I will be 5 years out in August and I feel so blessed that I have been healthy so far but I was in today for a 6 month check up and was told that the protocall is once you reach 5 years that you only need to be seen once a year. I was just switched from Tamoxifen to Arimidex a month ago and will be on that for 5 years. I am 45 and had ooph at 41. I know I should be celebrating this milestone and believe me I am trying but I am not ready to accept the once yearly check up. I will probably feel better about this after I have had some time to think about it. Please let me know what your follow up schedule is.

Congrats on 5 years! A huge milestone! I am almost 3 years out and see my onc every 6 months. He told me after year 5 it would be once a year, but  I would see my GP for a physical, so someone is seeing me every 6 mos. Maybe you could stagger those appointments?

My breast surgeon told me the same thing about yearly only check ups after 5 years.  But I also have to see my medical and radiation oncologists yearly too.  I plan to stagger all those visits when the time comes.

Thanks for the congrats. My surgeon retired so I dont see him or the rads onc. Maybe I will have to see my primary. I will still have a chest x-ray and labs so I should feel good about that. I was having an mri alternating every six months with a mammo but none of these test found my cancer so I dont have much faith in them. I guess I am just not ready to go it alone. I like the idea of a seeing my primary once a year so that s a good option. Thanks so much for your support. I dont post often but I know when I need to I will find the support here.
