Ummm ...  Anne's 'fashion statement' seems to be the way to fame and fortune.  Cool

Sunflowers ... just glue some glitter on your scooter and you'll be good to go.

Blue .. that picture is hilarious!  My curtains are sheer, not sure I want to make a gown out of them for the next NOTL ... it might be too much information!  ha!

I think I will put some glitter on my scooter too.  And I need a little basket in the front to carry all my stuff.

    hugs,

I'm glad HL is staying in the hospital longer.  20 hours is a LONG time under sedation.

E, so good to hear about your clear scans.Smile

Anne, are you going to post your pic when the calendar comes out?  I hope so!

AnnNY, I am worried about you.  Are you getting out of the way of Irene?  It sounds like NY city is going to take a beating.

Blue, I definitely remember that episode when it aired.  Too funny.  I was fortunate enough to see Harvey and Tim the year before Harvey died.  Funny even then!

    Rosemary, Baxter is georgeous!

RP, I was dressed as glitzy as I ever get at the get together!  I don't wear lipstick but I use a lot of lip moisturizers.  Does that count?

    Blue,

That was the FUNNIEST episode of all of Carol's shows - still remember cracking up!

Sorry, but being told what to do has always been my "final" - back to the Ignore button!!

Stay well, everyone.  NYC - mandatory evacuation of lower areas - whoa!  Who's gonna enforce that?

More rules ... I hates rules Laughing   I thought we were the 'do your own thing' generation ... what happened to us??  Yuppies, yuppies around every corner ... run for your life! Surprised

Now to important stuff ... has anybody heard from AnnNYC??  Do you suppose she is having to evacuate?

I don't know whether to hope that Layne is able to leave the hospital or to hope they can make her more comfortable there and make her stay a little longer.  The storm is going to complicate things too ... when is it supposed to hit there?

I think Ann is away on a little vacation in the country with a close "friend".  As for evacuation -- Mayor Bloomberg says it's mandatory for those in low-lying areas near the shore to leave, cuz if they don't, there will be no responders (fire, police etc.) to help them.

WR - there's an interesting website to track the storm -- just google Hurricane Irene tracker (or something like that).  It shows the course of the hurricane and the times it is supposed to hit land in NC, NJ and NY.

Hi Guys .. I think AnnNYC is about an hour north of Manhattan visiting a friend this weekend.  She is away from Manhattan so I don't think she has to worry about evacuating.

Yes - it's a category three and it self-destructs. Just watch the storm surge!

Don't expect to find my house when I go back down to Cape May...............The storm is going right across the Delaware Bay, and into Cape May....................Worst thing is everything in the house is valuable.........it all belonged to my Mother............after she died, I bought the shore house, and furnished it with all her beautiful things that were left in her home........I am an only child, so it was much......................I can't believe that 10 days ago might be the last time I saw my shore home, and my pool as it always has been..........God knows what we will find when we go back after the storm.............My home here in Pa. is not safe either........we are going to get hammered too...................going to stay with my daughter, right up the highway ...........just so I'm not alone .........................God help us all.

It must be terrifying.  The severe thunder storms here the other day were scary enough.  We watched them from our front porch with both awe and fear!

Aw, ducky... we're all hoping your house(s) withstand the wind and surge.  Apparently, Irene isn't so much a wind threat as a surge threat.

Old houses sometimes do better than newer ones when hurricanes hit.  The older ones were built better, apparently.  (Our contractor thought we were loony when we insisted on strong anchor bolts and hurricane straps on our new house, which is hundreds of miles from the Gulf Coast.  He said he'd been building houses for 20 years and had not yet had one blow away.  He went bankrupt a year later, due to over-extending his finances rather than lack of hurricane straps.)

I hope HL is catching up on her rest.  Twenty hours of anesthesia does not count as "rest".  It might be weeks before her body recovers from that long anesthesia.

Everybody please stay safe.  I saw the track of that thing, raking up the East Coast.  Looks scary.  I hope it looks scarier than it is.  Maybe the fact that we haven't had a serious land-falling hurricane here in the U.S. for such a long time is making people especially cautious.  I think we're safe here in south-central Montana (except from snow of course!).

Ah yes our own little personal hurricane - gotta love it.

Ducky - I am keeping everything crossed for you and I'm glad you're going to your daughter's.

Hope they're keeping HL in hospital over the weekend her body needs to mend (I still can't believe they did 20 hours of surgery - yikes!)

Ducky, I hope to God that you end up being wrong about your house in beautiful Cape May - gorgeous place. And that you are safe in PA. Thinking about you - so sorry for the distress you must be feeling!

The hurricane has to fall SOMEwhere, but I will believe any *specific* target when I see it. Hurricanes have a way of never keeping their promises (ie, mathematical models) for better and for worse. I am making the assumption that I will be fine and not worried. Right now, I feel for the people who have been ordered to evacuate, and for the animals in animal shelters.
