weekend.

Glad your internet is up and running again.  I have come to rely on my computer a lot lately!

Fingers and paws crossed here for good skin!  Laughing

Seeing surgeon Wed. will report his input.

Thank you for the thoughtful words about my setback BB!  Yoko Ono said that healing ourselves begins with healing others (totally paraphrasing) and so you and the other kind ladies here will certainly earn good health through your kindness to others :-)

I had a pretty good weekend, until about 10 last night. I started feeling achy under my arms and feeling real tight across my chest (like muscle spams). Around 3 AM, I started having chills and so I took my temp....102!!! What's up with that?!?! My underarms hurt soooo bad and I cannot reach over my head. My right side hurts more too......the rads is on the left. I really feel like I did after I would get the Neulasta shot....achy in the lymph node areas. My chest actually hurts to touch it.

I will be making a call to the RO as soon as they open at 8:30.

Hope those in New England fared well and did not have much flooding/damage.

sarahbob......Wow, that sounds like no fun.  You may have some sort of infection going on.  I am so glad you will be calling your RO soon.  Hang in there hon and please let us know how things go.

SAB i just assume the scar tissue will shrink over time.  It just feels so lumpy!

Merilee...thrilled this is your last week!  Party Friday.  Today I go for #5.  I think my last rad is Oct. 7.  I am so thrilled Marcia will be here in just a few days.  I have only lived out here 14 months and have missed friends and family so much.  This will be healing!

Hang in there everyone.....we'll make it!

SB sorry to hear about the temp and pain. Did  you take anything to get that fever down yet?

I have been doing yoga all slathered up with, You name it, to make sure my skin stretches the way it should. I can see how it could become very tight if I don't keep at it. Got a couple of leathery spots too. Some one said Hawaiian punch red...that's me too. I can't remember how many zaps you have had so far. Are you close to done?

Janis My daughter visited me during chemo and it was the  most healing thing possible.

Have fun with your friend and forget about  cancer for a while.

merilee: I am just getting started!! I have only had 4 tx so far. And yes, I took some tylenol this morning. I just broke out in a head to toe sweat, so maybe the fever is down. I am calling the RO office now......just looking up the number. It is odd, b/c the worst pain/tightness is on the OPPOSITE side of the rads. HMMM. Leave it to me to be odd. LOL! I felt fine all weekend, so I don't know what is going on.

I just talked to the nurse and she is talking with the RO. She said she will call me back in a few. Said he probably have me not come in today. I would think he would want to do a CBC and check WBC level.

Nurse called back and the RO wants to see me when I come in this afternoon for my tx. He wants to do a CBC and see if I am starting an infection.

Merilee, that is Murphy and his favorite stuffie, Buzzy!  We name all his stuffed toys and he knows each one.  He loves really large stuffies.  His other favorite is an overstuffed Panda named Big Baby.  Then there is Care Bear, Tigger.....LOL.  No, he and Sampson are not spoiled!

    Hi Merilee,

I bet your hair is beautiful. My hair is wavy so I love when my hairdresser straightens it. Congrats on being done with rads on Friday!

it occurred to me a little bit ago (as I was putting my boobs on) that I have had an ongoing issue with a persistent seroma on the right side. I have not had it aspirated in 2+ weeks and that is the side that is SUPER painful and tight. I am wondering if I have an infected seroma. I can barely stand to wear my boobs today and that side is very painful, tight/full. I may be making a visit to the surgeon today too. UGH!

sarah.....oh hon sounds just miserable!  You may get tied up with several appointments.  I hope you will be able to update us later on.  Hugs!

Kymm......I just finished day five today.  You are halfway through after today.  Sorry you have the soreness under your breast.  Sounds unpleasant and I hope they can give you something for that.  The fatigue I know is to be expected, but sure an inconvenience.  Hang in there just awhile longer.  You will get through it, but that "middle" think just sucks.  I know what you mean about the bra.  Mine feel really uncomfortable lately and when I get home, off it goes.  I really hope you start feeling better very soon.  You have been through enough.  Congrats on the hair sprouting!

I don't know about everyone else but I am also feeling maybe nerve pain as well????  Feels like a flying projectile is going to come out of my nipple. LOL Other then that just tired a lot.. Halfway through and hanging tough if it kills me..   :)

Sarah - so sorry about your pain and temp.  I have to have a CBC every Monday.  I hope you find relief very soon.  Please let us know how you make out at  your appt.

Merilee - I can't imagine being so close to complete.  So very very happy for you.

MamaV - no skin change?  That's amazing.  I'm trying very hard to follow the same path, but my rad tech keeps telling me its unavoidable, "everyone" gets some reaction under the arm and under their breast.  I was a bit put off by her UNDERencouragement, but I'll keep the faith and remain hopeful.

Irw333 - LOVE the "flying projectile" description!  I know exactly what you mean!  LOL

Kymn & Irw333 - we're on about the same schedule...  I had #13 today on my way to 33.  Taking my bra off in the evening is the BEST time of the day!

Janis - have a wonderful visit with your friend!!!

Early on I had asked if I can take Advil during rads and was told it was okay.

Warm hugs to all of you.

    Ann

Survived Irene, but haven't had power since 8am on Sunday and have been told it should be back on by Thursday! I'm staying at my sisters with my three little ones for now I hope the other East coast ladies made it through the storm ok.

My first radiation was supposed to be today and was cancelled due to machine air compressor not working after power went out at center. Hoping it will be fixed by tomorrow. I thought I was done with this waiting game. Just more of my bad luck...sigh!

    (((Hugs))))

Leighsa, I found that waiting is really the hardest part of cancer.  Tom Petty got that right!

Irw...sorry about the se's.  I am only on rad # 5 so anxious to see what further treatments bring.

Mama V I know how you feel.  I often wonder why I got what seems like a fairly "good" cancer, had no chemo.  So far few SE's.   I hate seeing others suffer so much.

    Hi,

I just came home from radiation treatment #4, and so far so good. I have not experienced a side effect yet. Today my doctor told me something that I did not know. I am only having 15 regular radiation treatments and 5 days of boosts. What I didn't know is the average patient gets 1.8 of radiation, and I am getting 2.6. So my treatments are more intense, because I am getting less of them. I asked my doctor how these more intense treatment, in less days, will have an affect on side effects, and he said that it is easier on the skin, and that I should do better.
