Good for you Gilly!  I love Zumba!

Stanzie: Zumba is a group exercise class that is a form of dance moves.  Mostly done to hispanic type music.  Usually easy to follow.  Good for all ages, sizes and fitness levels.  I purchased a heart monitor a few months back and have been tracking the calories that i have been burning during various workouts.  For example i am burning about 700 calories during a 45 minute zumba class.  about 500 during a 45 kettlebell class(weight lifting).

Mentally I always feel better if I have done something/anything active.  Even if it is just a walk around the block.

I would have joined you ladies sooner but I am new here.  Getting my BMX tomorrow and looking forward to my zumba days again soon.  I was doing hcg diet when I found the lump and stopped immediately with that.  The 15 pounds gone might just be what saved my life as i did not feel it a month earlier when i did my own exam.  Gonna lose probably 10 lbs tomorrow when they take the girls.  Cutting out sugar since I started hcg 5 weeks ago.  Now I am going to try cutting the fat too, but not until I am done with the pizza my son is bringing over for dinner teehee.

@tnbcruth--I am your neighbor to the east in Melbourne and I agree--keep Irene away.  Considering going to MD Andersonin Orlando for treatment for this trip neg metaplastic beast.

Bad week for me too - DH was home the whole week, and he is such a bad influence on me, lol.  Up a pound.

Meeting my BF at the gym tomorrow, hoping to get on the treadmill or swim, then doing a yoga class - my first time!

129! But I'll go back up. Lost 5 pounds sweating, camping and doing lots of horse stuff the past week.

My scale said 125.4 today... but I don't believe it. I think it needs a new battery.

    Checking in...

Still holding at 124.  I did well this week with my exercise, worked out 3 times for an hour each.  I'm enjoying going to the gym, I feel like I'm accomplishing something!  I'm not really going to weigh myself too much, I think I'll go by how my small jeans fit Smile.

Heidi - I used your smoothie suggestion, it was great!  I did fresh strawberries, mango and blueberries, added some non-fat frozen vanilla yogurt - YUM!!!  Thanks again!

LIke Heidi, I had an unusually low scale reading yesterday, so hopped right up to see what it said today, and apparently got distracted before I reached the scales 10' away...cleaned up the kitchen, made some coffee, picked up a dead spider...then wandered back to the computer and was like Oh Yeah - my weight!  Made it there and back in the same time zone, and I'm back up the one phantom pound...happy to be holding at 143 despite what has been going in my mouth.  How about you Heidi?  Suze- awesome that you could work out an hour!!!  You are something!

Suze:  I am so inspired by your actually going to gym and working out.  Part of me is afraid to go because my left side is so weird after my MX and recon.  Certain excercises are no longer comfortable and many things I can no longer do on the left side.  Are you having to modify any of your excercises?

tnbcRuth-- I like Suze's idea... judge by the way my clothes fit. I'm holding at a size 6...scale is weirdly unpredictable, plus... I'm busy doing hurricane preps!

MBJ - I've been limiting my exercise at the gym to cardio to be honest.  I have 3-pound free weights at home so I use those.  I have been doing the treadmill (mostly walking, some uphill, a little running), the recumbant bike, swimming, and the elliptical (something I also have at home).  I haven't had to really change anything for those.  I also have started a beginner's yoga class, and that is wonderful - it stretches and challenges me.  My one "secret" is that I go at a time when the gym and pool are practically empty - I don't know why, but I'm still self-conscious even though I wear my prosthetics.  The recumbant bike would be good for you - I don't use my arms for that at all.

Prepping here too for the storm - but we are only supposed to get lots of rain.  Will probably lose power, but hopefully for not too long!

I also like that idea about judging by the way our clothes fit.  I have my favorite pair of skinny jeans that I haven't tried on in quite a while.

Suze:  Yoga sounds great.  I am thinking about trying it.  I feel sort of off balance (lopsided)  so we'll see how it goes.

I hope the storm is not too bad for you all.

I just weighed myself on two scales in our house. One had me at 129, the other 141 (I have never weighed that much in my life) so, SCALES LIE! I'm putting my trus in clothes...

Heidi:  I agree-if my clothes fit I am great and if they don't time to cut back.

Suze:  Yeah, I am pretty self conscious now even though I am close to done with recon-I think I would only go at down times, too.  Thank you for your input-I can no longer do Yoga since my surgeries and a car accident-I have too many injuries to my neck.  I broke my toe the other day so it's back to matt excercises for me.

    164.  Exercised like crazy but ate like a P-I-G.  Trying to get back on track this week. I wanted to be 159 by sept 1st.  But feel grateful that I can get to the gym at all.

MBJ - ugh that sucks that you are dealing with your neck and foot.  I can see how it would be hard to find something comfortable to do.  I know with the recumbant bike I only use the arch of my feet, so that is one thing to try maybe?  I hope you feel better soon!

Taking a long walk today - my head is still messed up, so I'm not comfortable using the treadmill, but I have a great 2 mile route by my house that is hilly, but not too bad.  So I'll give that a try.

My 8's are too big, my 6's are too small.  I hate this in-between!

Navy - great job on the exercise!  I don't know which is the most important for us, but my doctor said worry about exercise first, then get the diet in line.  Keep it up!

If I had anything in my closet that was 'too big', I would be really really pleased.

I know my scales are lying, but 142.4 it is.  This weekend is going to be brutal as I'm spending it at the beach with girlfriends and we are going to eat, drink and be as merry as we can be.  Heidi, don't even record the 142....its a fleeting number for sure.

    Kudos to those exercising!!!!

    Hi Ladies,

It' s been a while since I was on the boards. I spent most of my time on the November 2011 chemo forum. I am triple negative and BRACCA 2 positive.  My last chemo treatment was 3/7/11. I was declared cancer free on June 7!!  I was a very fit and active person pre diagnosis. I went to Jazzercise at least three or four times a week!  I was about 116 pounds before I started chemo.  I ended up getting down to 108 dring chemo.  I have had a double mx,breast reconstruction, and a hysterctomy in the course of the last 9 months!  I am also going through menopause.  Since I ended chemo I have gained my weight back and a bit more.  I never had a problem with gaining weight in my life.  Some of my clothes are a bit snug. I just started going back to Jazzercise and I'm hoping to get back to my pre-diagnosis weight.  Am I dreaming??  I should just be happy to be cancer free and who cares if i'm a bit heavier than before, right?  Why do I care? I never thought of myself as so superficial?  Could it be that I am 45 years old and I should just accept who I am.I'm trying to eat healthier and exercise at least three or four times a week.  I think if I do that I should be fine right? I realize Im ranting and most of you probably think "hey, she's only 116 lbs" shw should consider herself lucky! I know but I feel like everything I put in my mouth is putting on weight.  It's harder to maintain.  Can anyone relate?

    Thanks for listening:)

lisarock , I have  lost 20lbs since March my last chemo was in Feb. I had the ooph and TE's  in June and I went away in July for 4 weeks and gained 10 of it back I cannot get the last 5 off.. and I am so freakin hungry all the time and I go to Curves 5 days a week....I don't think you are being superficial.... I am 41 and I have never worried about looking good all the time as I do now... I think with no hair no boobs and a bigger butt it is just how it goes. I used to pull my hair up and go now I have to gel it , blow dry it,re gel etc.... I always put on makeup I don't want anyone thinking I am a man.. I hope to not be so OCD about it in the future.  Don't beat yourself up I am sure you look great!!!! Laughing Just keep doing what you can.

Hi all, I don't want to intrude on your board here since I"m not TN but I like this idea and am trying to lose weight. Is there one of these any of you know of for us non TN people? I browsed but couldn't see one. I'm sure it's right in front of me if there is.

Is it really September already? You gals are doing great with all of your exercising! Me, not so great. My weight is stable, but I need to lose. After I have my treatment I crave carbs, sweets, ice cream. I need more veggies! I haven't been walking as regularly. I got a cold/virus thingy and haven't done much of anything except eat bad! I know it is so important, why am I struggling so much? Kinda like I am being defiant. I used to love to exercise, it was the eating that was my issue, now both are issues! Please keep posting all your good results, it will motivate me eventually!

    Hi Ladies,

Thanks Traci, I'll try not to beat myself up too much.

@Heidi, my current weight is about 117lbs.  I just want to mainrtain. Maybe lose a few so my clothes are not so snug.  I am tryng to eat healthier and I'm exercising almost daily. Either walking or going to Jazzercise. My energy is not even close to what it was pre dx.  I realize it takes time after all we have been through but it is just so frustrating.  Count me in your group if it's not too late.

    Thanks,

    Lisa
