Pain/Venting Ahead
So the revision surgery was yesterday. Lifted both sides and lipoed the flanks. This was done as outpatient surgery. MISTAKE!!! OMG, I don't think I've ever experienced pain like that EVER! They sent me home w/Vicodin which as of last evening wasn't doing a damn thing. I was just getting ready to call it quits and go back to the hospital around 10 pm and my husband talked me in to taking 2 more Vicodin about a half hour early---mind you I am taking it every 4 hours. Luckily it cut the edge enough that I was able to make it through the night (on the couch). Felt like crap this am, but after some water, coffee and peanut butter crackers I was able to take another round of Vicodin and I seem to be just ahead of the pain, but obviously not totally pain free.
I knew this would be different than the other surgeries (mastectomy, DIEP reconstruction) but SHEESH, had I known it would get that bad I would have insisted on being admitted (although I know insurance wants you OUT ASAP). The difference for me at least was the pain pump in the other procedures. It definitely kept me out of the woods for the first 24 hours, which basically seems to be all I need. And the weird thing too is that everyone told me that lipo is extremely painful, but mine was DEFINITELY MUCH worse in the breast areas. Couldn't even really feel the flanks until today.
So, live and learn, and I am SUPER glad I'm alive to complain about it. I just am glad I have this place to let it all out.
Love,
Sharon

Ugh, Sharon, sorry it was so painful! I've heard the pain from lipo is just awful. Hope you feel better soon!
-
So sorry you're suffering or were suffering. Remember, if you're still having pain, call the dr and ask that they prescribe something else or something stronger.

I didn't have any revisions, so pain from lipo is unkown to me, but just pain in general is my bete noir. When I have had a toothache, I've been known to talk of suicide until I can get to the dentist
. So, I am sorry you had that much pain from your revision. It should have been a "happier" surgery since it is supposed to make you prettier. Feel better soon!

Thanks girls,
I seem to be on top of it today, although in discomfort. Ironically the lipo area isn't really all that painful, it's the breast surgery.
Anywhoo, doing better today and as always I appreciate your support!
XXOO,
Sharon

Hi Sharon,
I had the fat grafting surgery (mini lipo my surgeon called it), nipple recon and lift of radiated side 2 weeks ago. The areas where fat was taken were extremely bruised but not as painful as the lifted side -- I was in a lot of pain. But I wanted to reassure you -- it hasn't even been 3 weeks and I'm feeling very good -- even went for a run a couple of days ago (with 2 jogging bras on!).
You will be feeling good in no time -- just keep taking pain meds to get ahead of that pain. After a couple of days i switched to Ibuprofen, which kept the pain at bay. Best of luck!

Thanks girls,
I actually am feeling somewhat human again today, but not pushing it too much. I just wish they had warned me ahead of time about the first couple days so I could have mentally prepared myself. Physically the mx and the intial DIEP procedures were much easier, although of course I did have a pain pump for the first 24 hours.
Love you all,
Sharon
