Anyone watching Season 10 of American Idol?

I read an article that said there was so much criticism in the past over Simon and his honest but sometimes very blunt and unkind comments (but we all loved him at least part of the time!) that this year the judges were directed to be softer and less critical. I think it's backfiring, as the contestents really aren't getting good critques and the viewers aren't getting any guidance on what to look for in the performances.
Somewhere (maybe the same article?) it was also suggested that they let the voters pick the bottom three and then let the judges choose from those 3 who to toss out. I kind of like that idea.
Next week Rihanna and Kelly Clarkson will be on. Whew, no Iggy!

NatureGrrl,
The singers would suck-up big time to the judges.
-
I think the judges are smart enough to see through that
Even I could see through it during the auditions. Fake shows.
Did anyone watch the video of the little girl who was upset because Pia got thrown off (on the Vote for the Worst site)? Wow. Incredibly sad. I know she's just a child (jr high-ish?) but how did she ever get the idea that a TV show is so important to life??
-
NatureGrrl,
Big problem with young people hanging out inside watching TV or on-line, and no outdoor activities. My son and daughter now in their 20's watched TV or were on-line, but majority of the time were out and about with friends.
-
ducky- you aren't showing your age at all. I am only 35 and I feel the same way. My son is 15 and I hate hearing how these kids talk. They cuss like sailors. I wonder where there parents are. My son is no saint, however he would never act like that in public, or at least not that I am aware of. I also hate seeing kids wearing pajama pants and slippers to school. My mother would have never let me leave the house like that. It's generational for sure. Sorry for getting off subject. Just thought I'd throw my two cents in.

I really thought it would be Stefano going home------by the look of shock on his face, so did he!!!!! I really think America got it wrong AGAIN ( just like with Clay Aiken, Chris Daughtry, Jennifer Hudson, Adam Lambert, Crystal Bowersox)------I think Pia should be up there in the top 2 or 3 (with Lauren and Jacob)

Keep in mind that winning AI can be more of a hinderance sometimes. They are locked into the label for a year and have to sing what and how the producer wants. At least some of the really talented ones are seen and signed by others even if they are voted off.
-
I was definitely shocked that Pia went before Stephano or Jacob even though she is not my favorite and I too never thought she would make it to the finale. I agree with several of the others that she has a magnificent voice but she is very boring. I really hope she gets a great contract with a company and someone writes some great music for her. I can see her having an excellent CD out someday like Jennifer Hudson.
Really I can forsee that for all of them. They are all so amazing this year!!! The key to their success will be having excellent record producers and stage managers that will set up great concerts for them to get their name out there after Idol is over.
Patiently awaiting the release of The Casey James Band's first CD.... soon!!!!!!!
-
pip57- you are right. I think they are better off if they go far, but don't win. If they are that good, the show will get them to the next step no matter if they win or not.

Speaking of final three ... Venture to guess????
My final 3 ...
Scotty ..
James
Lauren
Vicki Sam
-
Paul
James
Lauren
-
James
Lauren
Scotty
-
James
Hailey
Lauren
-
James and Lauren keep popping up.
-
scotty
james
casey or paul not both
-
As much as I hate to admit it..... Scotty will probably win.
My personal top three would be
James
Casey
haley
-
James
Scotty
Haley
-
James keeps popping up.
-
James for sure. The rest it's hard to say, maybe Lauren or Hailey also. Jacob and Scotty are so good, but their singing styles are limited to a certain type, which could do them in towards the end.
-
I am kind of happy that Hailey is on some lists. Three weeks ago she looked like she would be out. I still think Jacob was WONDERFUL on motown night. There are worse things than being a top Gospel singer, if that is where he ends up.
-
Heard on the radio today that Pia already in talks for a record deal (and dating a Dancing with the Stars pro dancer -- can't remember which one because I don't watch)... she is gonna do fine!
I also like Haley -- am hoping she surprises us again like she did with BENNY AND THE JETS, which was awesome!
-
I just re-watched last weeks episode at my MILs as she hadn't erased it yet, and Pia did do really good, so it doesn't surprise me that she is getting a record deal so soon. I watched Haley again and I thought she did great with Joplin. I also re-watched Lauren and if she could come out of her shell some, she could do so great. Can't wait til Wednesday. I love AI!
-
It's Wednesday. Let the fun begin
-
seyla888,
Cute!
-
seyla ... so cute .. dancing avatars
-
Does anyone know what the theme is this week?
-
BinVA,
It's songs from the movies this week! Should be interesting!
-
Top 3.. If I voted with my heart...
James will win
Lauren and Haley will be the other 2.
If I vote with my head...
James will still win
BUT it will be Lauren and Scotty standing next to him!
That being said... Wow... this really is a tough one to call!!
NatureGrrl,
I saw your idea last week and really liked it.... Let America vote for the bottom 3 and then the JUDGES have to actually judge to choose who goes home from those three!!
Best of luck to everyone's favorites tonight!
-
NaturGrrl- That is a really good idea.
Excited for the show tonight!
-
Really hope Lauren diggs deep tonight and puts her whole soul into it. I think it will be James first then Lauren and Scotty.
