    AJ: the  fenayl (so) patches come with the warning not to get overheated; they WILL make you sick . so, if thats what ya got; thats; it. Mur had to stop wearing them to work last yr. Dr. was SHOCKED the pharm didn't tell him!!!

    It is so cold here today. Snow in the hills is being forcast even this far north. The South Island has taken a real polar blast. My brother lives in Nelson and evidently it was actually snowing last night but the snow did not last.

    Have been out for a coffee as it is so cold. The house is also cold because the plumbers have the front door open. I need somethiing to warm me up.

    Aly, you NZ'ers are getting clobbered with cold while we USA'ers are melting. Except for the sisters in WA and OR. It is colder than normal for them this summer. Crazy weather. It is the normal 92 degrees where I live. Same ole same ole.

    So does anyone else think this piece of lovely glass art by Dale Chihuly is 'interesting'?  The Chihuly museum in St. Pete is killer and this is outside. It is lit up from inside at night and looks remarkably like....

    The museumn is killer and so is the Dali museum. If you ever have the chance to come, do it. Well worth it.

    Barb, I love the glass!  Several years ago we went to a Chihuly show in Charlotte and bought a poster, which was all we could afford!  DH has loved his work (well, assistants' work now as he can no longer do it) for years and I'm hooked now too.  DH went to the Memphis Art Academy for his undergraduate work and did a lot of glass blowing himself there, and we have several of his pieces at home, but no Chihuly! Guess DH was the starving artist type.(And no Chihuly, either.)

    BarbA - it is er ah interesting  like how you ended the looks like sentence, leave a lot to the imagination.

    3jays - I called the onco today and he told me not to get overheated while wearing the patch (I never read the warnings)  He was also surprised that the pharmacist did not tell me that.  He also told me that since he now has me on lasix in addition to the HCTZ that I need to be sure and drink plenty of water and be sure to eat lots of fruits and veggies, if I insist on getting out in the yard and pulling weeds.  He said to take the patch off if I am going to be working out in the heat. My onco is more like a big brother than my doctor.  He tries to take good care of me and realizes that some things just don't change with me.  So supper was 2 grilled cheese sandwiches.Laughing  Today has been much better as well as a couple of degrees cooler, still over 100 but at least it is not 109 today.  How are you doing?  Hope thing start getting better for you soon. I really really want to see you on your way to Mecca in the Ozarks.

    Alyson - wish we could figure out a way to send you some of our heat in exchange for your cold weather.  Hope you can get a nice cup of hot tea to get you warmed up.  How is you DH doing since his fall at church. 

     Mary - I am with you on just loafing around and reading a book is enough to make me happy on vacation.  Hope you are having fun at the beach even with no electricity, hope you did not get too hot with it out this afternoon.

    In 2004, Chihuly had a 9-month stay at the Atlanta Botanical Garden and blew the city away. Broke all membership records and sales records in the gift shop.  Wish it was still here...My son's university, Georgia Tech, has secured a few permanent Chihulys in one of the modern glass buildings there, and they are working on acquiring a few more for an area called Technology Square.  What an asset for any community!  I will not miss it in St. Pete when I go visit my long-lost relatives there.  

    While doing my geneaology stuff, little did I realize that my great-grandmother made a 2nd home in St. Petersburg during the 1930's, and that is why I have some cousins there now! The things you learn from geneaology research, right Lisa? I also didn't know she died right here in Atlanta, of all places! She was buried in her hometown of Goldsboro, NC, though. I just thought she died there.

    Hope you ladies are managing to stay cool - the heat finally got to me today. I was nauseous and got a headache and finally took one of my chemo nausea pills I had left over. This feels like the endless summer! I remember thinking winter would never end, now here I go again - I can't wait until the cool weather comes back! Tongue out

    Hi Ladies,

    Just discovered this site and I am loving it.Smile It's nice to know that there are others who are willing to share the things that they are going through. I live in a small town and we don't even have a cancer support group. Sometimes it gets pretty lonely, however, I have a loving family that is very supportive. They love and support you but sometimes they don't understand the different feelings that one has when one is going through cancer.I am looking forward to visiting this site again soon. You ladies have a wonderful evening.

    Check out this picture. One room is devoted to chandeliers and there are 5-6 of them, if I remember correctly.

    Welcome eenie. This is a great group of ladies and have all quickly become friends.  Great place to hang out and share whatever.

    BarbA - The chandelier looks like an exotic flower.  Beautiful.

    Alyson, you're all so cold and we're all so hot.  We're getting a little relief tonight with the lowest low we've had in some time, 70F, but it's back to the oven by the weekend.

    I agree, I don't think people can understand ,unless you have been through it.these ladies have helped me  alot.Just sharing what each has went through.So you can kinda compare to what is happening to you.Ask any question,someone here will have an answer.Enjoy your day:)

    It is so great to have friends who understand what having breast cancer means. I have made some great friends on BCO and we are meeting in September in Missouri and I can't wait! Chrissy gets the prize for coming from the furthest away...Australia!

    Good morning, Ladies.   Well, I am moving on to a new treatment next week....Xeloda and Ixempra...had to ask the nurses about 5 times how to pronounce that last one.  So it is pretty much a sure thing, I am going to be bald for our get together, but come hell or highwater, I am there....by the way my cousin says the lake is down due to no rain in June and little in July.  Barb, one of these days I am coming to stay in that nice guest room and will see those glass sculptures. 

    II am going out to water since I don't go to work til 1:30 today and I will get some new pics of the backyard and flowers....the ones I planted from seed are doing great and I am excited.  I am working every day this  week!!....good thing I decided against the SSDI, however I may regret that depending on how this new chemo combo treats me, but only time will tell.

    Oh Marybe, I hope you do OK on Ixempra. Fingers crossed. Check out the Xeloda and Ixempra threads. Hopefully the tips will work for you. Can't wait to see your bald head!

    QCA - orange is my favorite color, too, and that chandelier is outstanding! I think that's what Georgia Tech is trying to acquire - 2 or 3 chandeliers. Still chuckling about that picture of the giant Chihuly outside the museum. EVERYBODY has to think that when they drive past at night!

    Reminds me of the giant peach water tower in SC alongside I-85. Everyone calls it the Big Butt!

    Marybe - hope you have minimal SEs and maximum benefits from this new chemo, and glad they've got a new plan going!

    What anniversary,  Barb?   I as usual am going back and forth....MDA onco says doing both is too much, but of course my onco doesn't see it that way.  And me, Ms Indecisive, I just don't know what to do and want to do what the onco in TX recommends, but never seem to have the gumption to stand up for myself when I go for my appts.

    Marybe, you need to be your own advocate, you and 3jays taught me that. Do ask Dr. Cody why he wants to do both. Find out if there is some new research evidence that shows doing both will be the best for you.

    Gals, we're heading to the beach in the morning, packed and ready to go.  Dog's being boarded at the vet's, neighbor to pick up mail and water the plants, and we're almost on the way!

    Great pics Lisa ... we didn't make it to Old Town when I was in SD for a conf in 2005, darn it!

    Chihuly is the artist who did the ceiling of the lobby at the Bellagio in Las Vegas.  I've been to Vegas twice and both times I spent a long time staring at those ceilings! Didn't stay there but we always went for a drink in the lobby piano bar where you can watch the ceiling and people watch at the same time.  Such talent!  Here's a shot of it, but it's so much more in person.
