stressed about mammogram!
Hi Ladies,
I am stressing about my first mammogram which i am due to have on Monday (10th). I was diagnosed in April last year with IDC, had chemo first then lumpectomy. Apart from a Haematoma after surgury all seems to have gone well since then. But it's my first check on Monday and I am convinced they are going to find something else! I know it's pointless to worry but i can't help it. Is it normal to be so worried or am I just losing it?

I know exactly how you feel. I am coming up to my third mammogram on April 19. I was diagnosed three years ago this month and am just as anxious with this one as I have been with the first two. I was so relieved when they told me my first mammogram was clear but I guess I will always keep thinking what if it comes back?
Good luck and let us know how you make out.

I so relate. I have my one year mammo coming on the 23rd. Sending calming thoughts to you.

I'm four years out and still worry when I get any test. We've been through a lot and it is normal to worry. No fun. Try to be glad that they are being cautious and doing the tests and keeping on top of the situation instead of being lax. I'm sending good wishes to you!

I am two + years out now and have been back for mammograms three times and CAT scans a couple times. Every time is torture! I am super nervous and because I have had breast cancer the technicians and doctors take every little spot or shadow super seriously. My last mammogram turned into an ultrasound and a CAT scan turned in to shoulder x-rays! (Something looked "suspicious" on my scapula. I tell myself to not get all worked up but that is easier said than done
At first my husband went with me but I find I am less anxious if I don't have to worry about him sitting in the waiting room wondering what is going on.
Then, in the end, it all turns out okay and I am reprieved for another 6 months! Right now I am building up to my 2 year mammo next week so watch out... I am a little on edge!
Good luck and ask for some xanax if you think it might help

Just had my first mamogram since being DX but all clear. I couldn't believe it. I had a birads 5 my very first mammogram and I had to also have an untrasound for a cyst the first time but this time they just said normal. I was shocked. I was expecting a biopsy or something. Good Luck

Ladies,
Thank you all so much for your responses. I feel much better just knowing there is someone out there who knows how I feel ! Seems like I am not alone in sweating every time the dreaded check comes up! Hooray i am not finally losing it
I will let everyone know how it goes on Monday. Fingers crossed for some good news.
