Can't say reap now without thinking I'm pronouncing it wrong!! I read once that to describe a British accent would be like pronouncing the word bison to mean a basin. So for 35 years I hate saying bison. We come across it every once in a while.....in burgers!

Hi Barbe - I'm stuck on "spoon " too - toying with the idea of cutlery you use on the moon, but that's a bit rubbish.
Wondering about your last remark - do you mean that N. Americans pronounce it "biSON", with the last syllable stressed, whilst we pronounce it "bi-son", with equal stress on both? Sorry if this gets lost in translation mid-Atlantic somewhere! I'm probably being a bit thick!
Maybe someone can come up with a better wacky def. for "spoon"?!
