Hey..Navy..you lurker you..that's ok..glad you posted though..been thinking about you...maybe you are just on a plateau....and all of a sudden it will drop off..don't be discouraged..you are doing the right things...
Keep in mind that being TOO skinny makes you look older..fat evens the old wrinkles out..just keep that in mind.
I went to a local store today..if you bought some make up you you rec'd a free gift..the counter lady asked me if i wanted a cream to erase wrinkles..or to prevent them..I went for the preventative cream...bold of me I know...thinking that I didn't have any wrinkles NOW...
This is off topic but the lady's name was Nicole...my daughter asked me if I thought that she/he had had a sex change...ha ha..she did have a really deep voice and was kinda mannish for a make up counter lady..funny stuff...we think that her original name may have been Nicholas.
Then we ate at an Applebee's..dinner salad for me..and there was a dead fly in it..sometimes the fun never ends.

Titan: Lol, I think that same Wo(man) works at my Nordstroms. Fly in your salad? ewww!
Navymom: Muscle weighs more then fat, too. Don't give up!
-
Thanks for the support. But it is my own fault. I will try to improve my eating habits.....guess I need a boot in the butt(my juicy butt)

Titan- Dead fly? Oh that isn't very appetizing at all....
Navy Mom - I agree muscle does weigh more.... Right after my diagnois I was just so very good about everything I ate..... I guess totally paralysing fear can do that - don't want to go back there but really trying to eat better is important so I keep telling myself tomorrow I'll do better and hopefully one of these days I will...
One thing that helped me a lot the last time when I did lose a lot of weight was I would only try 5 lbs at a time and that was all I thought about trying to lose as my trainer told me 5 pounds off is one dress size smaller - for me that was a good incentive..... so trying to do that for myself as well. Oh I never gave my dreaded weight number it is 140. There I have written it so it will get smaller, right?

Hi ladies. I'm new to breast cancer and new to the boards. My onocologist said that I can lose weight during chemo and I am anxoius about it. My husband died about 7 months ago and I've put on about 10 pounds during the time, in addition to already being overweight. My blood sugars have been high with my blood tests (though none were fasting) and that has me very concerned. So...I need to lose weight!
I just started chemo last week and had my second treatment today. I have had success with WW before and am considering going back to that, but I am not sure I am up for counting points or caloreis religiously. I have also thought about doing nutrisystem or medifast because of the convenience. I am just not sure how that will work on days when I feel like I can't eat because of the chemo. I'm in a medically supervised exercise program for cancer patients and am currently limited to light exercise. I see that doctor again next week so I am going to talk to him about my goals and increase the workouts as I feel up to it.
Ughhh...I hate cancer!

Blondelawyer..my onc said I would lose weight during chemo too...I GAINED 20 POUNDS! I think that alot of us on this thread are trying to lose chemo weight.
My onc told me to eat whatever I wanted so I did...I was very thin at the time so I think they were afraid I would lose more weight...I did not.
I guess you should just eat sensibly and what appeals to you

My docs all told me that it's pretty common to gain weight during chemo. I gained about 5 pounds, but it would have been much more had I not been part of a clinical study on exercise - they had me walking 2-3 miles 5 times a week, weight training, and fortunately I was well enough to keep skiing.
Since chemo I've lost about 10 pounds, with healthier eating (and exercise).
blondelawyer: I think it will be hard to stick to a diet during chemo. Just try to eat healthy things as much as possible, fruits and veggies and whole grains. And please don't worry about indulging a bit, eat what you feel like. (I had a craving for MacD Angus brugers) It's important to keep up your strength and red blood count. At least, that's my advice, for what it's worth.

Loosing weight is HARD ladies!
Dead FLY.

Info for those that are always hungry...if you mix some Metamucil (orange/sugar free) with water, the fiber will make you feel full. And fiber is always good. My low blood sugar makes me want to eat every 2-3 hours, but I run out of 'healthy' food and motivation, so this has worked in the past. Especially at work when you can't take time to have a snack! I can't exercise and can barely walk around the block because of my stupidback, so I just have to be super careful what I eat. Not easy to do when you're home all day every day (watching the Casey Anthony trial~~) Anyway, I bounce around alot, but I'm at a solid 144. My max during chemo was 158, so I"m patting myself on the back. I did have to buy new size 16 tankinis for the long weekend (spent at the beach) to accomodate my new huge foobs! Stupid ps. The girls admired the cleavage starting just under my NECK, but they still feel like grapefruits and are heavy as well. Ok, starting to bitch again...which is why I'm not posting much anymore.
ok, Heidi, I'm down a POUND !!

Was at 133 this morning. Why oh why can't I do this? I am eating out of stress this week. Had PT/CT scan on Monday and have to wait until this coming Monday for the results. I am hungry all the time.
-
HI all - haven't posted here in a long time because I was not making any progress at all. However, I've been off chemo since April 14th for surgery and recovery and have been feeling much better and more motivated - lost 2 pounds so am at 173!
We have been making a weekly trip to the farmer's market and eating lots more veggies than we used to and are having fun trying new recipes. By the way - someone just sent me a cookbook called 'The Cancer-Fighting Kitchen' by Rebecca Katz - everything I've tried so far has been really good. Starting chemo again next week so I'll see how long my renewed motivation lasts....planning to do the Taxol first (I think) followed by DD AC.
Titan - I hope you found the fly early in the meal....

Make a drink with Metamucil ...its fiber. Fills you up. You won't be hungry if you seriously don't want to eat right then:)
-
dlcw: I have that cookbook and it was really useful during chemo!!!
-
Thanks, I'll try the Metamucil - hope the taste isn't too horrid. I'm just stuck right were I have been. Did pretty good for a couple of days - didn't weigh but thought I could tell a bit of a difference then totally blew it so once I weighed back to same ol same ol. Off to exercise this am so still trying....
-
139 this morning! But going to a wedding today...plan on enjoying myself..with both liquids AND wedding food...!
-
Me too... I'm in New York eating my way through Greenwich Village!
-
Oh My God... I'm not even going to *say* what I gained this weekend. It's going to take me two weeks to get my weight back down. I hate myself...
-
Ya' play, ya' pay!
It'll come right off~
-
My weight has been going up. BUT, I have started walking 40 minutes every (weekday) morning now the school year is done, so hopefully I will start heading in the right direction. I am so flabby!
-
Hi Girls , I have been in Florida visiting my Godson & God daughter. I have been exercising , but i guess not enough to prevent weight gain. 151.1 lbs. Today
Have a great day girls.

Just got back from the Dr and my PT/CT is clean. So now, no more excuses. Dr. was happy she said I lost 4 pounds since February. Ok but Doc I gained 10 during/after treatment so I still have 6 to go. 133 this morning. I stopped at Chick Filet and got the new Chargrilled/fruit salad, it is very tasty.
