I would prefer only radiation free tests going forward, is that possible?

I'll be having an MRI every year with mammo/ultrasound in between. Just be wary of MRI - it found 3 spots in my breast and only one was actually cancer. They were all rated as Birads 3 - probably benign but because the one spot had been biopsied as cancer, the surgeon wanted to remove the other 2 just in case. I think if I ever have another spot show up on MRI, I'll go for the BMX - don't want to end up with a boob covered in scars. I've already escaped the BMX even after bilateral bc - my bs wanted me to do it but she gave in when I said I didn't want to yet. Cost is an issue too as we don't get any refund from private health or the government, so I'm looking at $600 a pop.

Not sure you want to avoid the mammo... suggest you get it annually with the MRI.  I had it 5 months after completing rads.  I had the MRI 10 months after rads.  I also had MRI results that showed a 7cm mass - that was only 2 cm... it resulted in a MX - and I probably could have avoided it.  I really should be done in tandem with the mammo and US.

I had the MRI 12 months after my first diagnosis/surgery as they saw something on my annual mammo in the other breast but couldn't find it on the ultrasound, so the MRI was to see what it might be. It turned out one of the spots was actually there the year before but they didn't report it because it didn't show on both mammo views. If my original surgeon had ordered an MRI before he did the first surgery (as he should have) I wouldn't have had to go through the whole thing again so soon. But then I would have probably had a BMX and I'm glad I didn't.
