Isn't great that we have a holiday everyone can just call the Fourth of July and know what it's about. I say that or Independence Day but how many holidays are SO special that you just have to say the date...not say what the reason for the holiday is because EVERYBODY knows already?

Happy 4th of July......we will have a house and backyard full of family, friends and neighbors over. Start about 2:00 and continue on until late this evening. This is one of the best celebrations we have during the year. Everyone be safe and have a wonderful day!

I cleaned a house today - I know it was a holiday but I clean 2 houses every week and this week is totally booked up getting ready for the horse show so the guy said I could go ahead and clean it.  I then rode my horse, got home and dinner was cooked!

Back to watching Casey Anthony Trial - it has been turned over to the jury.  They deliberated almost 6 hours today without a verdict.

Lindasa - I am ignoring it!  Seriously I am hesitant to take pain meds right now with all of the horse riding I am doing - it does slow my reaction time.  I so want to take a percocet but tomorrow I will be cussing myself if I do.  It hurt to drive that 45 minutes home today because it is too difficult to sit on my left cheek when I have a stick shift.

No 4th of July is complete for me without the 1812 Overture and Stars and Stripes Forever. And I can look down onto the plains of Denver and surrounding communities and watch their fireworks from up here. Not as dramatic, but still pretty cool to see them going up all over the Front Range!

Susie - did you get a note from the mods as to why? I didn't click on the links in the thread but I read the text of the few posts and saw nothing amiss, to say the least. 

I wrote back and told them people need to know the truth about alternative treatments and they should get rid of one thread that wastes lots of server space ie one with lots of pictures

IMO, they should have kept a close eye on that thread and locked it (not shut it down) if things got out of hand. Stepping in too early is as problematic as stepping in too late. Sorry it happened to you, Susieq.

They tried to tell us not to discuss politics but that was impossible to police. Discussing alternative approaches, from whatever perceptive, must be permitted (just as criticizing chemo and rads should be permitted without the person getting creamed).

People don't understand that this is not a forum for medical advice, and we are not experts. This is a support forum to share our experiences. People should be able to say what they want. And any reader, newbie included, should be aware that this is a place to share and even discuss information, but not to get a medical opinion. I am always shocked when I see posts of people asking whether they should do this or that treatment and responses saying "do it" or "don't do it." There should be a disclaimer that this is not a place for medical advice and that posters beware. We can point people to the literature, inform them of general practice but we should NEVER say "do this - it worked for me." Ratherm a person can say: "this worked for me, I don't know if it will work for you, so ask your doctor."

If BCO had a visible disclaimer to that effect, it might help. The "don't do it" chemo thread could have been locked early in the game and susie's thread would have been allowed to survive.

Sue, I don't see how you were intentionally "inviting trouble"--are YOU responsible for how other people respond? I think not. I saw that thread as a balance to the threads that say "don't do chemo or rads, they'll kill you" (and then give an article on how someone DID die from conventional treatment.)

As adults, we all know that the extremes can happen. But they are outliers. Nonetheless, it could be ME as that outlier, so I need all information I can get to make my decisions. I am less likely, personally, to go solely with "anecdotal" stuff (like, "my neighbor's thrid cousin's best friend did such and such and now she's dead/alive/whatever!") But, if I react strongly to a post, it's more MY issue than the OPs.

Anyway, that's just my take. Sorry they jumped on you and closed you down. I think they are so happy that everyone's in Wonderland right now (so they can catch their breath!) that anything remotely controversial will be eliminated.
