which I tend to do easily so:) Please bear with me:)

Last Saturday I worked out very hard on my abs-doing side planks. Next day I got a slight pain/sensation on my right ab area.Through out the day I would get twinges or a feeling. It would hit and leave...Almost like phantom pains. It got better as the week went on and then Friday and Saturday it was completly gone. Yesterday I worked out very hard (ran in the morning 4 miles then swam 25 laps in the pool) came home still no pain. Now it's back... Not as bad but I am having slight twinges and it feels different in that area. ( its about 3 inches down past my rib) It wasn't that bad in the first place-like a 1 on a scale of 1-10 but it's there.

I am so scared...Its not a worsening pain but it only left for 2 days and is now back . When I sit down it gets a little worse.I also tend to hold my baby on this side. I am thinking all sorts of things like liver mets...

I am frozen with fear..This sucks!

OK, just relax! I would say if the pain came on after exercise, then it is probably bacause of the exercise!!

Take some OTC pain relief and then do only light exercise (like walking) for a few days. If you don't see any improvement or it is worsening, THEN you can freal out! It sounds to me like you have pulled a muscle, or even torn something. It doesn't sound like liver mets to me. I think you usually get symtoms like bloating and nausea.

I agree with Kerry- it sounds like a slight pull to the muscle or something like that! Take some Ibuprofen and I bet the pain will go away. I know what you are feeling -- anytime i feel pain in that area it's easy to get worried. But it really doesn't sound worrisome to me!

Breath in,  breath out.  Now rest. The others have given you some good advice.

I tend to freak out too.  Hand in there. NJ

jen, go back and read your post.  you are talking about exercise...improvement...more exercise...and  now this pain. your level of exercise is high; and your desire to "push"  every once and awhile; take a bit of break and let your body have some time off.  i agree with what the gals have suggested.  try to NOT to into "what if zone"...Frown..(i know easier said then done...we do get it)..see how it goes the next few days with some lighter work outs....and then decide what to do about it...ie..doc...

    hang in** take good care*

It sounds like you've over done it.  It just so happens to be in an area (liver) that scares you. Of course of the pain continues talk to your doctor, but I think some Aleve or Advil along with a heating pad and/or a hot soak in the tub will give you pain relief.  Also, take it easy for a few days or so, give it time to heal.

I agree with the above, I don't think it would get better it gets worse if it's mets, or so I've heard.  I've got a rib/ flank thing going on also and I can't use exercise as a reason.  Try not to let your mind run away from you and go into the dark side.

My onc said mets tends to be "wake you up in the middle of the night" pain that is always there and increasingly worse.  I'm sure that's not true for every case, as there is certainly no "one size fits all" in this mess, but that is my gauge.  Like the others, I'm sure it's just from the exercise.  Feel better!

Jen....I agree with the others....take a few deep breathes, something for the pain and think, its muscle strain or something similar...you will feel better....

Thank you guys so much:) Yesterday I took advil and just had a few twinges but no real pain. Today I have no pain just a slight twinge that I rubbed out. I am on pins and needles.. This little epiosde has set me off.... So I am going to assume that since the advil took the twinges away that is a GOOD sign?? Tks for all your support:)

    Jen,

Oh my gosh, this SUCKS doesn't it?  I am like you that whenever I get a new pain my mind immediately goes to that dark place.  But I agree with the other ladies, it sure sounds like exercise induced (good for you---I haven't gotten back in the groove yet).  So keep an eye on it and let us know how your'e feeling.

    Love you,
    Sharon
