edited June 2014 in Stage I Breast Cancer

Hi Ladies!

I joined BCO over a month ago but think I finally (at least for now) have a place where I belong.  I have been hanging out a little of everywhere, mainly lurking but posting on the humor forum now and then.

I am not here because of a personal diagnosis, but because of my Mom's recent diagnosis.  Although she was diagnosed over 6 weeks ago, she just today met with her surgeon for the first time.  We weren't sure of staging until today, so I didn't know which board to "latch" onto!

She as of right now is Stage I because of the size of her tumor and her lymph nodes taken thru a biopsy (tested as a result of enlargment) came back clean.

HOWEVER........she must have a CT scan done on her chest because a recent bout of pneumonia revealed a lung nodule.  The BS said she doesn't see any clear evidence that it is a metastasis but obviously won't rule it out just yet.  She said if anything it's more likely to be second primary, but she's confident the nodule is simply associated with her pneumonia.

So, again, for now she is Stage I and I hope she stays that way!  I also hope it is alright if I hang out and chat with you even though I am not the one with breast cancer.  I have been lurking since the day of her diagnosis and have really enjoyed all the posts and hope to get to know everyone!

Have a great day!

I am sorry your mom is going through this.  SHe is lucky to have you supporting her.  You will learn so much on this board and get the support you need to help her do all of this.  Best of luck and hugs!

    Thanks Maria!

Everything I know about breast cancer I've learned from this board, and I "look forward" to learning more.  In my opinion, you can learn more from other's personal experiences then a medical website listing typical and general applicability symptoms.

    Thanks for responding!
