    Barbara - absolutely beautiful

Libby - I collect books too and small teddy bears

DH wanted to buy me a Kindle but I said no - I prefer a real book. We only get the newspapers on Sat and Sun morning, otherwise we watch the tv news or go online.

My cut finger is still bleeding a bit. I put the bandaid on too tight and it was turning blue at the bus stop, so I had to try and losen it and upset the cut a bit so it bled a little - crap!!!

@work already, having my morning hot chocolate and apple/cinamon muffin :)

Susie - So interesting to see you in the rat race mode and most of us are finishing up

    azy weekends.

Stupid ipad - I hate typing in it. Anyway, I'm working, so happy fellow worker day. :-) Sorry about your finger.

Oooh, Sue, I hope your finger heals quickly.  Yikes to too-tight bandaids.

That bowl and pitcher set is absolutely stunning.  I knew that there was a period when handpainting china was the rage (can't remember exactly when), but no one in my family got into it.  (Or if they did, the results weren't something they chose to hand down.)

I have an entire bookcase of cheap, tattered paperbacks from my high school and college years wedged into a closet in the guest room.  I've probably moved some of them at least ten times over the years. Logically, I know they should be the first thing to go when I get serious about downsizing, but it's going to be a wrench.

    L

Edited to fix a very puzzling typo . . . "going to BE a wrench," not "going to a wrench."

Linda - yes we are the beehive state - Why?  I have no idea.  I am a transplanted Utahn.  I actually lived in the Dallas area for 22 years prior to moving here.

Rat race mode it is - I do actually have some coding/programming to do this week - just waiting for my development software to start up and I can start. It takes for ever, so I have time to catch up on here.

    Barbara, I love that set.

Susieq, I'm a rocker, through and through, but like R&B mostly.  Actually, I love classical music most of all.  Oh forgot about Michael Jackson.

Today was clean the house day, but we were done by 12 and went to a little beach near my DD.  The dogs weren't too appreciative of the water....especially it being their first time in it.  hehehehe!

Dinner was tomato and cucumber salad with a loaf of Italian bread.  Ray is washing strawberries right now for dessert.  Too hot for anything else.

Did I hear reading?  I've read everything from the classics to the smutty romance novels.  Kathleen E. Woodiwiss being one of my favouriter smut writers.  hahahahah!

Linda the painting of ceramics was all the rage from around the 10's through the 40's. My GM continued doing it into the 60's. She also hand painted dolls. Here is one of hers. She actually dipped lace in slip and arranged it ever so carefully.

I collect Dresdens.  I have about 20 of them.  That figurine reminds me of them.  Mine are all Rococo style.

Explain, please!  I love zucchini flowers, but have never heard of zucchini flower patties.

You clean the zucchini flowers and chop them up.

Add one egg, salt and black pepper.

Add one chopped clove of garlic.

    Here's where it gets tricky.

Add enough flour to make a thick consistency, but not thick enough to stand anything in, and not runny either.

Heat some oil in frying pan.

Drop tablespoons of flower mixture into hot oil.  Turn twice and voila done.

You can set them on paper towel to absorb some of the oil.

Sometimes we use mashed potatoes or rice instead of zucchini flowers.

Checking in at the end of a busy weekend. For newspaper readers just want to give a big shout out. I remember the good ole days of having to do an almost surgical scrub to get the ink off my fingers after reading the NYT.ah, memories...

Bren, I'm so happy for your son, and for you too!

I just got back from camping with my grandkids (and their parents).  It's the first time that I've done that since breast cancer entered my life.  Due to some residual issues I didn't know if I was up to it.  Then a recent cardiac scare made me question my abilities even more - ekg was good enough that the doctor let me go on the camping trip but wants me to schedule a stress test this week.  I'm happy to report that I did pretty darned well - had a blast with the grandkids swimming and playing games.

Hiking was more difficult but I managed short ones, drinking plenty of water along the way.  I really think that it's the heat and my asthma that's been causing my symptoms but I am still going to schedule that stress test.  I really can't tolerate heat and it seems like if I don't overheat and I spend a lot of time in the water I'm fine so I expect the test will be ok.

I love it, I'm waking up, when SusieQ is going to sleep - sweet dreams!

I'm with river-rat, oooh, love that ignore button.

Barbara, I'll bet there is a small historical society in the town where your GGM, and GM lived who would live to have one of those pieces.  in the 10's - that's so lovely.  The historial socisty in my little town ( pop about 1,000) has some of the earliest pictures made in USA.  Really livel to see what farms around me looked like then.

Hope all are having a lovely day - we're getting the heat the midwest has been suffering.

enjoy the zucchini, Blue, sounds delicious - and I'll bet it's a GORGEOUS color, oops, colour..

    A Monday morning funny:

It was the middle of the night, and Papa Mouse, Mama Mouse and their three little'uns were quietly making their way across the kitchen floor.

Suddenly, the family cat appears in the doorway.

Papa Mouse turns, stares at the cat and says "Bow Wow", and the cat runs away.

Papa Mouse turns to his offspring and says "That, my dear children, is the reason for learning a second language".

Aw... cute joke!  Even dh laughed, despite his bad mood.  (It's tough when someone's in a bad mood and it's only 9 a.m.)

I think we're going to a Harry Potter matinee today.  There's a bit of a dispute about whether we should go to the 3-D version (his choice) or the regular 2-D format (mine).  It will be a narrow, tiny theater room; and some of my FB friends have said the scenes are already so good that 3-D doesn't add much.  (I hate wearing the glasses, and I think the pop-out style is distracting.)

Breakfast was Sturdi-Wheat pancakes made with homegrown blueberries.  That's the last of our blueberries for this year, though -- the spring drought just shriveled 'em up.  The figs aren't looking so good, either.  At least it's been raining a bit every few days for the past couple of weeks.  What we need is a nice, soggy tropical system to move through.  Doesn't look like that's happening any time soon.

OTOH, it's another bright, sunny day in the Deep South.  Some people would trade for that.

Speaking of moods, this weather has me in a rotten one. I really wish I had a home in Argentina or Cape Town to spend "summers" there.

It is supposed to go over 100 later this week. I get anergic, anemic, sweaty and miserable. Grrrrrr!

Bren, great that you have lots of work coming in!
