Can someone tell me about how much the cab ride should cost from the airport? Last time was around $23 and apparently, the bellhop said that the cabbie must have taken us the long way around because it should have been way less than that.

Terri -- when you get in the cab tell him you want him to take local streets (NOT the highway) ... suggest Paradise Road which parallels the Strip (Las Vegas Blvd) and then the driver can shoot up Flamingo, take a right onto Las Vegas Blvd and then only have to travel a short distance in the bad traffic to the Mirage. Here's a link to a map where you can see what I mean.

The long way there is via a highway that circumnavigates the strip and costs more for sheer mileage. When you take local streets (specifically Paradise) it costs more like $15. The airport is so close to the strip, I don't know why they built that highway access... except to pad the cabbies' pockets.

PLEASE KEEP OUR CLARE IN YOUR THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS TOMORROW!!
Her surgery is tomorrow, Friday 8/19 at Legacy Good Samaritan in NW Portland. The whole whopping kaboodle starts at 1:00 p.m. when she checks in and gets labs, then at 3:00 she goes to the Breast Center for bilateral injections to look for sentinel nodes on both sides, then her surgery is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. (which in OR terms will probably be closer to 6:00 or so after preceding cases inevitably run longer than expected).

Terri I bought my package off of orbitz and the round trip to and from the airport in a shuttle was 15.00. I also ised this last year and honestly it wasnt bad. I think I was like the 2nd or 3rd stop.

Sorry sorry! sent laura a pm just now. I can't wait to get to Vegas. the thought keeps me sane as I get two little kids ready for school. I mean really - my parents never sent me off with a "comfort" package in case of catastrophe. Are they really going to read some letter I wrote under protest while they're huddled somewhere waiting for rescue eating stale granola bars and cashews. And why can't the school buy their own wet wipes and paper towels? that's my rant for the day Come on Vegas!

Since so many are coming in Wed and Thursday.... I will NOT be putting together an AIRPORT meet and greet. There are cabs there in PLENTY to get you to the hotel. Just tell them to take you to the Mirage.... and they will get you there.

We usually dress up for the Friday night meet and greet... a dress.... or nice pantsuit.... whatever you like to dress up in....

The rest of the time seems to be DRESS HOW YOU LIKE and are most comfortable.

Yes, the Piano bar... we wear our Tata tee's!

I think this question will come up again within a few weeks of our trip.....it always gets busy on this thread a few weeks before " take off" LOL
