swollen feet
Thank you everyone for your support, I received my results from my pet scan after completing chemo. My 8cm tumor is completely gone no cancer in nodes. They said i am completely cancer free from what the scan says. Working towards double bisectomy may 19th. Maybe you can help me, agter completing taxol now for 2 weeks, my feet and ankles feel like there getting swollen. Has anyone experienced that and what did you do about it ? oh by the way i still take herceptin once every 3 weeks now

Alexandra,
I didn't have swollen extremities when I was going through treatment, but I remember the Oncologist was always checking my feet and ankles, so you should give his/her office a call just for peace of mind. Congratulations on being cancer free and completing chemo! Whooo Hooooo!
Good luck with your upcoming surgery. You are almost done!
Hugs

My ankles where cankles by the time I was done with Taxol. It took weeks for them to go back to normal. I think I was 4 weeks out from Taxol and I ran into my onc nurse in the hallway (radiation..no appt with dr) and pointed to my ankles and said "really? normal? when can I see ankles and not cankles?" She said it was very normal and it could take weeks more for my ankles to appear.
So, that said...it's normal. But, call them so they are aware of what is going on.
Congrats on being done with chemo!

Unfortunately, I've never had real ankles. I was born with cankles, so if I had the swelling, that would be another reason I wouldn't notice it. Apple, you always crack me up....

My ankles and feet swelled so much towards the end of weekly taxotere that I could not wear normal shoes. Amazingly, the swelling occurred over a six hour period and took a couple of weeks to diminish. My oncologist prescribed a diuretic (I think that it was called Lasix. At least that sounds like the right name. My spelling may be wrong) and it took another ten days to two weeks for my feet and ankles to resemble anything close to normal. Unfortunately it was winter and wearing boots was a real problem. Fortunately I owned one pair of oversized hiking boots which I wore with really thin socks. Plus, I had been warned about the swelling so I bought a pair of Birkenstock clogs before starting treatment. Those were the only shoes/boots that I could tolerate for about 3 1/2- 4 weeks.
Hang in there and good luck.
Sue
