What about white wine? I think that would be pretty good. I will let you know. I only have balsamic.

I'm going to cut the balsamic (also, all I have) with chicken broth. I'm also adding some rosemary. You can figure out why!

Ok girls - stop talking about the warm weather - it was 40 or less here this morning - colder once I got into the city for work. I must say I love it as I hate the humidity here in summer.

Barbara - looks like you live in heaven!!! My DH would love the golf course. We have similar developments here - on the Gold Coast and on the Sunshine Coast, unfortunately my work is in the city. Lots of people commute but I like being close to everything.

Have a drink on me girls and think of me sitting at my desk all day :)

I have used white wine with balsamic, and the result was very good.  We are having grilled stuffed poblano peppers tonight, with a side salad, but I will try Rosemary's recipe another evening.

I'll have that margarita on the rocks, please!

Thanks, IJBCA, I figured white wine is good with anything. Bren, so glad Tim is on the mend. I HATE throwing up. Off to cook.

Yes, I live in paradise. And I am grateful every day (except when hurricanes are coming). One bright spot is: at least we have days of warning unlike tornados or earthquakes.

Athena, your thread for the Mods is now locked out. Interesting. If someone already mentioned that, sorry. I'll go home in a few minutes and pour an adult beverage.

Edited to say I now see someone mentioned the thread was locked out. I had assumed that the lockout was for a different thread, darnit.

    Yeah, AnnW... we wish.

I am way behind here -- spent most of the day shuttling Mr. otter to and from various vehicles, all of which are in for repairs.  And, all the repairs, which were forecast to be minor, have turned out to be $$$$.  Sheesh. Don't even ask about the boat, please.  We got one of the estimates earlier this week, and it made me pass out cold.  The other repair shop hasn't submitted a repair estimate at all -- they won't even return our phone calls.

Okay.  Some catch-up (not ketchup):  "Has Percocet been recalled?"  I don't think so.  As someone else posted upstream, I couldn't find anything on any of my usual pharma sites (Rxlist.com etc.) that said Percocet was no longer available.  What has happened is that the FDA has become very concerned about the amount of acetaminophen (a.k.a. "Tylenol") people are getting in over-the-counter products, as well as in prescription analgesics like Percocet.  I read on one website that the FDA considers acetaminophen to be the leading cause of liver failure in the U.S.  That is scary!

Back in 2009, an FDA panel did recommend that Percocet and other painkillers containing acetaminophen should be pulled off the market (http://www.journalgazette.net/article/20090630/BLOGS23/906309902).

Instead of recalling them, the FDA considered issuing a request that manufacturers limit the amount of acetaminophen in their combination products (http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/01/13/us-drugs-painkiller-idUSTRE70C48O20110113).  Some products used to have as much as 750 mg per dose; most of the new formulations will have considerably less than that (e.g., http://www.rxlist.com/percocet-drug.htm).

This page has links to articles discussing the problem with acetaminophen in Percocet and other drugs, and what the FDA was thinking of doing about it:  http://drugrecallwatch.wordpress.com/tag/percocet/

I don't use Tylenol because it's worthless for me.  It never helped with menstrual pain; it doesn't help with my headaches; and it has no effect at all on the aches and pains I get from Arimidex.  One OTC Advil/ibuprofen is all it takes.

OTOH, I do think it's time for one of my light margaritas.  Who's our BCOB&G bartender?

Embarassed  I am the one that opened my mouth and inserted my foot.

You are right Percocet has not been recalled - I mixed that up with another drug.

When they recall Percocet, they'll just have to recall me as well. I have my stash, but haven't taken one in over 6 months. Gotta keep that stash, though. Don't ever want to be too far away from it. Just in case.

Dinner was delicious. Barb, I wished for some mushrooms, thought they'd be really good. I'm calling my dish "Fricken Chicken Rosemary".

That's okay, Jancie.  I'm glad the question was brought up here, because I learned some things while investigating the rumor.  I didn't know the FDA had asked companies to decrease the acetaminophen content in their combo products.  I also didn't know acetaminophen is the leading cause of liver failure (!).  Percocet was my friend after my mast/SNB (as well as other prior surgeries), so I was worried about it disappearing.

Mr. otter is grilling some of the lake trout fillets he found in the glacier.  They smell yummy.  I think there's a veggie involved, too, but I don't  know what he has chosen.  I'm not very hungry, so we're skipping the starch.  (Also, I still haven't made it to the grocery store.)

Tonight we're watching the German film, "Downfall" ("Der Untergang"), from Netflix.

Oops.  I just heard the dinner bell.

Otter -- Glad to hear I'm not the only one for whom tylenol is useless.  OTOH, advil works wonders!

Do any of you suffer from Restless leg Syndrome?  I've had it since I was a wee one (mom had it too).  Doc wanted to Rx a drug called Requip but I said forget it -- not another Rx drug!  Sometimes ativan helps.  But it gets me in the evening, and sometimes in my arms as well.  Hate taking ativan for it.  Any suggestions?  Other than going out and walking a mile or two?

Had chicken tonight with rosemary and garlic, but next time I'll be sure to try Fricken Chicken Rosemary!

Have you tried the bar of soap under the covers? People swear it works. I'm much too cynical to believe them, tho.

I had RLS but no more, the l-dopa I take took care of it.  Stay away from requip.  It works but like Mirapex can cause OCD.

The Fricken chicken was awesome! Thank Rosemary! The mushrooms and bok Choy really made it. DH gave it three thumbs up.

I had leg cramps which isn't the same as restless leg at night; nevertheless, the bar of soap under the sheets has worked wonders.

The bar of soap IS amazing -- for leg cramps!  And thanks for the tip about Requip, Blue!  I have a very minor form of OCD (as in, I have to do stuff an even number of times).  I sure wouldn't want to exacerbate that little problem!

Yes, it can cause all kinds of Impulse Control Disorders, like uncontrollable gambling, eating, shopping, sex (that one's not bad hehe).  If you google it you can read all the bad things it can do,

I am glad I am not the only one that stashes the good stuff.  Percocet, Lortabs, Lorazepam, Morphine, the list goes on and on.  If there is a refill - I will refill whether I need it or not.  There will come a time that I need it and I don't want to have to go to the doctor just to get meds.

Can the bar of soap be any kind?  I think I heard Ivory Soap.  Hubby has leg cramps and I'd heard of that but he's never tried it.  Just might now that some of you say it works.

My grandfather once took way too many aspirins - because he had some sort of injury and not much memory about how many he took. The result was he had to be taken to hospital where he was diagnosed with senility. His caretaker vehemently objected saying senility doesn't start that fast. Indeed it was aspirin poisoning, he got better and lived to 93, playing bridge and not taking so many aspirins.
