Also, Tim is feeling better.   I made a big pot of noodles and added some Campbells chicken noodle soup, and thank goodness, he ate some of that.

OT ... OMG you guys I have fabulous news.  My son just got a job teaching physics at a college in San Diego.  Thank god .. the student loans were overwhelming them.  I'm so proud of him, I could burst wide open.

Thanks you guys ... I'm just grinning from ear to ear!  He also has a job teaching physics part time for a SAT high school course.  He greatly prefers the college kids to high school.

Rosemary .. he has ADD and dyslexia too.  And he dropped out of high school.  He's a whiz in math, but can barely spell his own name.  So this is just a wonderful thing for him to accomplish!

Oh, my gyn's office bullied that doctor's office into moving it up to the 7th -- it was the onc.  I'm now considering divorcing him -- I'd like him to be a LITTLE MORE concerned that I have a recurrence, instead of blowing it off 'cause it's DCIS.  Surgeons are all set, met with them last week -- bilateral with immediate DIEP.  Onc will wait until after.  I didn't want to load up with too many details here until dates were set, etc.  It properly belongs on the DIEP 2011 thread, but I love my peeps here & want to stay put.

Interestingly, the Universe just sent me a BIG message about that.  A roomie of a colleague of DH's had uni MX w/ DIEP 10 years ago for DCIS -- big deal surgeon in Bethesda. It gets all kinds of compliments, people are called in to see it, etc.  Worked out beautifully, no permanent impairment, everything is great.  Except SHE WAS JUST DX WITH DCIS IN THE OTHER BREAST.  Somebody sent me a message.  BMX is the right thing to do!  Cancer has had two bites -- it doesn't get a third.

I agree with you Libby .. twice is enough.  The DIEP sounds like a good way to go and I know you've researched the heck out of the procedure.  I know you might want to post on the DIEP thread, but keep us in the loop over here too.

Congrats to you and your family, Bren, on all counts.  HappyLibby, do what it takes to make that schedule work out.  I wish I was headed for Canada.  Oh.  No, I didn't mean that.  I don't even have a passport. 

You guys are way behind.  The Bar & Grill's been open all afternoon, and I had a margarita over an hour ago.  I have maybe two doses of alcohol a week, or less... but I was desperate to find an escape from the madness of the Medical Industrial Complex.  Mostly I have margaritas because I like the lime mix -- I un-cap the tequila bottle and wave it over the top of the glass for a whiff of liquor.

I have no idea what dinner will be.  We were out of town for 2 weeks and had run out of groceries before we left; and I've been too unmotivated to drive 14 miles to the nearest store since we got back.  Mac & cheese with hot dogs? Maybe I can find some of that fake crab meat buried in the glacier/freezer, and make fake-crab-meat tetrazzini. Hmm... Mr. otter likes rolls or biscuits; can I figure out how to make biscuits from scratch with canned milk and only one egg?  Am I that motivated???

adding my cheers to Athenas ( roars) for BLM.  I had the beast in several places in one boob, so lumpectomy was not an option, and I wouldn't have wanted one.  But I KNEW I wanted them BOTH set to "heaven" or wherever boobs go when we're done with them.  Mine were large, and at age 62, as Maya Angelou I think was the person who said it, " having a race to my waist." But I did have to be VERY strong about demanding that they BOTH go. Surgeon questioned whether my insurance would cover, etc. but my decision was quite firm ( polite for me when I'm being very determined;)

And, yup, you guessed it - some not good stuff was in the other Big Boob, previously known as the "good" one!  My surgeon had the good grace to compliment me on "following" my gut.  Too old to go thru DIEP, and more surgery - so just little implants now.  They kinda remind me of small poached eggs.  Mostly I LLOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE not having to wear a bra.

There - now we've talked about bc.  Are all the "visitors" happy?  Or do we still need to pass out pacifiers???  Tho I think Aluminum Foil hats are more fun.
