Anyone watching Season 10 of American Idol?

Naughty,
The teen years with our children are really rough! Everytime we 'think' we've taught them well they surprise us with how little they have learned and how self centered they can be! It DOES get better.... eventually!
In the meantime, you just sigh and try not to kill them..lol!

Clay Aiken sang Bridge Over Troubled Water when he was in the competition and it was incredible. Jakob was good but, I agree, not as thrilling as when Clay sang it.
I also agree that Scotty should have sung that first song -- a MUCH better choice than the one he sang (which didn't do much for me).
Paul surprised me -- he was very good tonight. How is it possible a guy can have a white suit AND a black suit with flowers all over both and get away with it?
Casey made a choice, I think, that said: I know I'm going so I'm going to sing the song I want to sing. That said, I have to say I liked his performance but feel that he will not go over big with the tweens who do the mega-voting.
Lauren does sing so well -- she did good tonight but she needs to push it up a notch, somehow, in terms of emotional connection. I would say the same is true for Haley... who I am still waiting to see do another unbelievable BENNY AND THE JETS type of performance.
Stefano was very good for Stefano but IMHO is still Stefano
James was great.

Watching this on DVR after work
OK...I am watching...I thought Paul's song was in the wrong key or off beat or something. I was surprised the judges liked it.
I thought Lauren was pretty good....still not in luv with her....I don't know why
I must admit I love the song Stefano sang....it was probably my favorite performance by him...I kind of thought he even looked cooler...good for him...
Scotty...I agree he should have done the first song....the one he picked did not show his voice off as well
Casey....I kind of get why he likes that song. At least it wasn't the over the top wierd Casey. (I am embarassed I didn't know it was not from Moulin Rouge.)
Hailey....not my favorite song for her...but I think her voice is fabulous, and she is kind of unique...Randy agrees...she looked pretty tho.
Jacob....I love Jacob...(I would have liked to hear him sing "you will never walk alone" Elvis rocked it) but he was good on this too...go Jacob....
ok creshedos and inuendos...that was kind of funny Steven Tyler
Go James!!!!!!! That was kind of great...not really my type of music...but good for him
-
I am just now watching on DVR.
I thought Paul was ok....I love Bob Seger, but not sure Paul did it justice.
Lauren- I agree with others on here. She sang great, but she needs some more power. If she would just belt out that voice of hers, she could go far.
Casey- I am a fan, but I wish he would have sang "In The Air Tonight".
Scotty- He sang the song well. But, as soon as I saw it was movie week, I knew he would pick the George Strait song. I love that song, but he's becoming too predictable. I think he should have sang his first choice to show his range.
Haley- I didn't think she did that bad. I thought she sounded good, but she has done better. She did look hot though.
Jacob- I thought he sang beautifully. I am glad they convinced him to sing that instead.
Stefano- did better, but as Lilah stated he is still Stefano though. I almost feel sorry for him, because he does sing great, but he just is missing something.
James- He did awesome. I am not a fan of the song choice, but I still am rooting for him. I am not sure how that song will do with the popular vote though. I didn't know James was married. Have they shown his wife at all? I haven't noticed. I was married at 20 and had a son, and I can empathize with him. Life is def. hard. Especially now with the crappy economy. I am glad he has AI to help him get on his feet and hopefully become a big star.
It wasn't the best week for everyone, but I am still entertained, so I guess that's all that matters. Last week was much better.
-
Seaside Memo :-) .... Thank you so much for the detailing -- James and his life. I do not recall ever seeing his wife .. Altho, I recall James pointing to his wedding ring, declaring his pledge and love for his wife or girlfriend -- I recall him saying, I'm committed, or taken?
I LOVE James and his performance last night was outstanding!
I am a little worried about Lauren -- she appears to be frighten, scared and ready to break. I want to ask myself and the judges, is this too much for a 16, or 17 year old? The pressure ...

Poor Lauren - somebody needs to give her better advice (someone like the judges?). She needs to stop holding back so much when she sings, and yes she does look like she's about to crack. If she can toughen up and really push herself, she could win it all. BUT...she is a girl, and I've read that most of the teeny-boppers that are voting are girls and they always fall for one of the guys.
Casey was just too weird for me last night. He can put that kind of stuff on his album, but when you've got one shot at pleasing the public, you've got to hold back on "educating America", and try to put something out there the voters can identify with. At LEAST for a few more times....then be as weird as you want, but if you're in a competition you've got to conform somewhat.
Of course, James didn't conform. I think you should respect someone like Jimmy Iovine, respect their opinion, their input. So James did it his way, and it wasn't horrible, but it wasn't singing so much as yelling and it wasn't really interacting with the audience - it was a stage show with lots of flashing lights. You really can't get intimate with the audience with a lot of banging and booming, but I'm sure he'll be back. Maybe next time he will actually sing something and "speak" to the audience. I agree with Steven, I think James just wanted to get that out of his system. The guitarist was WOW, though! Some say Scotty has not shown a lot of range - I think James is really in that category, too. And I love rock, and I'm not a country music fan - I just see a similarity there, and between the two of them I think Scotty has more talent, IMO.
My guess for the bottom three: Stefano, Paul, and Casey or Haley.
-
Heartnsoul -- I agree with you. Stefano, Paul and Casey are likely for the bottom three. BUT I think that Stefano really does appeal to the young girls ... so it's possible he will squeak out of the bottom... in which case you may be right about Haley. But, as someone else said gosh there are only 2 girls left and I'd like to see them hang in there a little longer.
-
My bottom 3 picks for tonight are Paul, Casey and Haley. Of course, I'm probably wrong as usual!
-
LOL Bonnie
-
My bottom 3 picks for tonight are Casey, Jacob, and Haley.
-
Hello girls-I'm new, but love that someone else is watching AI! I only have one other friend that watches it, so everyone else I talk to about it thinks I'm crazy. Maybe because I'm 40 and I love the show?
I'm a huge fan of Casey, so I sincerely hope he isn't in the bottom 3.
My absolute favorite is James, and I'm pretty sure he will do well.
If I had to pick the bottom 3 it would be Paul, Haley and Stefano, even though I think Stefano is super cute.
-
I am hoping it is Paul that goes. Or Stefano. I think the others deserve another chance.
-
Stefano IS super cute, and he's growing on me and maybe he's growing on all those teenage girls that do all the voting, but it doesn't matter what he sings he still sounds the same week after week. He could take a rock song and it would sound the same! And I wouldn't buy his record over Michael Buble's. The poor guy is just not exciting - sort of like the male Pia!
And welcome to the thread - I know what you mean, nobody I know is watching this, either. It's just a fun, lightweight, entertaining kind of show and we could sure use more of those in the world today.
-
Oh and...(insert sad face here), I won't be able to watch the show tonight because I'm getting my hair colored. Yea! It's finally long enough to get colored and a decent cut (last chemo was July 15, but my hair has grown back extremely slowly).
Anyone know of a website where I can watch the replay? Maybe my 16 year old will know...
-
I agree with what most everyone is saying! Although I am a Casey fan as well and I hope he isn't in the bottom three. I thought Lauren did a great job last night.
My guess for the bottom three tonight is Paul, Jacob and Stefano.
I don't think Jacob sings as much from the heart as he did in the beginning because he is afraid of scaring off the audience and is listening to other peoples guidance. I now find him boring that he doesn't seem to totally lose himself in a song. I like Paul when he sings soft, not the rock thing like last night. Stefano I have always been able to take or leave, just not my kind of thing I guess.
Although I love Haley, I didn't like her song choice last night. I like her when she is all blues and jazzy, yet I don't think it will be enough to put her in the bottom three.
I love the fact that every year this is the one show I make my husband endure. It's payback for all the football I watch in football season. We come up with our own names for the singers until we know them (like at this point.) So we crack each other up through the whole show. Last night Casey came out all clean cut looking and he said "uh oh, it looks like muppet boy went to the barber again!" Again, Casey is one of my favorites, but he does on occasion resemble a muppet:D

JO5
I read somewhere May 25th is the season finale.
burley...My daughters and my friends think I'm crazy too and I'm much more older than you are. Who cares. We just love the show.
Stefano is a very down to earth pleasant boy.
Maybe we get another surprise elimination tonight???????????
Usually Ryan says something like he did last week.

NBN....James Durbin's last night's performance that you have missed.
Enjoy
-
Juli50-thanks for the link. I feel pretty dumb that I didn't think of going there first. Lol
-
My bottom three...Haley, Jacob and Casey...stefano is super cute...and
Love his voice....I hope he stays...James durbin is my favorite of all.... -
Hi Sheila... thanks so much for the link... glad it started with Casey... because James did go all the way out... I love rock... but not heavy metal rock... a little too much for me BUT... this boy has me wrapped around his little finger BECAUSE of his life story... how can't one say no to him... and his has tallent too!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know about how many times we tell these kids about SONG CHOICES, SONG CHOICES, SONG CHOICES!!!!!!!!!! With a universe full of songs, they still pick almost the same ones that have been sang before... what's up with that stupidity!!!!!!!!?????
With that said, my bottom three are: Paul... why??? Man, he should do Rod Stewart stuff, not scarecrow s...t!!!! What da heck was that last night???? I would keep his face, because he is adorable... but everything else... GOT TO GOOOOOOOO!
Haley: Found herself... lost herself... found herself again... wtf game are we playing here??? Come on dude... this is AI... we need good choices... not some crappy redo of Blondie... CALL ME... yah... right... hold your breath because I WILL NOT CALL YOU, much less dial you!!!!!!!!!!
And last: hum... it is a toss... I will pick... Jacob... than again may be Lauren... heck... you girls choose... but I think it's another girl going home tonight... if not Paul.
So, if I get it right, even though alot of you are probably working tomorrow... call in sick... we are going out and drink... we will start w/ my fave... Margaritas on the Rocks with Salt, shaken well, not stirred! Game on?
PS: I like Will.I.am... I have seen the BlackEyePeas in concert and OMG... from minute one until they are off the stage they ROCK, ROCK, ROCK your booms-booms to the ground!
PS2: The judges better stop sugar coating everything (they are so full of crap...) what is this... a love feast or AI? Again, I miss SIMON!
-
LOL Laurie at "muppet boy"!
My husband watches with me as well, unless it's a night like tonight where the Sabres are playing! I KNOW on the nights that AI is on he would rather be watching just about anything else but, he watches it because I like it!
LOL NaughtyByNature and, yes, game on!! Also LOVE Will.I.am.. So talented and, so very generous as far as donations to charities!
Casey... Not a fan BUT I will say I respected his choice last night. I do feel like he thought he will be going home so might as well show a different side to himself (maybe the truer him for any potential producers to see?). It really was a very nice blue-sy choice but, not one I'm sure will set well with the teen voters!
Jacob, I do think he really tried to take some of the judges suggestions to heart. He definitely kept his eyes open a bit last night and tried to engage the audience! But, then again, last week Pia took the judges advice to move around a bit and not just stand there like she had grown roots on the stage and we see where that got her!
Bottom 3 for me.... and, wow, this week is hard... I have typed and re-typed my choices at least 10 times... Final selections for me... Bottom 3 Paul, Stephano and (this breaks my heart) Haley! Think it will be Paul that goes!
EAST Coasters...... Just under 15 minutes!!!!
-
Poor Casey, I hope he doesn't think he's so bad that he would think he's going home tonight - but he might, especially after that performance. I would say he falls about in the middle as far as talent goes - sometimes he is surprisingly good. Hopefully, he's not a goner yet - others are not as good as he is. LOL at the muppet joke - he looks like the bear, Fozzie!
It's showtime!
-
Im ready.
-
Okay girls... need a favor... my Vampire Diaries is on... and that is a must see... always! So, would someone PM with the news as they develop? Thanks.
-
Ohhhh My Goodness... WHY could that not have been Haley's and Casey's song LAST night??? That duet was GREAT!
-
Seaside I agree: watching those two sing made me hope THEY would be the top 2.... but also made me love Haley all over again. If she could just do that kind of singing every week she would be a real contender for the winning spot. Hope she gets the chance.
-
We can't want the result show because we are having bad weather. Wahhhhh! NJ
-
Oh noooooooooooooooooo Mrs NJ (Norma)!
-
OH NO mrsnjband!!
We lost our signal here for a couple of minutes and I and my husband just about flipped! Me because of Idol and him because the hockey team he follows is playing their first play-off game tonight!
It's back on now!
