E - did you wonder why your DD always had poison ivy? LOL
-
Hehehehehe....I was just joking. I took my daughter and a friend of hers on a trip to the Olympic Peninsula a few years back. While tromping through the woods, I recited my "leaves of three, touch and see" mantra but none of them would buy it. Kids are just too smart these days.

I am sitting in a hotel room in a podunk town reading about snakes
I did go spend dh's money on a new top and jeans at a boutique here and then laid by the pool but it was too hot. I didn't even last to get some sun. We might be here all day tomorrow also - not sure yet but it is nice to get away just he and I for a couple of days even though he is working and I am slumming watching Trash TV. Won't be long and Judge Judy will be on. -
Where are you, Jancie?
-
anyone remember hearing reading about Euell Gibbons eatting poison ivy every spring to build his immunity? shudder!!!!!!
Here in the PNW our plaguish plant seems to be nettles. The thing is, you really can eat them and, if done right (blanching sauteing and liberal application of fine balsamic vinegar), they are tasty. Lots and lots of vitamins. In camp my monsters learned how to pick them and eat them while standing in a field. Always made me twitch---my forging foods of choice are thimbleberries (ripe and tasty now but not after today thanks to the rain as they are quite vulnerable to mold), salmon berries, blackberries, and currents. . .mmmmmmmmmmmmmm
-
Was he the one on TV promoting Grape Nuts while eating a pine tree?
-
Enjoyful - I am in a one horse town in Utah. I hate to put the name of the town out on here because of certain people that I don't trust. KWIM?
-
oops..I thought they were shiny, andsome times red....SORRY
-
Isn't that sumac??
-
No snakes in NZ - that's why I want to move back there

3montsmama - Itinerary is 4 nights London, 2 weeks on golf tour in Ireland and Scotland, 7 nights tour of Scotland by ourselves, 4 nights in Paris, 4 nights in Wales then back to London for 3 nights and then home. I couldn't go to the UK and not go to Paris - interests me much more then London.
Apparently our son is upset we aren't spending more time with him in London - well tough. He's been perfectly horrid to us for a couple of years now since he got hooked up with a crazy woman. They didn't even invite us to their wedding because she was upset with us. We're only going to see them for the baby's sake - he is our grandson. It's going to be an interesting visit. We have professional advice to treat her like a 5 year old. I've not even met her yet!!!!
Sue
-
Wow, Sue, sounds like fun except having to deal with the daughter-in-law.
E, good to 'see' you. Glad you are feeling better. I will really see you in about 19 days!! Can't wait to see you again and to see all the folks I have not yet met!
Athena, are you SURE you can't come?
-
I told DH I want to go to Niagara on the Lake too and he suggested I fly over from the UK - silly boy. It was one of my most favourite places in Canada - apart from Vancouver Island and Vancouver and....
-
Susie .. your DH has a good idea! Meet us at the airport in Buffalo on the 13th!!
Bren
-
Jancie, I KWYM. At least parts of Utah are beautiful. Hope you're in a good part!
Hey Barbara! Yes, looking forward to seeing you again!
Susieq - why not? It's only an 8-hr flight or something like that. :-)
-
Come on susie!! We would love to meet you. See if there are flights from London to Buffalo.
-
We'll be exploring London and visiting with the baby, so sorry, can't do it. Maybe next year:)
-
It's not looking good, Barbara.
I have the details from Lindasa and HL if I should be able to make it, but I doubt it. I hope you do end up coming my way, though.
-
I will plan on staying an extra day to hang with my gal pals. Usually I swoop in the night before, work all day then swoop out at night. Will stay for a day or two next time. October (early looks like) may be when. Still too early to plan.

I had a heaping plate of vegetables for dinner - and nothing else (Fine print: dessert was fruit crumble with whipped cream).
-
I had a small bowl of healthy pasta with olive oil, turmeric, pepper, and salt.
-
I have to confess that I have never made roasted veggies, but did last night after reading about all the lovely and easy recipes you guys were exchanging. I didn't care for the broccoli, but I mixed up so many veggies, it took two turns in the oven to get all them them cooked. Leftovers for lunch today were even better.
On another note... my 5-year-old son has surgery early tomorrow morning. They are going to stick a scope in his bellybutton to see if they can find his undescended testicle (or as he likes to call it, his "nuts"). I'm so worried about him having to go through general anesthesia, and I hope they don't find anything twisted up inside, as that means the missing nut must have dissolved long ago. Then it's just a cosmetic issue, and not a potential cancer issue later on. Really, one nut is plenty, don't you think?

-
Not even going to say what dinner was, except it was yummy
ETA (((Joan)))
-
((Joan)) poor baby.
-
Thenewme is back!! (Holistic healing thread)
Edited to add:

Athena the stalker (play Jaws music).
-
Joan .. I'll be thinking of your little guy tomorrow and hoping all goes well.
hugs,
Bren
-
Joan, every family should have at least one nut (and usually does!). Seriously, my thoughts are with you and your sweet son. It sounds like routine laparoscopic surgery, and I know we're all counting on a happy outcome. Now, try and get some sleep tonight!
-
Joan, I'm hoping for a successful surgery tomorrow.
-
Best of luck to your boy, Joan.
-
Thanks for the wishes, lovely ladies. Like most little kids, he's nutty enough to make up for missing one, and so handsome I doubt any girls (or boys - he really likes pink lol) would even notice!
