TN Ten Pounds Take-Off

!!!!!!!!! WARNING !!!!!!!!
I just discovered this important info below. Please share with all your friends.
I don't know WHY I didn't figure this out sooner!!!!!
It's the shampoo I use in the shower!
When I wash my hair, the shampoo runs down my whole body, and (duh!)
Printed very clearly on the shampoo label is this warning,
"FOR EXTRA VOLUME AND BODY."
No WONDER I have been gaining weight!!!
Well! I have gotten rid of that shampoo and I am going to start using Dawn dish soap instead.
Its label reads,
"DISSOLVES FAT THAT IS OTHERWISE DIFFICULT TO REMOVE."
Problem solved!
If I don't answer the phone . . . I'll be in the shower!
-
Heidi..............Who knew??? ...Wish you would have figured this out before I spent all those hours in the gym. I'm gonna go have a cookie and then take a shower.

It's a good thing I used to use "smoothing" shampoo!
Congrats Erica! That is great news!
-
WOW Erica Good for you I am so happy for you !!!!!
Unfortunaltly I was away for 4 weeks and I was in Stewartstown PA near the Amish country.... I ate so many Amish baked goods and candy I can't even tell you soooooo I am back up to 155 I will be back at curves tomorrow and I have already started to eat better..... It is so hard to get it off but sooo easy to put on. Good luck this week ladies.
-
Why is it that Ice Cream tastes so dang good alllll summer long???? I could try a cold beer, but the ice cream makes me soooooo happy. That and the new smoothing shampoo I will be using. Thanks Heidi! You remind me of a childhood friend I had named Heidi...dark braids, green eyes, lots of freckles...she moved away, but I just loved hanging out with her!
-
Hmmm... I had dark braids, blue eyes and *some* freckles. And yes, I'm an ice cream junkie too during the summer. Mint chocolate chip with sprinkles on a sugar cone = Heaven.
-
...Ben and Jerry's "Late Night Snack" ice cream...it's vanilla with salted caramel swirls with chocolate covered potato chip balls..
Someone on one of my other favorite threads was eating this last night. I am pretty sure I would like it, too. So I will be avoiding the frozen isle at the grocery store...no use torturing myself.
I even baked chocochip cookies for navyson (YAY! He and DIL and Navybaby are home for 2 weeks!!) and so far I have only had a total of 3 cookies
165 this morning.
I am pissed that my gym will be closed for 2 weeks this month. Just when I am on a roll...good excuse to finally do my "spring" window washing.
Have a good monday all.

Happy Monday! Weighed in this AM, still hovering at 125 - was 124.6, so I'll round up
. I am proud of myself though, I stayed on my diet for 5 days straight, and while I went off it a bit this weekend, I still made better choices. Well, except the wine lol. I also managed to exercise 3 times, which isn't great, but better.
Exercise has been the roughest - does anyone else notice joint pain and stuff still lingering from chemo? After 30 minutes walking, my knees and ankles just ache! I'm doing as low impact as I can, but am hoping this eases up as I get into a routine.
Chair day, so no exercise today.
Erica - I'm new to the thread, but congratulations! What an exciting time! -
Cute ladies I needed that laugh and maybe some that Dawn dish detergent. I gained a pound back.
-
Yep - the ice cream splurges caught up with me. Up 2+ lbs. Waaaaa
-
Me too. That and Wawa smoothies (Bananas Foster). Well, at least I'll die happy, if not skinny, right?
-
146.5 for me - not too bad considering the 2 weeks in England. But it also means I have not acheived anything since starting the ten pound take off. So (once more
) time to get serious.
-
I weighed myself yesterday and was down 3 pounds, but today, weigh in day, I was only down 2 pounds! So I am at 208. I have been walking almost every day and I feel pretty good, but when I start to do other type activities that involve bending, lifting or carrying things I get tired really fast.
My problem is blueberry scones and muffins! It is what I have been craving during chemo. I bet when I am done with chemo I will not be able to look at a scone or muffin.
Suze35-Good job walking during chemo, sore joints and all! The ac I finished did not leave me with sore joints, just extreme fatigue. I have almost 2 more weeks before I start abraxane, and I am getting used to feeling better! Not looking forward to going back to the chair! I asked my hubby if my hair is getting thicker and he laughed! I guess that means no!
-
I ate so bad today. urgh. I just needed to eat bad.
-
You cherished yourself today and I think that is a good thing! You can just eat less tomorrow
-
Low carb ice cream+salads= down a pound!!
-
Good going, Ruth!
-
Yea Ruth! Send some help for me. Back on program though.
-
136 this morning! I've been so busy with things that don't involve food that I'm just not eating...saw the onc this past week and he is very happy with my weight loss...maybe my body is getting back to the same metabolism that I used to have.
-
Oh...we used Dawn dish soap on our pigs for their baths to show them at the county fair..they looked great!
-
Been a while but I keep checking in to read... still no change with me. When I last was at my favorite weight it was as much a mental attitude as self control and exercise. I know I need that mental motivation back but I'm just so tired and have so much trouble sleeping it makes it all the harder to have will power. Tomorrow is my birthday and I so hoped I'd be closer to a good weight by now. I just hate being invited to go somewhere or even just want to look nice and can't fit into anything. I have so far refused to buy bigger clothes as I thought it would help with the motivation but so far no... And it is just soooo hot... Anyone have anything that has been really working for them - also having teenagers who always want food around isn't helping me either... sigh.
-
It is hard Stanzi...I think it is really mind over matter ..plus a little patience when it comes to losing weight..when this thread was started I really had no interest in losing weight..but then I decided it was time to do something about it...I think it started when a co-worker told me my "muffin tops" were showing....after chemo (and gaining 20 pounds plus in one year)..I was proud that I didn't look like a cancer patient because I was "fluffy"...I had to get over the fear that being slim and losing weight didn't mean that I had the cancer again...I equated being slim as maybe I was sick again...I have to get over that feeling...I'm working on it.
It really sucks...all the surgery and treatments..plus the weight gain from chemo...even though being overweight maybe not be a really big deal..feeling good in our clothes and about ourselves is a huge factor in getting back to being ourselves again.
Sorry for the long post...but dang..we sure have to work hard to be what we want to be...
-
Stanzie & Titan- You know what? I think I'm beginning to creep into that (possibly) age-related area where I no longer care. My scale has been creeping up lately (notice I say *scale*) and yet, I still fit my clothes (6-8) and, to my eyes, appear the same in the mirror. BUT, I used another scale today that shows body-fat & and *that* was definitely higher. So, I'm confused. I find myself constantly urging myself to get back to 122 (size 4) but, truth is, that was too skinny for me. And frankly, I'm getting tired of beating myself up over it. Those 4s sure looked good on me though; I could wear *anything*, and it hung flatteringly.
So, I may just say f*ck it, and settle for the 132-135 range my body seems to stay at naturally. I may not fit my size 4s but 6-8 ain't bad and I get to eat what I want.
-
Heidi..size 6-8 is great! I'm size 8-10...I just don't like having "THE GUT"...and the MUFFIN TOPS......plus having no "assatal"..doesn't help things either..
-
164 this morning. Very pissed that my gym will be closed for 2 weeks. Going to research some other places to go to classes to keep me going.
Plus FIL is having heart surgery on Thursday.....lots of stress and idle time sitting in waiting rooms staring at junk food in the vending machines.....
-
A car backed into me last week and I found out their insurance lapsed 3 days prior, so I ate 2 homemade cinnamon rolls for dessert and then another 1 for breakfast.
$500 deductible=5000 extra calories.

tnbcRuth......= Priceless...ha ha

Hello -
I am new to this forum and recently discovered this web site. I was triple neg in 6/2000, had a mastectomy and 4 rounds of A/C. My plastic surgeon's nurse said not to be surprised if I gained 20 pounds, which I did, apparently from the steroids I was given to make the side effects easier. I was in remission for almost 11 years. I recently got down to my 2000 weight and am now a little lower as a side effect of an ADHD med that I started taking this Spring. So anyway, I have a small local recurrence now. Is weight loss recommended for triple neg folks like us now?

Stayed the same:( Too many blueberry muffins this week. I must stop!!!
-
Lee- many of the gals in here are losing weight for a variety of reasons, not just to lower risk of recurrence. In fact, from what many have read, weight seems to be more of a factor in ER/PR BC (unless TN were overweight in adolescence).
Reading this kind of stuff reminds me of that scene in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (my Maid of Honor's dad directed that movie, btw as well as The Sting and other great movies) where they keep asking "Who *are* those guys?"
Doesn't it make you wonder about who does these studies?
