ovaries out/stopped Tamox/ OUCH!

hey all--

my ovaries are coming out on wednesday and my surgeon had me stop taking Tamoxifen a week prior (also aspirin, fish oil) --I swear I am having tamoxifen withdrawal-- cramps, shakey, feel like I'm getting the flu! Can't really find anything about this on line and of course Dr's office closed for holiday weekend....

    Plus-- even more fun-- I have to fly to SF on sunday to give a speech and fly back monday --was NOT expecting to feel this miserable!!

    my surgeon said no need to stop the tamox before my TAH/BSO; but it probably is a good idea because of the clot risk anyway. I didn't feel any different at all when I went off tamox (at thet end of the 5 years); I don't think the symptoms you're describing are common. You may be actually coming down with something----keep an eye on it, they may need to delay your surgery, if you are.

    Oh, Christine, sorry you are feeling yucky. My surgeon didn't take me off tamox either before my ooph, just gave me a shot of blood thinner.

    Anyhow, maybe it is just a flu??  Hope you feel better for your trip. Does tylenol or advil help?

    Good luck with the Surgery! You'll feel better with those babies out of you.  Let us know how you get on.

    Christine, that is exactly me in a few weeks and I'm dreading coming off of the Tamox.  I had to once before and I swear I went through withdrawl and then when I restarted went through the whole several month phase of getting used to severe symptoms with the restart.  Sorry you're dealing with a work trip on top of it. Good luck with surgery, keep us updated with how you are doing

    Cristine, cannot help you with Tamox, just wishing you speed recovery. My ovaries and tubes are going out on Wednesday, too. I was diagnosed last May and have not had any cold/flue up until a week ago. I am wandering if they would cancel my surgery as I am so congested right now.
