My daughter studies presently in Utrecht/Holland.

She is 23 years old, and has discovered a small little "thing" in her breast.

She does not want to go and see a doc, as a Canadian she would pay a lange fee just to see someone.

I offered her to pay for a consultation, but she says its nothing, just a tiny little bump.

I am freaking out, and dont know what to advice her.

Anyone has some good advice ??

Mamita, does the university where she's studying have some sort of student health clinic?  And/or does she possibly have student health insurance that covers her abroad?  This might have been an option when she paid her fees, so be sure she or you (whoever has the paperwork) checks the fine print.  Otherwise, maybe call the Dutch Embassy (wherever that would be in Canada), and ask them what a Canadian student in her situation might do.  Just some thoughts.   Hopefully, it's nothing and she's just being extra vigilent (which is good!) because of your dx.  But I know it's especially hard when they're that far away!    Deanna

Is she planning on coming back to Canada for a visit?  Maybe she could get checked at that time.

I also wonder if she can get supplemental insurance to cover her while she is abroad.  My son has some through his job in Vancouver but it only cover himself.  My DIL was going to come to my nieces wedding this weekend in the states but found out that since she is within 8 weeks of her due date she wouldn't be covered  if anything happened in the US since it's a pre-existing condition.

The fact that she mentioned it to you is a sign that she is concerned.  There is a very high probabilty that it's a cyst or even her connective tissue that she is feeling instead of anything more sinister.  But it would be important for her to know that so she understands what is normal in her breast and what isn't.
