    Good Morning Friends!

Susie .. I can't believe how fast the two weeks have gone by.  Glad you're holding up well.

Diane .. I like James Patterson too .. but haven't read any of his books in a while.

Hope everyone has a good day today ... any plans for the weekend?

I'm going to take it easy, lots of rain is expected and Tim won't be home until Sunday.

    hugs,

    Bren

Hi Blue .. Swanky dinner sounds like fun!  Is it a special occasion?  It's fun to get dressed up and go out.

I saw on my bank account that the govt cashed my check for the passport.  Yippee!  I should be getting my passport card soon.  I'm so excited.  Can't wait to see you in August!

    hugs,

    Bren

Ican't wait either, Bren.  No special occasion.  It's on Ray's Company he works for.  They had a special project running last weekend and he had to go in a few times so that's his compensation.  We can go anywhere we want.

Have fun at your get together girls!  Max got a summer haircut yesterday (now I know why nobody wanted him). Poor thing...his looks really went down hill when he didn't have all that hair covering up his features. I'll see if I can post a pic in the next couple of days.

Here's a complete change of subject! Let's talk about nude photo shoots! (Got your attention??)

Our local cancer rehab clinic is doing a fund raiser, and they decided on a calendar called "Boulder in the Buff." It features cancer survivors who have used the clinic to help them get back to their favorite sport (and this being Boulder, EVERYONE has at least one favorite sport!)

I jumped at the chance for this. So, yesterday was my shoot (at my home) of me climbing a rock, wearing my chalk bag, rock shoes, and a smile. Call me Miss July?? The picture looks pretty good!

The photographer wants to do a series on cancer surviors and their care givers--the "unsung heroes" in our lives. Similar to the SCAR PROJECT by David Jay, if any of you are familiar with his work. (He's on FB, as well as having a website.) So, he asked Tim and me to come in for a shoot next week. Not sure how he'll set it all up, but it should be interesting!!

Good for you Anne!  Although I think I'd rather be wearing some denim to get me over rough rock!  Ouch!

We are having a freaking monsoon here. I swear it has rained 4 inches since yesterday at 7. My unscientific way to measure is to look in my empty flower pot which now has 4 inches of rain in it. Hope everyone has a great weekend.

I agree Barbara,  Went to Tampa to see the BS today. It was raining so hard we were driving 20 miles an hour on the highway. I saw 5 accidents in the two hour drive. One had 5 cars involved, and it happened right in front of me.

Fabulous.  Where can we buy one?  expect you've heard of the "original" nude, with Sunflowers in appropraite places calendar made in England by a group of women in honor of one of their best friend's husband who died of cancer.  Great fundraiser - and then a funny movie with Helen Mirren: The Calendar Girls.

Some rain here following a very muggy day and a half. Unfortunately, the sweltering weather continues.

    Athena,

I left DC for Chicago 25 years ago and I still laugh when people here talk about the humidity. I suggest they spend a day in DC in July or August if they want to know what humidity is really like - 98 degrees and 99% humidity.

CherryIH - I used to live in Miami Beach, where people think they have the worst summers....not for a second. DC summers make you feel as though you have the weight of the world on your shoulders.

Hi Chaplain!  Our humidity is at 94% right now and the temps are in the 80's.  Rain is on the way.  Too bad it doesn't cool things down.

Caerus .. I remember that movie .. it was cute.  I'm not so sure I'd want this old body in a calendar though, even with strategically placed sunflowers.

    Hi Bren,

I loved that movie. Some of us at my church suggested we do a calendar as a fund raiser, but then came to our senses! No one would pay to see our not so toned bods!!!

I grew up in DC ---the running joke was that all the diplomats from equitorial regions LOVED DC because it was just like home.  I left for the weather.  I went away to grad school and missed a couple of summers, then came back for the wedding.  Ended up taking an oath that I would never live in such hellish weather again and have barely been back since.

    Give me Snow Anyday!

and Congrats to ANNE!!!!! I think thats awesome. As I recall, the movie that Helen Mirrin was did not feature any particularly toned bods.  that, i think, was part of the point. . .

Anne, that's amazing!  Tell us where and when we can buy the calendar.

My daughter's friend is coming to our home from England for 5 days.  I have never met, but I am looking forward to hosting her.  I plan to cook some Italian food, some French crepes with a blueberrry and banana cream sauce, and some good, healthy food.  I can't wait!

I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Athena, with you on DC summers. My beach community is mild compared to that. We at least have a 10mph breeze all the time. Temps never go above maybe 94 at best.

When I lived in DC I met an older woman, a naturalized Brit, who had come to the US to work at the British Embassy the earlly 60s. She told me they got "hardship" pay during the summers because the living conditions were so horrible!!!

She deserved every penny! Now with global warming I shudder (if it's cold enough, that is) to think what awaits us.

Spent one summer in DC about 20 yrs ago. It was enough for me. I live in So California now and the weather here really is all it is cracked up to be. Beautiful most of the time. I feel very fortunate as I also grew up in Mass. and summers there were no picnic either.

LOL....Clowns scare me more than zombies do.  On my PD forum, I post a lot of pics, not because it will cure us, but because they make everyone feel better.  Depression is a big part of PD so anytime I can get a smile out of them, it's something.

    P.S.  I only posted a couple a day.

I complain that I have been hot for 32 years, which is how long I have lived in DC metro after moving here from the Midwest. I seldom even wear a big winter coat ... Mostly a breathable parka with a fleece liner. It is simply monstrous in DC in the summer! It is a fun place to live otherwise, but the weather stinks!

Judie, I understand there are two places in the world with weather like San Diego's -- San Diego and Lisbon. Lucky you!
