Anyone watching Season 10 of American Idol?

Casey stoled the show with Steven, Randy, and Ryan taken back by his bold and risky move on J Lo.
-
Not crazy about Casey, don't know why..........love scotty, although I did not see him tonight, but in the redo at the end I wasn't crazy about the song................I think Jacob missed the mark tonight although I do love that song..............James screamed his usual song, but he is still g;ood even though not my cup of tea..........Would love to hear him sing a real ballad......I think Jacob or Haley tomorrow night.,
-
I could only kind of listen to it in the background....it seemed like kind of a blah night all around. Will watch on DVR at home.
OK...it was odd to have the recently dismissed people on so soon.
Scotty was ok.
James....I like the drummers!!!!
-
Hi girls...missed our show completely...have no clue what went on besides that there is a chance Jacob is going home... I will be back in full force next week. Hope you missed me,
-
James Durbin was stupendous! I turn on our speaker system to listen to AI. Tonight I could hear the wounderful quality in James Durbin's voice. He is wildly talented. I am not a Scotty fan but I am certain he is a wo nderful young man who sings a genre I don't listen to.
I dug out a photo of me from another site to put up on another thread to show my original hair. I realized you all might get a giggle from it so here goes.
Yes, that's Constantine Maroulis. He is a wonderful musical theatre singer. Too bad they portrayed him as a rocker on AI. When he sang Bohemian rhapsody on AI it showed his considerable theatrical range. He is also a good person too.

Wow, good photo. Lucky girl!
I found Lauren very boring last night. Scotty needed to pick a better song too. James was rock solid and Haley's song choice was perfect for her. I am done with Jacob and Stefano, although both were 'okay' last night. Casey was great but he is all over the map for me. Is that everyone? Well, if I missed someone, they obviously didn't leave much of a impression on me. LOL
-
I agree about Lauren, someone light a fire under her, she could, mind you I said could, be as big as Carrie Underwood.
-
Agree, last night was just an ok night........I don't think anyone stood out.........and yes Casey is all over the place. I just wish I could see what the judges think is so great about him..........Am I missing something?..........James is very talented, just can't handle the screaming..........Didn't hear Scotty's whole song, just caught the redo, but was not impressed with what I heard.
I do think Jacob is going home based on what was said last night by the judges... As long as I have been watching this, I just realized last night that the judges have a say in who comes back........Tom said "The scores combined with the judges, and America's vote"...........Where have I been all these weeks. Now I can kind of understand their shock when someone they like gets voted off by America.............
-
Now that ducky mentioned it... I guess I have no idea what actually goes into who goes home. I thought it was just the votes... I'll have to do some poking around... Interesting!
Found this on Yahoo News from yesterday.... Still doesn't really say what counts toward who goes home but, addresses the obvious skew in voting based on WHO is voting!
Seems that when this season is over there may be some changes to the voting...
"American Idol" producers said on Wednesday they are considering tweaking the voting system on the top-rated TV contest to correct a bias toward male contestants by the show's largely female audience.
But any changes are unlikely to take effect this season, which has already seen the early exit of four female finalists, including presumed front-runner Pia Toscano.
"We are aware very much that the voting could quite possibly be skewed toward the boys," executive producer Ken Warwick told reporters in a conference call.
"It is something we are going to have a long discussion about after we finish this season. We won't be in the process of changing anything at the moment. It is going to go the way it goes," Warwick said.
Warwick said reality TV shows like "American Idol" traditionally attract predominantly female viewers, who then tend to drive telephone, text and online votes toward male contestants.
That bias has resulted in a male singer being crowned the "American Idol" and winning a recording contract, every year since 2008. Jordin Sparks in 2007 was the last woman to win.
Paul McDonald last week became the first man to be booted off the most-watched U.S. television show, leaving just two women -- Haley Reinhart and Lauren Alaina -- in the running for a shot at reaching the finale in May.
Warwick said one of the changes under consideration was allow the three judges -- Jennifer Lopez, Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson -- to vote each week. The judging panel on ABC's popular "Dancing with the Stars" TV contest have their votes counted along with those of viewers.
"Just one of ideas on the table is to let the judges vote," Warwick said, but added, "I am pretty sure we won't be putting anything into practice until next year."
Ballad singer Toscano, 22, was eliminated on April 8, moving Lopez to tears and stunning the 25 million strong "Idol" audience.
"American Idol", now in its 10th season on Fox television, has produced bona-fide stars like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, and Oscar-winning actress-singer Jennifer Hudson.
But in recent years, the public has chosen white, male middle of the road singers as the champion, although few have been able to translate their victory into top-selling albums."

JO-5
You're probably dead on!
-
NaughtybyNature,
I was worried that you got plucked for a feather pillow.
-
I think Stefano will be going tonight. My top 3 are still Lauren, Scotty, and Jacob.
Anne
-
Here's the order I ranked the performances last night....
James, Casey, Haley, Stephano, Scotty, Lauren, Jacob
Tonight might be the end of the road for Jacob.
-
NaughtyByNature,
Of COURSE we missed you.... Are you going to be around tonight or do you have a date with the vampires?
-
My ranking from last night...
Going to go with... hmmmm
James, Casey, Lauren, Haley, Stephano, with a toss up between Scotty and Jacob. I think because Scotty has been such a popular performer, it will be Jacob that goes. Although the actual results will probably look nothing like this!
-
I thought James was so good last night .. loved the drummers.
I wish Scotty and Jacob would go home .. they get on my last nerve.
It's always such a big surprise who gets sent home. I missed Paul last night and wish he could have stayed longer!

I will be tuning in tonight for sure because David Cook is performing his new single The Last Goodbye. I've been a fan of his every since he won Season 7 of AI. I've been to 3 of his concerts and met him. He is such a humble and caring person. He has been touched personally by cancer when he lost his older brother, Adam, to brain cancer back in May 2009. He also works alot in support of cancer causes. I can't say enough about David and all the wonderful people that I've met because of him. He has such great fans and I've made some really nice friendships.
If there are others out here on the boards that are David fans, I'd sure like to meet you.

Seaside Memories - I just WISH the contestants had picked the songs you chose! It would have a been a great show then, but I think they all picked the WRONG SONG again. Poor, poor Lauren - she even had Jimmy Iovine telling her to her face to just let it all go, girl! She said she was going to do that last night, and I didn't notice a single difference in her performance. She usually gets going towards the end of a song anyway, and that's what she did last night but the poor little thing needs to start seeing herself as the next Kelly Clarkson. I really think she's better than any of them as far as versatility goes - they all, of course, have their strong points - but Lauren can do it all.
Did any one else notice Lauren's brief flicker of, I don't know, like she was going to faint, after Ryan finished talking to her and as he was introducing the final run-through performance montage? It was like a "so scared she was going to throw up" kind of moment. I DVR'd it so I was able to play it back so if any of you ladies still have it recorded, go look at that! You can really see how truly scared she is.
I'm not a huge fan of Jacob's, but when I heard what song he picked I thought he was going to nail that, plus it's such a great song. But maybe it was too hard for him personally to let his feelings show - I know if it had been me I would have been sobbing through the whole song - so I guess he had to hold back, but it wasn't good at all.
Haley is growing on me, but I agree with whoever said that they like to understand the lyrics, for crying out loud. I told my son that about Haley from the very beginning - she slurs and growls so much that you can't make out the words. I don't think she's going home yet, though - at least I hope not.
I also do not see what everybody sees in Casey. He has a great personality - and that's a big plus - but I don't know how much vocal range he has since all of his songs have pretty much been within a few notes. He's very much a niche market, not an AI.
James is cute, and sweet, and has that little boy quality that all mothers love, but I don't like so much screaming in a song. Like my son said - maybe if James had just held the screaming parts for a beat or two, not 10 long seconds, it would have been better. He just overdoes it, IMO. After seeing that youtube, with his capacity for being so loud, I bet HE would be good on Broadway.
Stefano, Stefano, Stefano - please stop with the ballads! He's cute, but very boring. I thought it was cute how he was so proud of himself for strutting around, and I like how earnest he is being in trying to follow the judges' recommendations, but his movements are awkward, like Pia's. But with the young girls voting, I'm sure they love him so he is probably safe tonight.
I was very disappointed in Scotty's song choice. I hope he makes it through, though. It would have been awesome if he did Johnny Cash's "Hurt".
My wild guess for who may be going home tonight - Jacob, based on his performance of a beautiful song. I think he just held back too much.
-
Thanks for the info, dsil!!
I don't know how I missed when they announced that David Cook will be a guest tonight... Yay!!
Oh, but so will Katy Perry... Sorry NatureGrrl and Seyla..lol .. Can't say I'm a fan either!
Edited to add: NatureGrrl glad to see a post from you! I was hoping everything was OK with you! We miss you over on "What's for dinner"!
-
I am new to this discussion, but I love James and Casey and Scotty. Scotty's song choice was pretty bad last night, the judges were right he needs to step it up a notch! James will probably get a record deal no matter what ( so will Scotty )! Casey it just fun to watch and he is a helluva musician, which I admire. Looking forward to the results - Jacob may be leaving............
-
My bottom three, based solely on last night's performance, are Jacob, Stefano and Lauren.
Lauren really needs to step it up, and I think Stefano has done as much as he can do (although he is a cutie.)
LOVED James and Casey!

Seaside, hug! I sprained my ankle almost 3 weeks ago, slowly improving but it put a damper on my spirits (why??? in the overall scheme of things, no big deal! but it got me down for some reason) and I'm getting tired of hobbling around, so I just haven't felt very chatty on the boards. I'm so far behind on the dinner thread, it's going to take me forever to catch up with everyone! But I will be back! (I haven't been cooking hardly at all, either, to stay off my ankle).
Last night: nothing really exciting to me.
Scotty. I try very hard to like him each week but I just don't. I agree with everyone who thinks he has a great voice. And I liked that he used his more natural voice this week, instead of using the big deep fake voice. But beyond that... I just see nothing there to like much. I agree with who ever said he seems fake. That half-smile and eyebrow wiggling are just plain smarmy. When he gives a natural, full smile he looks very genuine and real, but the rest of the time I feel like I'm looking at a cheesy guy in a bar or a used car salesman. And I was glad the contestants poked at the way he holds his mike, because that has seemed artificial to me all along. Very distracting.
James. Good control. Didn't care a lot about the song but I did like what he did with it and thought he was great. He's going to be in the top this week.
Haley. I actually liked her this week a lot (I usually do like her but liked her more this week than some). But I'm thinking bottom 3. Teenyboppers won't vote for her.
Jacob. Sweet and powerful. But, bottom 3 this week. He's just not an AI.
Casey. I liked him last week a lot (although many didn't) (I love the song he did but I'm a 40's music fan, along with a lot of other genres). This week, though, really not my thing. I do know why the judges like Casey in general but last night I was lost over their praise. I think his style is too mature for a lot of the younger voters so I'm not sure how much farther he can make it.
Stephano. I do think he's grown each week, and I think the teenies will find him cute and sexy and he'll get the votes to stay out of the bottom 3. I think he's getting some good coaching and really using it and does improve.
Lauren. Like her a lot but this wasn't my favorite week for her.
So.... my bottom three: Jacob, Haley, and.... Lauren or Casey. Not that those are who I want to see in the bottom three (that would be Scotty, Jacob, and Stephano).
I like one of Katy Perry's songs, but that's it, and there's just something about her that leaves me bored. So I may be flipping channels tonight
I'll PM you, VickiSam!
-
NaughtybyNature......Yes and yes we did miss you last night.
David Cook my favorite AI winner. I'm so glad he is singing.
IMO Jacob should go home tonight.
Stefano is cute reminds me of David Archiletta (sp). Why the young girls aren't voting for him???????????
Maybe another surprise elimination like Pia who knows?????????

Just read this about last night.... lol
Titled : "American Idol - Steve Tyler's F-Bomb -- Talk This Way?
At this point, no one should be all that surprised. Rock stars curse. But when it happens on American Idol, typically thought of as a bastion of family-friendly programming, and comes out of the mouths of judges Steven Tyler and Randy Jackson, it stops the show.
"Casey, man, you already are a cult hero," Tyler told Casey Abrams, who earned the judges' one and only save a few weeks ago and whose rendition of Maroon 5's "Harder To Breathe" impressed Tyler. "I mean, there's millions of people in America that are really angry because you pissed them off because you're so f---king good. You changed so many people's minds. I love you."
"Steven, Steven," interrupted Jackson, mimicking Tyler, "because he's so f---king good?" Jennifer Lopez was still looking at Tyler in astonishment. "The wheels have fallen off this program," said host Ryan Seacrest.
But here's what you didn't see when they finally cut to commercial: Led by executive producer Nigel Lythgoe, who raised his arms to the heavens, as if to say, "What was that?" a gaggle of nervous producers and network executives descended on the set in five seconds flat.
Then Lythgoe, trying not to laugh, got down on his knees in front of the judges' table, right in front of Tyler, and put his hands together in prayer, begging him to behave. Joining Lythgoe were Fox alternative programming chief Mike Darnell and executive producer Cecile Frot-Coutaz. They've got the tape-delay technology to deal with language like this. But they also know that it's not that hard to read lips. Even the camera operators were laughing. "Did you hear that?" asked one cameraman. "They're gonna have to bleep him big time." Said another camera operator, "There's a dead man in the control room right now, probably had a heart attack, and they're drawing lines around his body."
For his part, Tyler looked undisturbed, as if he couldn't understand what all the fuss was about. His two assistants arrived with the usual bag full of snacks - Tyler munches on junk food during commercial breaks - and hairspray to control his carefully arranged head of waves. He behaved for the rest of the night.
-
I always feel left out of the loop when a judge or judges are bleeped. Silence isn't funny.
-
25 minutes and counting
-
AND.. GO!
-
Lauren looks so pretty with the new hair do♥
-
David Cook is amazing as always!!!
-
(((David Cook)))
He rocks and some more...........
