Oh, Blue, you are wise.  I'm still too angry about it to be bored.  But I think boredom is the right place to be.

I was thinking, maybe there should be a Forum for Alternatives -with a very, VERY strong warning about the contents.  ALA the Stage IV Forum - but in the case of the Alternatives it would be as stongly worded as possible as "only opinions, not good medical advice, untested, whatever."

I do wish that Complementary cold be completely separated from Alternative.

    trying for boredom...

speaking of neurobiological disorders (to put it in the most "PC" terms possible)... Not the saddest story on BCO by a long shot, but the most pathetic.

I think you just have to realize that if you wade into these trainwrecks that the purpose is only to put the other point of view out there for those who may be reading or read it later.  Damage control I guess.

Bren ... I hope Tim is doing better today?

Thanks for asking Rabbit!  He's actually sitting up.  Still not eating or drinking except a tiny bit of gatorade.  I've been mowing the fields and need to get to the store to get some chicken noodle soup and more gatorade.

That's funny that this is the 'homeroom' thread.  I think of it as my 'home' thread on BCO, where all my friends are.  But the reference to school is silly.

I better get a move on it ...

    hugs to all,

How about 'BCO Bar and Grill' instead Cool  That way we can have adult language and beverages.

Usually with that stomach stuff not eating is not all bad ... gives the tummy a chance to recover.  Drinking however is important so hopefully he will be able to keep some liquids down.

BCOB&G, must better than homeroom.  I'd like a glass of cold white wine please.  Never could learn to like the taste of beer - except when the can was holding up a chicken on the BBQ.

that other thread has gone wild - help me stay awaaaaaaaay...just gotta let the Moderators handle that madness.  But something really WAS in the water - seems alot of people thinking, or not thinking really, alike signed on in Apri, May, June 2011.

Deep breaths, otter.  Deep breaths.  That's it.  Count to ten (yes, otters have 5 toes on each foot).  Okay... you're back in your homeroom now.  You can open your eyes.

Think of it as an exercise in self-control.

Someone announces that she "goes against the Breast Cancer Medical Industrial Complex" (whatever that is).  And then she invites discussion of that subject by saying, "So, we can have a discussion."

But, it quickly becomes apparent that the invitation is disingenuous.  A real discussion -- a debate for and against "the Breast Cancer Medical Industrial Complex," for example -- was never the intention.  The purpose of the invitation seems to have been to promote the bashing of conventional medicine, pharmaceutical companies, medical education, the FDA process for review and approval of drugs and medical devices, the motives and character traits of people employed in the health professions....

All of that is old news.  It really isn't worthy of the attention it's getting.

Someone upstream observed that the "discussion" seems more like a conversation among similar-minded people in a private chat room.  Very true, and consistent with most of the other "discussions" that take place in that neighborhood (with one recent and important exception).

Real debate is prohibited, lest anyone post something that might weaken one of the unsubstantiated claims.  Anybody questioning the veracity of a claim or offering evidence to contradict it is immediately run off.

Honestly, I can't think of any other place on these Boards where that is allowed to happen.

Otter's right.  I called it a "chat room" - and that's FINE if it was in the Growing our Friendships Forum - but NOT where it is.

OK deeeeeeeep breathing, deeeeeeeep breating.  but I just HAD to add to the Statistics one of teh SP's posted - OUT OF CONTEXT...

    ddeeeeeeppp breathing....thanks, Otter

I have a theory that sounds absurd and that I only give credence to because of the absurdity of the situation: the acting up started again after susieq's "chemo/complementary" thread overtook "only alternative/holistic" in number of hits and posts. The attention-getting kicked in again, helped by the coincidence of a different poster, leia, starting a new thread. A Cluster B mess all around.

But it's getting boooooring. I'm not much of a children person to being with.

Bren, Tim's going to make himself delirious if he keeps watching Fox!

We are actually debating that very question on another thread. I think it's a legitimate one, as you phrase it here.

    Athena

bingo!  I think you nailed it.  SusieQ's thread is popular, informative, fun, supportive, and growing. There are only sp's ( it seems to me?) posting on the other thread.

but to not accept EVIDENCE as I just posted it, from the VERY ARTICLE, someone is trying to use to show the opposite - and then call the information I posted "crap" - huh?  There really is no way to get thru...

    boredom approaching.....thank goodness

I read on the thread that has gone through the looking glass that I made light of ADHD. If anyone here thinks that let me know. I will tell you exactly how it has impacted my life, from the time I was 3 years old and my little brother put his fist through the window because he wanted to catch the ambulance going by. I think I have a long list of people(or just a few with lots of names) to put on ignore

"There are only sp's ( it seems to me?) posting on the other thread."

Since you, and Athena, and Bluedahlia and White Rabbit and Barbara A and Anne NYC all posted there today, are you implying that you are all sock puppets?

If we were dealing with one person with one ID, then it would be worth the debate, but the various puppets chiming in is just getting old.

Now, you're gonna ask, if you moved beyond what are you still doing here.  I have made friendships.  If it means having to put up with a few nuts on the way, then so be it.
