I have never lived in a tree house but I once had a 3rd floor apt that was in the trees out every window and I felt like I was living in a spa the whole time I was there.  It was really wonderful.

Wow, Chabba, those treehouses are really something!

Brigadoon, I'm sorry I haven't welcomed you yet but we're glad to have you here!  This thread is lots of fun and you really never know what to expect!

i feel the same "twist" in my heart, also. even though i believe he was evil, i don't rejoice, yet, i know he would never have stopped, and that if he was kept alive; others would've made him a living martyr. the burial at sea, is the same. if we could mark his grave, we would've had people constantly having vigils.. its the love the person, hate the sin , mentality. im ashamed to say; im jaded enough to say my heart isn't big enough to love the person; but i don't see that there WAS any alternative. and, i WONT negate the fact that the whole op was a wonderful feat for our country. its one of those damned if you do, damned if you don't situations. and i rejoice that the head is off the beast; but theres' still much of the body to deal with!       3jays

Thanks Chabba, I'll take the top one; just have the kit delivered to my PO Box...

I'll be lucky to get a couple steps, a plywood floor and a folding lawn chair... Hah!

That treehouse would make a great guest house...far enough away and not heated or A/C'd so they won't stay long.

A platform with a lawnchair sounds just right for having a beer.

I'll make sure there's room for a couple lawnchairs and a cooler - come on out! DH will be lucky if his summer honey-do list doesn't include that platform!

Right now he is fencing his new berry patch after the deer discovered it, and he is NOT happy, so maybe I should wait awhile before bringing up the subject. I'll just haul a ladder over there, and codge something together. It'll make him nuts and he'll come do it right....

There have been tree house stories featured on local Seattle programs.  One was about a resort, I think it was in Oregon, where you stay in tree houses.  The other was about an architect in Seattle that designs tree house homes.

The Wall St Journal just had another article about tree houses too - it seems there's quite an interest these days - folks are putting hot tubs & all in trees and calling it part of the green revolution. (not quite sure how to wrap my head around that one)

I was just laughing at myself since I live in the woods and have a redwood deck in a grove of trees already - but the view from up just a dozen feet or so and into the branches is certainly a different feeling.  I'm still mulling that platform and will let you know if it happens.

Right now we are planning a train trip in NoCal in a month or so - there's a daylight dinner train out near Shasta, with a dome car, and  I am really looking forward to that.

Wow, that sounds like fun! DH and I did a day trip on the Verde Canyon RR in AZ. It was a beuatiful ride. They served canapes and had a bar and we saw bald eagles and other wildlife. Very cool.

Barb, the AZ train sounds like fun too!  There's a company out of Reno called Trains & Travel that plans train excursions all over - we are just beginning to explore the possibilities.

but are saving our pennies and considering a 10-day east coast fall-color train trip they advertise, that we want to extend to like a month and do some of our (huge) east coast bucket... more like a water trough of things we want to see "back east".... MAYBE next year, 2012....

my big hangup is finding someone to housesit and mind the dog.  He's wonderful, but not boardable. Hoping to talk SIL into it; maybe find some way to sweeten the deal for her....

I think we should all eat Eaton Mess in the tree house to celebrate the great job our soldiers did.

I had my new chemo today and even though I know it can take days for any reactions or SEs I am feeling very good and just so happy it is over....I am ok once I get started on something, it's just the anticipation and worrying about what it might do that get to me.  I got the full dose of steriods in the premed so imagine I will be hanging out with the insomniacs tonight.

I want to go to Florida, it looked so warm.

We have just had our fireplace fixed as winter is coming on and like most old houses here we do not have central heating - but we do have gas heaters in many rooms. I think NZers thought it was wasteful to heat more than one room of a house at a time.

Must go and pick up the car.

There are advantages to living in a tropical clime. But when it gets cold you FREEZE since you are not used to it. When I have to travel for work, I had to go to Vermont in January, Are you kidding me? The temp was 3 degrees when I arrived at the client at 9AM. Have to do it but don't like it. That was back in my smoking days so at 6AM I was out puffing in -10 degrees. So glad I quit.

Wow! I am gone for a few days and there is so much to catch up on.  Marybe - {{{{{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}}}}} and I like the idea of eating Eton Mess in the treehouse to celebrate our soldiers and the wonderful job they do of protecting our freedom.  Barb - so glad you quite smoking so you don't have to stand out in the cold to have a smoke anymore.  I know how you hate to be cold!

I had such a good time in NYC the last few days. Karin (DesignerMom) and I had such a good visit.  We really think we are truly sisters.  She has a wonderful DH that takes good care of her and an amazing son.  I so enjoyed my time there with them.  I think I may plan another trip to surprise her sometime. She had a Mother's Day Sale with a couple of her friends and they are so talented. One with her paintings and the other is a Master medalist that designs the most amazing jewelry.  Then DM has all of her baby items and now she has started a line of natural soaps, creams, lotions, body washes.  They are all natural and have the most wonderful scents that do not overpower you and do not compete with any other fragrance you want to use.  She uses the natural essential oils, so the smell evaporates quickly but is so wonderful to relax, energize, uplift, or wake you up in the morning. They are so moisturizing with out feeling greasy, Can you tell I just love them?  DM will be putting them on her on-line store soon.  The sale was so good and she learned which of the scents do well and which ones she does not need to make a bunch of and which ones need to be tweaked a little bit.  I love NYC and managed to get around just fine even with a lot of walking.  I hope all of you get a chance to meet her and find out how sweet and kind she is. We got in a little shopping, since I forgot my jacket and the food was fabulous.  I tried some new things and some I really liked and some were okay, but not my favorites.  I am glad I am back home.  My DH just woke me up to ask if I wanted to go to bed since I have been asleep for 2 hours in my chair.  There was a long delay for my flight home today and it is tiring to sit in am airport all day.  Was supposed to leave at 11 am and finally left at 1:20pm.

Amy Jo, Sounds like you had a great time and I'm so glad you got away! Glad you and DesignerMom got together too.  I've only been to NYC two times in my entire life but I absolutely loved it!  Nice to have you back, too.

I'm up. Chrissy, how's your DD? Healing ok, being patient? And DH, is he ok?

I had breakfast with my DB today, and enjoyed his company; any time spent with my bro is good time, and so it was a good day.

While in town, I got the fixin's to make Eton Mess. Barb, I'd never heard of it before (no culture), but we will be eating it soon -- I looked up the recipe and it doesn't look all that difficult, just yummy!

DH + a friend spent another day working on deer-proof fencing for a patch of berries and perennials. We have plans for some cooking herbs & a row of asparagus, and maybe a few artichokes. Soon, we'll plant tomatoes, peppers, corn &c. We had a long winter, and short spring. Dogwoods are blooming at our elevation. Glorious. Days are mild, nights still cool, and everything is still green.

Joni, we used to live over on the Umpqua side, past Shady Cove on the way to Canyonville and in Douglas Co. About 20 miles past the boonies. We also enjoyed the Rogue River, and rafted on it several times...

So Lost_Creek, where are you now?  I love rafting the Rogue thru the wild & scenic section altho it's been a # of years since that happened!
