Hummingbird here...Sorry Karen it has been a crazy day in my neighborhood both at personal and at work...I was just going to post for you when I saw your post
My Gpa past away on Wednesday, one week shy of his 90th Birthday, he had stage IV prostate cancer. My family is disfunctional to say the very least and although he had 5 children, all living, I was asked to write the obit, track down long last family members who I never met and had to deal with the crazy there is not going to be a service, let have a service, lets wait until x-date, no lets have a BBQ Saturday. Oy Vay, I'm tired!

Dear Michele, so sorry to hear of your grandpa's passing and the turmoil going on around you. People always turn to the most capable person to do the working of all the details to be taken care of and that person is you. You have had so much to deal with in a short period of time, I hope the days start to calm down for you. You still got all your exercise in, that is great!! hugs, Karen
-
Have I mentioned before how much I love Fridays?
I truly love being able to count on hearing from so many of our birdie-herd all in one big swoop!!!! It truly makes me smile to hear from so many --- working on the same goals of healthy behavior.
Fri check in = 3 points
Weight same = 1 point
Water = 7 points
Exercise = 13 points
Extra credit = 1 point, I have really made some progress at doing positive things such as instituting taking a daily vitamin, working on my yoga outside of the class, stretching throughout the day, answering emails at the time I receive them..... good self-care on a daily basis
Total = 25 points
Big hugs to each and every one of you who are still working the plan in the face of life's genuine trials, frustrations, set-backs, upheavals, holidays, travel and all of the other do-dads that can derail good intentions in a snap.
Fly out Sun to be a full-time GeeGee to my 3 WonderPeeps for an entire week on my own, while their parents go to a destination wedding of dear friends. Send prayers for good health for all and for my stamina. I haven't ever attempted anything of this magnitude on my own, particularly since my issues with Lymphedema. The twins are now 3 and quasi-self-sufficient, but I know that they will want me to carry them about -- which I must be steadfast and refuse to do on a regualar basis.

Checking in after a couple busy weeks of forgetting that it was Friday!
Exercise - 6 points
Water - only 6 points
Weight - down 3 after slight increases - 2 points
Friday check-in - 3 points
New E-Lab low - 1 point
Total - 18 points
Clearly - more exercise, more water, less carbs - works best for me. We've been busy and it's harder to plan low carb meals with guests or eating away from home. I lost 6 pounds at Curves since last measured, and gained 2 abdominal inches! I'm sure it's the carbs - so practice practice, practice! With God's help, I no longer desire high carbs or sweets - and I'll get more practice this weekend when we have alot of bread, and pie! This is a new week - another chance for more points!
-
Sorry to hear about your grandpa, Michelle. It's always a hard time, and harder when YOU have to handle so many details! I hope you can focus on the good memories of his life and feel comforted.
Enjoy those peeps Faith! I'm sure they will LOVE having you there! And we'll love the pictures!
-
Bwak! Oh, sorry, wrong thread!
Roadrunner, checking in - 3 pts!
Water - 6 pts
Useless as far as exercise but starting anew after PT consult
Weight - haven't the foggiest - maybe I can check tomorrow
Haven't successfully resisted a single temptation during this week full of stress and celebration - drama/trauma and youngest graduating from high school - Yay!
9 lousy points - I guess better than none. I keep choking on the dust from the wagon as it passes me by...
-
bookart--I'm right there beside you. Here's my extra bandana to tie around your mouth. We'll catch up with that dang wagon sooner or later!
-
Is the bandana to keep dust out or to keep food out? I may have to try that!
-
Sorry about your Gpa Michelle.
-
Michelle, sorry to hear about your Gpa and the extra work you're having to do to make things "happen" for the family. Your Gpa would thank you if he could!
Faithie, I took care of my GS's for 10 days last Sept. DD & DSIL went to a conference. I just had to have a really good schedule for them to follow because we all had to be at daycare, school and work by 8:00! I used the kitchen timer a couple of times....LOL just so they knew we had just so many minutes to get something done. They liked to play games after school so we had down time, loved the bath time and after a long day at school/daycare they were ready for bed.... I still had lunches to make and the kitchen to clean. Believe me, I was ready for bed by 9:30!
Wouldn't change anything.... loved doing it. The LE makes it a bit harder but I didn't lift the little one. Had a step stool so he could reach the sink, etc. Boys are very independent!

Bandana babes:
I am such a visual learner. I seriously LOVE this idea of picturing a bandana, when I'm about to go off the wagon. Tie one around to keep both the dust and the excess out.
BRILLIANT: extra points all around!!!
-
Michelle - I am so sorry to hear about your grandpa and all the issues that you have to deal with.
-
Missing all my Rockin Robins!! Michelle I am so vey sorry to hear about your grandfather
but sister friend we are all crying with you and holding your hand in your time of need.
I am going to try and get back on the wagon... calling this week to make me an appt. with the weight doc in town. I'm sure some of you have heard of the wonderful Dr. Vitkin's weight loss clinic/plan. Well guess that's what I'm gonna do. After Monday I will have more labs so between my 2 doctor appts. hopefully they won't make me have blood drawn again. That's the part that I don't like. haha I have no veins. Personally I think it's stupid to have blood work draw anyway as they don't utilize it. They give you pills and fluid tabs which I already take and send you on your way after. I have done his program before many years ago. It will work if you work it.
It always seems like I'm coming on here saying I'm going to hop back on that wagon and so far not successfully. LOL!!! But for health reasons we all need to eat healthy and try to be healthy in every aspect of our lives, and this is just another way to do that.
-
Thank you everyone for you hugs and well wishes.
I have to admit that yesterday I literally napped the day away. I woke but hungry but with no food in the house and no inclination to cook so I ran to the store grabbed a frozen dinner and came home. This is the first frozen dinner I have had in a long time, I have been eating very little processed food and more fresh veggies/fruit/beans etc. Anyway long story short, I could not eat the dinner, it tasted like chemical crap! Wow I have come a long way... before my dx we ate frozen dinners and fast food all the time...
-
Michelle, I am sorry about your Grandpa. I know how special they are. I remember mine well. May your lovely memories help comfort you in your sorrow.
-
O2B, sorry about your Gpa. Look at the positive side, getting it all together keeps you busy and focused on something else. And it also says, good or bad, that people look to you as someone on whom they can depend.
I am thrilled at how you all share, the good and the bad, about the struggles with staying on track. I think it's all good though because it just keeps us aware of where we are and helps us to not get too far off track.
So, an extra point for all this week (I'm sure our leader, Meece, won't mind too much - and if she does, too late, everyone already has it - hehehe!)
-
Congratulations to Meece on your new grandbaby!! What a blessing.
