Another confession... The world's best chocolate pudding at dd12's b'day dinner tonight. There I go, making exceptions! But back on the train now.

Today was not a good behavior day. But it was intentional, not inadvertent like so much of my sugar consumption usually was... But still...

It's my understanding that a small amount of dark chocolate is beneficial for your health.

I'm obsessed with chocolate this week... I baked a fabulous chocolate cake for my twins birthday and seems I'm eating more of it than they are!

Any suggestions on how to walk away :)

funny but when I'm not on Tamoxifen I can take it or leave it ..?

Yes it does, but so does every lamp, appliance, tv, computer, fridge, microwave in our homes, and actually if you want you can get under the bed a pull the plug once you put your sleep number into the chamber, but I'm not about to do that...............Ever use a heating pad, what is worse then that..........Electricity is everywhere, but at least if its true what they say about springs in mattresses (and I doubt it is) at least I'm on air and foam.........

I agree with Lilah.  I only posted about the mattresses to make you laugh - not worry.

I came across this article this morning.  I also saw Dr Oz's show about sugar.  I thought he could have devoted a lot more time to the subject to really educate people.  But alas, it isn't my show.

Re mattress: I slept on a water bed for over 10 years.  They have electric heaters to keep the water warm.  Sure felt great!

@molly: hilarious! i am so gullible sometimes.

yesterday was awful: i ate waaaay 2  many dark chocolate hershey's kisses. even as i sat there, knowing it was bad for me and recognizing that addictive "turn on" - seriously, when i compare it to heroin, it's funny but also true!

anyway, back on the wagon today. and thank goodness Easter is at my sister in law's: she always skimps on dessert and carbs...and i'm hoping to avoid Easter baskets for my kids, since they don't believe in the Easter bunny anymore (13 and 10).

hope you all have a good day!

    Ducky,

    7 years?

I think you got that wrong!   I was told it lasted a LIFETIME by the people in my family!!!  lol

As a matter of fact, my aunt is in her 70's and had her first colonoscopy last month...she actually asked the Dr if he saw all that bubble gum she swallowed as a kid....um, she was SERIOUS!

She also believes we never landed on the moon.  So there ya go.

Dr Oz was talking about sugar again today.  It seems to be a recurring topic lately.

OMG someone offered me a donut at work today, and I couldn't pass it up.  Ok, so if anyone's noticed it started with my dd11 baking brownies a few nights ago and I broke down and had one. Then the chocolate pudding which tasted like soft fudge yesterday.  Then a donut today.  One more confession, I have a piece of vegan carrot cake in the fridge from my favorite place to get it.

I point this out just to demonstrate what a slippery slope making exceptions is.

Today I thought, perhaps the best thing is to allow myself ONE sugar treat per week.  I don't know.  Is 100% avoidance the only way to conquer the sugar monster for me?  I plan to have that darn cake tonight and start fresh tomorrow.  Ho hum.  I had gone about 8 days or 9 with success, then a (pms-related) breakdown!

    Xmas,

I've read that if you must have sugar, have it in the morning with some protein so your blood sugar doesn't spike and crash and so your body has time to burn it off.  I'd be having cake for breakfast!!

xmasdx, I am allowing myself one cheat day a week.  During the week both my husband and I are avoiding sugars but on Saturdays we are allowing ourselves to have whatever we want.  The first week we did this, we both binged like crazy on Sat and we were both sick. the following Sat we decided in advance what we would have and stuck to it, no additional sugars other than what was planned.  That seems to be working well, everything in moderation and it makes things alittle easier for me, knowing that on Sat I can have whatever I want without guilt.  Now if my daughters would stop asking to bake cookies during the week I wouldn't be as tempted, sometimes I have no self control!

Been buying snacks for the kids that I don't like, this way its not hard for me to say no when they feel like sharing.

    Twinmom,

Thats actually a really good idea.  Bill Phillips does that in his book "Body For Life" which I LOVE!!  It was the first book I used to start lifting weights and the diet part of it made so much sense and was so easy to follow!!

It allows one cheat day a week.  Anything you want.  All day.  At first I looked forward to that free day with all my heart....I ate donuts for breakfast, sausage...you name it....by the 4 th week, the 4th free day....I was over it...sometimes I'd FORGET my free day...lol

TonLee, I forgot you follow body for life, great book and great products from EAS.  Phillips and his people do a lot of research and are ahead of the times.
