i have the eye problem teckler.i use contact rewetting drops they seem to work for a minute. but the dry eye onlt lasts for about 3 days like everything else it goes in cycles!!!
-
Merilee, hope you are feeling better soon! That sounded painful.
Teckler, I had dry eyes for a couple of days the last round, bought something the pharmacist recommended and they burned like hell! Went away after a couple of days. My dry nose with dried blood is more annoying than the eyes. It's amazing how many little things can go wrong with one body LOL!
-
Hi everyone.
It's a week since my 2nd AC and I've been lurking and reading but not posting.
Coped better this time around than the first infusion. They added MORE meds for nausea and it was an improvement!
Merilee - hope you better soon. Sounds painful.
Rangermom - thoughts are with you and your son.
I haven't had dry eyes but have got really dry peeling hands. I'm also eating like a horse! It's terrible I can't stop and I going to end up the size of a horse.
-
Hello everyone, my hair looked like it was growinng. 2nd A/C last wednesday. Yesterday huge falling out of the stubble - now bald in big patches.
-
Eating like a horse as well. So much for perishing LOL. It seems like the mechanisim in the belly that tells the brain I am full is on vacation. Craving protein which I never do. I am a fruit and veggie person normally.
-
Merilee, I craved protien big time after my first round. I would wake up starving and I am not a wake up and eat person. I think its probably the steroids because all I did was eat, like a baby every 3 hours I was hungry. hahaha... Tomorrow is round 2 (TCH) for me.
Anyone else?

Just doing a drive by checkin. It's been a while since I posted, but I've been reading along. A colleague of mine, who I worked with for most of my professional career, lost his battle with colon cancer a week and a half ago. The service was last Friday and I've been in a foggy daze since. It hit me really hard and I am having trouble shaking the funk. I've also picked up cold or something that has had me home yesterday and today. And I don't want it messing with this coming Monday's AC#3. Just a general booohiss in my direction. In-Laws come tomorrow and will be talking our son for the weekend, so we're hoping to do an overnight at a B&B somewhere (if we get off our tushies and make a reservation) and pretend I'm not bald and fighting stupid cancer. Hi, you can also call me Debbie Downer.
-
Carla,
I was thinking of you this morning and glad to see you back on. You were on my mind. Must have been all you have been going through with your friend ending this journey to take the next. I hope you can get away for that B&B. sounds just like what the doctor ordered.
-
Hi Carla. Nice to see you post.
You are certainly entitled to be down. I hope you can forget about things enough to enjoy your B&B getaway.
Back on the topic of eating. I'd feel healthier if I was craving protein Ginger. Personally I can't get enough carbs. All I want is bread, potatoes, rice etc. Not a particularly balanced diet! -
Well today is #3 so long as my blood work comes back ok. Never thought I would want to get chemo. I guess its more I want to get through it and get on with my life.
-
Carla, Hugs to you. I am glad to hear you will get a nice get away. For me the first few days I am off the steroids make me weepy and blue. I am countering it with Medicinal cannabis. It works.
-
Thanks ladies! I'm pulling through. Everything just takes longer to bounce these days. And I'd like to official banish menstruation from chemo regimes. Seems over the top to me.
On food...yes, I'm craving carbs like a lunatic. Right now, I'm chowing some pita chips because I really just want the carbs, but I'm smearing on a little hummus so I don't feel so badly about it. I have not scrolled back to see who mentioned the coconut water, but THANK YOU! Life saving. I grew up with coconut trees in my back yard, and love it so much. It is just the right thing and my DH ordered a case of young coconuts (9) from the health food store for me and they get here today!
Still curious about the getaway this weekend, we don't have any reservations yet. Guess we'll be last minute users of priceline or something!
Here's to a good day to you all, my sister warriors! So much inspiration in this group.

Hi All,
Had a shocking day. went in to get my bloodwork and I told the nurse bout my sore neck. Next thing I hear is you need a stat ultrasound. Then did that, found out I have a clot in my jugular and have to give myself injections for blood thinner and take coumadin. I guess its good that it got caught. Good news is I get to keep my port in which I'm thankful for, just need to stay n blood thinners till near time of my surgery. So everyone, take this warning from me if your neck hurts, your face gets swollen or your left arm is swollen, hot get it checked out immediately. I just thought I had a sore throat and thought nothing more. Pain started on Monday this week. God interviened for me and got me the help I needed. Stif Neck = Get it checked. Love to all,
LindaJ
-
Holy Shit Linda! I am so glad you are ok.
-
Rangermom, can i ask did your bloodwork come back with elevated platlets? just odd you had this experience today
reason i am asking because i had bloods done today too, mine very high and they are supposed to go down( but weird blood things can happen on chemo) but i see that clots or rather predisposition probalby are picked up with elevated platelets, often it is a sign. which worries me a bit cos have had a unusual headache for five days which i did tell them about and father died from aneuryism too...also goes with heart issues and did have one strange episode there too. apart from that, did pretty good on #1... my onc said monitor and if high next time then need to be followed up more closely..just feeling a little anxious that need to look into now rather than later

hi Carla, i mentioned coconut water..not that i want the credit! but just wanted to say that for me too it goes back a long way and have fond memories when my babies/kids were young we were working/living moving around the Philippines, sometimes in the countryside and often did not have access to water..so they were raised on coconut water, green coconuts with top cut off and either poured into bottle or when they were older straight from the coconut...they loved it, still do, it was excellent for dealing with childhood fevers in the tropics and is great way to rapidly hydrate. also sterile .Rosemary
-
and i meant safe water of course..
-
Rosemary! Thank you for the mention. He collected the case of 9 today and I'm holding on having one before bedtime, or I'll be up peeing all night.
RangerMom, I'm echoing Merilee's Holy Shit! I am so relieved that they found it and that you had the presence of mind to raise the flag for them to check you. My nurse keeps telling me that I have to call for any and every syptom and I have not been taking her seriously. I'm so glad that you do and that your team followed through. Praises that you're ok.
-
WOW!! rangermom!! thank god they found it!! and carla hang in there!! just smile when you think of your friend. it makes me laugh not cry when i think of happy times that i had with my parents or anyone else that i have lost. it makes it easier to do that for me but i try not to get down.. i know there is a bigger plan and only god knows it
going for #3 on monday and kinda worried that i have done really well so far ... just keep your fingers crossed!! thinking of all of you getting treatments this week, i think theres a few, night all
-
Haven't posted in awhile, but I've been reading the posts faithfully and thinking of you all, all the time, since we're all in the same boat. Only wish it was a different boat but so nice to have such great company.
OMG Rangermom! So sorry about the latest dilemma but so glad you found it right away.
Carla -- I hope you can find a nice getawa; I think you need it. Sometimes last minute things are the most fun.
I really wish I was craving the protein, but I'm on the damn carb-craving thing, too. I've really been trying to eat healthy since my diagnosis, but the chemo (or something?) has me craving the carbs like crazy.
I love the MetroMint water! Can't remember who recommended it -- think it might have been Merilee. It's very refreshing and helps with the yucky taste in the mouth.
I'm heading for A/C round 3 today and Neulasta on Monday. Hoping the SEs aren't too bad.
-
Hello all, Rangermom praise God for that being caught and thank you for sharing that we can all be aware
What is MetroMint and where is it found?
Had my 2nd round yesterday (TCH) woke up with a bright red face, chest and a little rash on my arms and belly slightly, anyone else? I had the red rash face on and off first time, but its more pronounced this time, and I shaved my head because I couldn't stand the hair EVERYWHERE in the house. I am going for my neulesta today so I will show it to them when I get there. Have a blessed day, all. Hugs and good days for us all
-
I had second round too yesterday ginger, and i have bright red face, and neck spreading down to chest...not really rash more like just rosy...and in my case, am 99% sure it is from the steroids...having neulasta today too and shaved head this morning as well...so we are in sync! rosemary
-
anybody have their white blood cell count go UP on chemo and out of range? and not from infection...just wondering if neulasta is necessary for us all...??
-
Ginger_mea: I found the MetroMint water at Publix, but that's a Florida store. It was hard to find; I had to ask several people before we finally found it in a weird location. Merilee is who recommended it, and she found it at Kroger and also said health food stores have it. There are different "coolness" levels to it, too. I love it. If you scroll back to May 3rd (page 19), you can read the posts about it.
-
Just checking in- round #3 done! I'm halfway there..goodie
-
Hooray Teckler!
-
Hi all. I've read your guys posts, they're informative and helpful. Wish I could respond to each one. I have been very exhausted, diarrhea, fungus, rash and don't feel much like doing anything. Could use a good laugh.
God bless

I had #3 yesterday and worked today. I came home and took a nap at 4 and woke up at 8:44 PM guess I was a little tired. My face was flushed most the day but I didn't feel feverish. Going to go back to bed sleep is best these next few days for me!
Rangermom -- thank goodness you are ok!
Hope everyone has a good start to the weekend!
Only one more AC to go for me!
Annie

Number 3 AC done for me, too. One more AC in 3 weeks and then on to Taxotere and radtiation. Felt pretty good after yesterday's AC, but I was really tired. Came home and slept for 2 hours (until the dog woke me up standing on me giving me kisses -- couldn't get mad at her, it was too cute). Seem to be feeling pretty good so far this morning, although it's a bit too early to tell.
Hang in there, everybody. I hope you have a good weekend.
