hi ladies,

My onc just sent me a letter saying he's leaving the practice in July to move cross country (if I hear it correctly, his ex-wife and 2 daughters live in Cali.).

It feels sad, and a loss. although I don't see him often now, I feel such a bond to him!

I'm grateful that I had him throughout all of my active treatment --18 months of it-- and maybe a change will signal a new chapter.

Of course, then I worry about relapse, and this new doc being incompetent/uncaring/3 headed (lol)....looks like this new onc is literally brand new - he's still finishing his onc fellowship.

anyway, i knew you all would understand. trying to keep positive and not indulge in magical thinking or superstition (ie, cancer free living going out the door with the onc)!

hugs

janyce

Just met my new dr a few weeks ago, we're in the Army and my other onc was leaving for Germany.  I know how you feel and I was scared to meet my new one.  It went really well and I like her so far, good luck and I hope you find a great one.

a brand new "baby" onc is not necessarily a bad thing - they can be more enthusiastic, more caring, and more up-to-date with latest info than an "old" onc who's "been there done that" for too long...
