April 2011 chemo

Hey Ladies,
I'm going to start singing classes again in september! Something I've been looking forward to.
I've been missing in action, but reading posts. I just did taxol #8 of 12. Getting there. Only 1 more month to go (4 more taxol). Seems like a lifetime sometimes, and other times, seems like it's going fast. I'll be starting radiation i'm guessing....around mid-late september, which is good timing for me. I'll get a few weeks off treatment just in time to get the kids ready for grade 2 (back to school shopping, getting them in activities...etc).
Two of my fingernails are starting to get sore...I was wondering Profbee~~ if the fingers that hurt the most were the ones you used the most?
-
Yippy! Ladies, everyone is getting along the path. Soon this will be a distant memory.
-
really happy, chemo postponed because of low blood counts, so i get 3 days off work because they owe me the hours. MIL coming over from england so can have good holiday break with her.
-
So nice to hear happy news!
Kg--yes, probably..my pointer and second fingers are the worst.
My baby bear is home sick with a fever. Man, I hate when he's sick, but it's pretty awesome that this week I don't have any Boston appts, so I can be with him. I'd hate to leave him all day with my mom when he's sick. He's 5, but boy does he seem like such a little one when he's sick.
I have some good news too--I'm going to be a matron of honor at my dear friend MArk's wedding! Now, I just have to make sure I can make it to NYC for Dec 10th. I may be in the middle of AC treatments, and I'm sure I'll still be bald...yikes. But it's a good excuse for a new LBD! (Little Black Dress)

yay!! yes i am glad we are trying to do somethings that are fun for a change! and artiecat i changed my mine and only got some answers but they were behind and i just wanted to get started!!! i go back and see him in 3 weeks so i'll ask then..like when do i need to go to the gyno and when do i start my 5 years on meds which he said we would talk about then at our next appt since i'll start on them then to let my blood count get back to normal. i have my appt for rads consult on aug 10th!! and i just wanted to know when i should begin to feel better...and what supplements i should take.. she already has me on calcuim but what else should i take??there were more but can't remember!!!

-
Just stopping in to see how everyone is...tell you all I love you and everyone...please keep your spirits up. Had an MRI done yesterday to see how much the chemo did its job before the surgery! Praying for really good news. I'll keep you all posted. So glad to see some of you feeling well enough to get to some things you enjoy doing. I hope to be there soon. Mine is getting back to dancing, I used to do everything from Argentine Tango to the Jitterbug and all in between. LOVE to dance. Brings me such joy. But....once my surgery is done it might be a while before I feel I can let some dude lift my right arm up to twirl me! Good incentive though to do my exercises so I can get back to it though.

It occurs to me we should exchange "real life" contact information so we can stay in touch after this is over. Like snail mail addresses so we can send each other cards, and email addresses in case one of us falls off the BCO board and we want to stay in touch. Also phone numbers for everyone willing.
For privacy reasons, I am NOT suggesting we provide that kind of personal information through a message board -- even in a "private message" -- so I'd rather we not post through BCO.
We need someone with good secretarial/organizational skills to collect everything and get it distributed. Does anyone who is a regular here have those skills and want to volunteer? I would do it myself, but I know those are not my strengths.
I suggest the following info be emailed to that person's non-gmail address:
BCO screen name
Real name
Email address
Postal Address
Signature information from BCO (just copy and paste Diagnosis, Date, etc.)And I would ask the person doing this not to share the list with anyone you don't recognize from here who has a minimum number of BCO posts going back to April. (What we don't need is for some marketing spammer to get our personal info.)
p.s. If we did this, it would be cool to have a 5 year "cancerversary" reunion here on BCO. Can't you just see a "April 2011 Chemo Reunion" thread here in 2016? Wheee!

Hi Ladies. Just popping in for a quick hello.
I've been at Look Good Feel Better this morning so am feeling like I should be doing some work, not playing online!
I had Taxol #3 yesterday. So far so good. No side effects to speak of, which I'm really grateful for.
I hope everyone is having a great week.
-
Windlass I love that Idea. The only job I have ever been fired from was a secretarial job so I am not your candidate for the list either LOL, but yes to the 5 year Idea!
Ranger mom, I am going to dance a little for you today, you can borrow my groove until you are up to it.
Kiwi mom- so for so good, that is awesome!
-
I would be willing to pull the list together, though I admit that it might be a not fast turn around time).
Windlass, you say non-gmail address, I'm guessing because you have privacy issues with gmail. Are you okay with yahoo? Those are my only two options since I do not want this info going to my work email.
Let me know.
-
Awesome, Carla - thanks for volunteering!
Let me see if I can get you a decent email account for this. I'll work on it and IM you details. -

Had my #2 Taxol on Monday, #6 all together for chemo. The leg pains are starting this morning but are mild right now. I'm going to hold off on the pain med until I'm sure that is what it is! Merilee congrats on getting Rad #1 done!
Windlass I think the guitar lessons are a great idea!
-
Hi Ladies,
Just throught I'd drop in and say that I have now finished my last chemo round 6 of taxotere/herceptin combo, now got herceptin every 3 weeks and will be starting on tomoxifen in a months time, so hopefully everything will be good with that lot, good luck to all of you still going through chemo your nearly there.
love and light to all
Sarah Sweetyxxxx
-
Congratulations, Sarah!!! Now you get your hair back
And how did you go so fast? You got your surgery and all your chemo done since just March! I started in January, and I still haven't even done Taxotere yet. Are you getting rads?
-
Hi Windlass,
Not that fast, yes finished chemo for now I am at stage IV so will probably have to have more chemo again sometime in the future maybe!!! Anyway having surgery around the middle of Sept mx with lymph node clearance, not sure if I am going to have rads as my cancer has already spread to my lungs (but that is looking real good after the CT Scan results everything has vasty reduced and the 6cm lump in my breast they cannot find YAY) was scheduled to have 3 FEC and 3 Taxotere but due to finding secondaries 2 weeks after primary had to change that regime and made all the rest of my chemos taxotere. Things are looking good and I am so looking forward to having my hair back, for me it was all about my hair, never really had boobs puberty forgot about my boobs, so dont think I will miss them now.
I am going to be on Herceptin indefinately but dont seem to have any SE on that, and 5 years on Tamoxifen not sure about that been reading it makes you put weight on something I am not used to so not looking forward to that one.
I am english and live in england so maybe they do things differently in america or canada I have noticed that you ladies in the states seem to have more chemo's initially than we do over here.
Thanks for getting back to me Windlass sending you lots of love and light and healing vibes.
Sarah Sweety xx

Paw print and artifact! Gogogo! My last dexa set starts , last TC is Friday! So looking forward to having it behind me, and yet more freaked than the previous, because each has progressively been rougher. So good to read you're done, so I'm primed for it, too. Then hair! So I can stop looking like an owlet...then deep breath, and rads, and etc., but this part will be done, thank goodness.
-
Carla: Let's just go with the Yahoo account. I'm sure it will be fine. And thanks again for offering.
-
Hey Ladies! Kudos to those who have kicked chemo to the curb. Nicely done to have that behind you. Way to show us how it's done.
******************************************************
So I volunteered to pull together an contact info list for our Lounge.
Here is what I'll need to get started. Please email to the following address (spelled out to avoid phishing):
To: carlaarmorganATyahooDOTcom
Subject: BCO contact info (always include BCO somewhere in your subject line for my filter)
Body of email:
BCO screen name
Real name (First Last)
Email address
Postal Address
Signature information from BCO (copy and paste)Once I get everything together, I'll let you all know and tell you when to expect my email. I'll mess with formats a bit to find something that works well.

Typical pre-chemo sleeplessness here. 4/12 Taxol at 9am. Low WBC again, so they upped me to 2 Neupogen shots this week (Tue and Wed to prep for Thu chemo). Just kind of down yesterday and today. I'm trying to shake it, but this week seems harder than usual. I did get to hold a brand new baby today. She was so little, born at 4lbs 8 oz on Saturday. She managed to melt my heart and break my heart in one fell swoop. Her big sister (4yrs old) asked me if I wished I had a new baby like her baby sister and man, out of the mouth of babes. When I left, I just sat in my car and cried and cried. Because yes, I wish I had a little baby like her sister, and my little baby will be 5 on Sunday, and I was just all woe is me. This was the year I was supposed to get pregnant, not get cancer.
-
Oh Carla, so sorry to hear about your sorrow. My babies are 21 an 23 and I still pine for the days when I held them and rocked them to sleep.
Articat and Paw! Backflips, wait i am too old and beat up for that, well I think I can manage a thumbs up with out hurting myself LOL
Annie- I am thinking+ that you will get done today.
Windlass, I will light a candle for you so that you do not loose sight of us, cause we ain't leaving you behind girl! Just keep looking for that light. We'll be here.
Sarah- nice that you get a break, I am sure you need it by now
Determined, Hang in there you will be done before you know it.
-
Oh Carla. I was pregnant last summer and miscarried. My gyno suggested that if I had that baby, I may not have felt my lump since I would have been DUE when I found my lump. That miscarriage may have saved my life. We hadn't planned that pregnancy, but it was still hard to realize that I'm done, that Jack's an only child, that this part of my life is over. I feel your pain. While we're doing what we need to do to be here for the kid we already have, I know it hurts.
-
Awe, hugs to you girls.
-
Carla and Profbee - Girls I feel so for you both, when I was dx earlier this year I had initially gone to the doctors to talk about me getting pregnant at age 43 also had an itch on my right breast then after examination referred me onto the breast care clinic and found grade 3 IDC in my right breast and lymph nodes also spread onto my lungs (although the chemo is working and everything is shrinking yay).
Profbee so sorry to hear about your miscarriage but in hindsight it does seem to appear that the miscarriage did save your life and you do have a little boy that needs and loves his mummy, god bless you.
So babies are not an option for me anymore and part of me is very very sad about that, I must admit that I did leave it longer than most mainly cause I was working on my career and being an artist is about the most creative thing to be apart from the most creative job on the planet that is being a mother and having children. Both of my grandmothers had children late in life one at age 42 and the other at 38 so I did'nt think anything of having children later in life. Until this happened to me and now I am left feeling kinda lost, I suppose I always figured a child into my life and now just cant seem to shake that lost feeling. Sorry about that sat here crying my eyes out did'nt realise how important it was or how strongly I felt obviously need to address this issue further.
Thanks for reading this post
Sending love and light to all in need.
Sarah Sweety

Here's a hug for you Sarah

Thanks Merilee sending one right back at ya!!!

hey everyone....read your post aout kids (well, i always read.....even though i don't post often), but ladies i feel your pain. my son is about 2.5 and i am 36. my son is very active (like having 2 kids) maybe that is how little kids are:) anyway, i love him soooooo very much and i was not sure about having another one. i would not mind having another one, but i did not like being pregnant. while i was not on bedrest, it was easy. anyway, still i feel that it was MY choice as to whether i wanted to be preggers again.
now, ppl who don't know about my bc asks "When are you having another one.....try not to wait so long.....have your next one soon ,so they are close in age..."
i feel like i no longer have that choice. by the time i am done with tamox in 2 yrs i will be 39. aside from that, i am TOO effin scared to do anything to give this damn disease any permission to THINK about returning.
it all is sad......options robbed from us. lives robbed. period of times robbed. this year is a bust!
i want my son to have a sibling.
thanks for listening.
-
also, those who wear wigs.......any suggestions to prevent the head sweating?
