Anyone watching Season 10 of American Idol?

James had the best stage presents. Casey and Naima bug me.
-
I agree that Thia was weak and will probably be one of the two.
Stefano was better than last week but I can see him in bottom three. Naima too. Though I like her I did find that reggae version of I'M STILL STANDING a bit odd. I also found that guy (whose name escapes me at the moment LOL) in the white, flowered suit to be weak; he has an interesting voice and a gorgeous smile but he keeps leaving me wanting more/disappointed every time he performs... so who knows? He might fall into the bottom three as well.
Casey definitely looks better with the hair and beard cut! He needs to stop playing it safe.
James and Haley, I agree, were the highlights last night.

Hi Lilah
My bottom 3 is Thia, Stefano and ???? could be Casey.
I cant get Casey and Jacob what a voice but doesn't do anything for me.
Oh I forgot 2 are going home tonight OMG
9 hours and 11 minutes counting.........

Vicki Sam from Southern California .. here ...
after sweating from the high 80 degree weather all day .. (50 degree's last week, and rain, rain and rain) .. 2 mile area went dark .. at 8:30 p.m. out came the candles and flash lights .. played board games and talked until 11:30 p.m. -- so I missed American Idol last night .. ugh! Normally, I have AI and Survivor on dvr .. so I watch on Wednesday, in between my errands, exercise (ok, I normally watch episodes of both shows first) .. and my mommy duties.... I can go on line and watch both .. but I don't have the patience to do that, or the mental wherewith all. Still fighting chemo brain, and it's difficult for me to not to get distracted.
Who do you all predict will be in the bottom 3?

Vicki, sorry you had the power outage, there were some great performances last night, but I guess it was better to miss last night than later on.
My bottom three, based on last night and also considering that some have a big following, are Stephano, Paul, and Naimi.
I actually liked that Naimi tried to put her own spin on a song but it didn't quite work. She's a performer but still has trouble singing well, too.
Paul, I didn't like that selection for him and, like others have said, I wanted to like it more than I did. I noticed he slurs his words quite a bit at times, not working for him. Maybe that's how "masquerading" became "masturbating" last week
Like the judges said, I think he has more power than he's using. But I love his quirky voice and smile and hope he stays.
Stephano, connected better and I thought it was a sweet song for him but again, more power, please.
Thia could easily be in the bottom three except I think she has a bigger following than the others and might have won some more over last night. I actually saw growth in her last night and thought her vocals were very pretty and well done, she really connected with the song and therefore with the audience. I'm thinking she stays and isn't in the bottom three. Good job, Thia!
So that's 4. There were 5 Wow's! for me and 2 that I cared less about. And those two were (no surprise if you remember my previous comments) Pia and Scotty. They both did great vocals. Scotty is a MUCH better performer than Pia but still, I'm tired of his same ol' same ol' no matter what the judges say. It was an OK song for him but not one of his best. Pia: big surprise here: she did a.... you won't believe this... ballad! After saying last week she wouldn't! Like she's said how many times before? Excuse me while I yawn. Great vocals but I was bored. I've decided she's afraid to get out of her comfort zone and doesn't have a clue about how to perform or connect. The judges again all loved her voice but they also all agreed that they need to be surprised next week. She SAID she'll do "River Deep Mountain High" next week. We'll see. I bet she just copies Celine and again just sings and doesn't connect with the audience. Or the song. She can belt 'em out better than most but... well, I'd just be repeating myself, so I'll quit beating that dead horse.
OK... my wow's were:
Lauren. I've liked her all along, but have not been a huge fan at the same time. Last night made me a convert. Emotional connection, perfect song for her... well, wow. She nailed it.
James. Vocals were spot on, worked the audience, perfect song for him and his energy. He rocked it. And he was funny and cute after the song. People are going to keep loving him!
Casey. OK, not a huge wow, but a wow. New look was good and he, like a few others, showed some growth -- he really tried and he did a new kind of song for him and there was a real poignancy in his voice. He's not my fav but I thought he did a great job.
Jacob. Also not my fav, but he also showed some growth, connected deeply with the emotion of the song, didn't go over the top like he sometimes does, spot on vocals.
And then -- probably my fav and I was glad to see her do so well: Haley. I love her earthiness and her bluesy sound and have from the start. I never would have picked that song for her in a million years but it was perfect!! She totally made it her own but was true to the song. I loved it and I suspect she has a lot of new fans after last night.
That's it from the peanut gallery.
Not too long until we find out what the voters thought!
-
I liked Haley last night .. I thought she did a great job and had it all together!
-
NatureGirl, Loved your breakdown of last night's show. Blow by blow, bullet point description. LOL
I can not imagine that Pia, yes again, sang a ballad .. meow
Casey .. reconnected with the audience .. yeah.. New look, did he shave off his gross beard?
Thia ... pack it up .. she will not be lasting too much long ... her arena is Broadway - on and off.
Stephano .. never has been 1 of my favorites.. all tho he did surprise me a few weeks ago, with 1 of his songs .. I fee he is 1 dimension.
James ... awwww, I missed him .. Mr. Rock and Roller
Naima (sp), needs to grow out of her 'Bob Marley', phase.
Lauren ... made a believer out of you .. Wow, she must of been spot on with her connection to her song choice, and vocals.
Who I would like/prefer to see in the bottom 3 tonight:
Thia
Naima
Stephano
Just my opinion ....
Vicki Sam
-
Vicki, I think we're in agreement.
My blow-by-blows: yes, I'm spending way too much time on this show!
On the other hand, I have no fun vices any more, so a few hours a week on a TV show is pretty harmless.
Your "meow" -- LOL!!!
You might have liked Thia last night -- she won't make it to the top, but she really did show improvement and gave a heartfelt performance.
James got a haircut and a beard trim. I expected a shave, too, from the way they hyped it, but just a trim. Not so grizzly-bear looking
Oops. Keep forgetting two have to go -- so I'm thinking Stephano and Naima. But the voters are fickle so who knows!
-
You will have to post and give me the spoiler alert .. LOL I am here on the West Coast, and always want to know things before they happen.
For example: I always open Christmas gifts before, Christmas. I just re-wrap my gifts, and place them under the tree. I have been doing this for since the age of 12, and have not grown out of my wicked need to know things.

Vicki, a woman after my own heart! I used to find my presents, too (or figure them out -- my mom always thought she was clever and subtle but she always managed to give things away -- or we were too psychically tuned in to each other!).
OK, I'll PM you so others won't have to find out if they don't want to. (unless I fall asleep -- not as likely lately as I've had a great energy rebound but you never know).
BTW, rethinking the bottom three -- Casey was there last week and although I give him a lot of credit for this week's performance, if his fan base has dropped he may be back there again.
In other words, what the heck do I know!
-
Hello everyone! I am back and had a good day at school, for a change, no drama with the freaking teenyboppers that I would like to "dust" the living crap out of those arrogant a$$s!
Teka: I would like to think that I am a fun person/student... but not everyone likes "yellow"
... and the students today, are not like they were back in my time... they have excuses for everything, most of them backed up by "mental conditions"... yeah, okay!
So, going back to the bigger discussion, who is going to go home tonight:
My predictions, Thia and... drum roll please... hum... Jacob! Reasons? Thia is not mature and/or ready yet; Jacob... love the LV in him but... something too, too drama queen about him, and please, don't take me wrong... I still love him... but someone has to go home... JMO. Later!
-
Ok...
Was not a Casey fan but, with his new look and the performance he gave last night, I can see it! Hopefully not a case of too little too late!
Bottom 3 tonight... hmmm... Based on my preferences it would be Naima, Paul and (Gasp) Scotty with Naima and Paul being the ones to go! With the whole popularity thing coming into play, who knows?
So happy Haley, who has been a favorite of mine from the get go, FINALLY had a great night!!!
I'm going with Naima, Paul and

NaughtybyNature,
I was in college 68-73 and 75-76. We were all a little bent and had fun. My son and daughter in college 02-08. Tame. Fond memories. James seems to be the only one close to being like Steven Tyler.
-
And here we go:
-
Very nice but... Gee... he could not even look at her??? What's up with that?!!
-
NBN...You are talking about the second couple right?
-
NatureGirl .. You are my best-est .. Friend!
Similar in nature, Vicki Sam
-
Some delay on posting and reading going on here...
Seyla... ABSOLUTELY!
Very nice...
-
That was okay for me...
!
-
I got a little chuckle out of Fantasia's "tribute" at the end of her song
Lauren & Scotty -- when they sang at the same time, did anyone else notice how much she had to hold back so she didn't drown him out? I never noticed that about his voice before but as nice as it is and as well as he does, he has no power at all.
Teka, I was part of the bent generation, too
Great fun years!
-
Nature... I did notice and agree with your opinion of Lauren and Scotty's voice!
And do they have careers before them? I hope so... they deserve. The end, for this week.
-
on the results, but I will say, don't believe the beginning hype about "you won't believe the results!" Hope that doesn't spoil too much for anyone!
-
Nature...Lauren has a big voice.
The results well
It wasnt a surprise for me.
Next Wednesday is from 8-9;30
Ladies what a nice fan group we have here dont we/
We agree to disagree.
-
Sheila I agree the results were not a surprise for me either as we have already discussed! What an amazing night... Elton John songs were great and for the most part they all sang really, really well!!!!
-
I think Im going crazy at my old age about American Idol.
Hi Renee again
-
There were things I liked about Naima...(who I am beginning to think would be great on broadway, more than a recording artist)...and Thia.
I kind of think if Thia had to wait a year or two she might have done really well. There is a little bit of Anne Murray or Karen Carpenter in her voice.
Lauren also probably could have done better...maybe even won next year.
Naima had fabulous energy, and a pleasant voice, and was kind of creative.
Still I think the results were about right. Not a big Stephano fan. I liked when Pia did the Whitney Houston song with a little beat. I might kind of like to hear her sing "last dance".
Was a little worried for Jacob...I didn't like that song for him. He rocked Motown night though.
I really like Paul, but I thought he was off this week.
We shall see.
I liked the new format with them singing....as opposed to the "loser song" format.
-
Nature Girl loved the bullet point analysis
And ladies thanks for letting me join in... it's good to have an outlet for one's AI mania (if I'd seen this thread when it started I woulda been there from the top)!
I think Haley made a lot of new fans last night (including me)! Well I always liked her but I love her now. I hope she can keep doing that well. Loved the crowd reaction to her tonight.
Since someone asked: Yes, Casey did get a shave and a haircut before last night's show (well a beard trim) and boy does it help! He was really getting to look like some sort of recluse mountain man.
I was not surprised by the bottom three nor the bottom two.
I have to say I really like the format they are using this year (well that they used tonight) of having duos and trios sing songs before they get their results. Far more entertaining than the old results night format.
-
I was so pleased with the new format. No more dragging out their misery.
-
I am pleased with the new format. No more dragging out their misery.
-
Expected This to depart but I thought Naima would hold on a while longer. I think she is a great performer and will be great in the tour.
I like this season a lot.
