I take green tea, calcium, vit d-3 baby aspirn, iodine, aromasin, IP6, I would take fish oil but my oncologist said it's better to eat fish 2-3 times a week so that is what I do..I eat really well, workout 1-2 hours per day.I also drinkg 2-3 liters per day of water.

Iodine...what is that supposed to do?? Should I be taking it?? Haven't heard of that before.
I only take Vit D, Calcium and Aspirin (3-4 X a week). But I drink 3 cups of green tea a day, and eat fatty fish 2-3 times a week as well (sardines are great, cheap, easy and also very high in Vit D)
Also eat high fiber, vege rich diet, limit meat and alcohol.
And most importantly, I exercise every day for at least an hour. (sometimes that is just walking)

Hey kerry-- there is a school of thought that believes alot of breast cancers are caused by iodine deficiency-- here's some info:
http://breastcancerchoices.org/iodine.html
I figure it can't hurt!
-
How does everyone know which supplements to take? Kind of confusing. Did you check with oncologist, or someone else? Just curious.

Sharalou, I see a nutritionist who helps me figure it out. I do run everything by my oncologist, who used to not take any of it seriously but is now taking DIM herself!
-
OK, so what is DIM?? how much iodine do you take?
My Onc thinks it is all a big joke too, I no longer ask her about things (advice), I just ask her if it will hurt me.
-
DIM is basically an extract of cruciferous vegetables (broccoli, cabbage + brussels sprouts) that helps turn the bad estrogen into good estrogen. I here's some info:
http://www.diindolylmethane.org/cliinical_applications.htm
I take one tablet a day of Iodoral-- I think its 12.5mg
-
Thanks
-
My nieghbor is a researcher for a drug that is studying the effects of broccoli and bc. She was telling me that it absorbs the estrogen. I am no a broccoli fanantic.
Christin what brand Iodine do you take? I actually take Kelp which is iodine.
-
Hi all, Thanks for all of your input. It has been very helpful. I am going to look into your suggestions .SharonH
-
Hey Jen-- I take Iodaral--
-
Well, I bought some kelp today, took my first one tonight!
-
Kerry just make sure when you go to the doc you get your throid checked. If you are hyper throid in ANWAY you don't want to take iodine or kelp...
